    No UGG uses sheep skin…so they aren’t just shearing the animal. Like the animal dies…3 million lambs die every spring because of this

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Which have already been purposed into lamb meat (and other byproducts) for consumption and use. People all over the world enjoy eating lamb so there is a huge market for it. UGG never uses skins from animals solely bred for skins- they ensure that all the other parts are used as well. What that means is, the animal skins they get are from animals that were initially bred for meat (and other byproducts) first and foremost. The animals are never initially bred for skins and the meat sold as secondary.

    • @cactoyote
      @cactoyote 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      feelgoodfuture.ugg.com/articles/our-approach-to-animal-welfare They're actively researching alternatives and aren't meaninglessly slaughtering animals. the meat of the animals also goes and is used for consumption, so there's little waste. A sheep skin is also likely to last longer, and erode less, where as polyester and other synthetics degrade even just wearing them around, which leaves micro plastics in our water systems, which are much harder to get out.

    • @dancingangel95
      @dancingangel95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Nimeariel I’m personally a vegetarian and would never see this as a reason anyway. But considering how much Tim and Jenn are educated and reasonable about the treatment of animals, the environment and sometimes eating vegan; I feel that it’s important to know that these sheep are being killed not just shaved.

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dancingangel95 That is a valid point, and I appreciate people who are vegan/vegetarian who are open-minded about other people's preferences, as well. So your comments have been well-received! Thank you! You are right- they do like to keep informed so that they can in turn accurately inform those who might be interested or who might need to know. I also think, though, that we need to be responsible and give the FULL story of what UGGS really are (sheepskin/leather sourced from meat farms, not the other way around, or only for their skin/fur/wool). Hence, my additional comment to yours. Yes, it's sad the sheep/lambs die, but.... at least they aren't going to waste. That's what the Native Americans believe, anyway- use ALL of the animal (or as much as possible). And they are the most in tune with Mother Nature and ethical treatment.

      @dancingangel95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Nimeariel as much as I hate the use of animal products, I do agree that it’s better to use all of it at least. However, I do hope UGG has put a stop to the abusive conditions from the places they get their animals from because that’s even more heart breaking

    Hi Tim & Jen
    This is where the saying the world is your oyster comes from
    This phrase was coined by William Shakespeare and first appears in his play The Merry Wives Of Windsor. Pistol: “Why then the world's mine oyster, which I with sword will open.” One theory is that the phrase initially related to wealth, but now means 'all life's richness' with the pearl in the oyster signifying this.

      @Nimeariel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything I have found is from 2018 or earlier. I don't know about how long ago or how recently they committed to sourcing from ethically treated animals, but you also have to remember- certain groups have agendas that will spin almost anything to make it sound more cruel or unethical than it might actually be. Often, too, people that create these videos or propaganda have no actual working knowledge of the industry or practice they are speaking out against- they just use feelings and emotions and what they think they know to back up their arguments. If any of them actually spent some decent amounts of time working in those industries or learning those practices, they might actually come to understand the reasoning and knowledge and science behind it. There is actual honest to goodness malpractice or cruelty and then there is "perceived malpractice or cruelty". What those groups aim to do is perpetuate the "perceived" malpractice or cruelty without actually understanding the difference and without actually advocating against the ACTUAL malpractice or cruelty.

I don’t think people don’t eat black pudding as much as they used to but often it’s on a big “fry up”. The ingredients in the Branston are pickled. You need to try a cheddar and Branston sandwich on soft bread - delicious, you also don’t need too much!! I feel salad cream is a more old fashioned thing now. British Review :- That’s pretty heavy on the Branston pickle, most people would probably take half that for the amount of cheese. Marmite would also be a far more popular spread on toast. It tastes a little similar to Bovril, but is a yeast extract rather than being beef based. If people did like Bovril, they’d usually consume it as a hot, beefy, drink!

    Fun Fact: My first word was Bovril 😂 (now 25, from Yorkshire, England). Also I only buy salad cream to make "tuna mayo" with - it is so superior to mayo in this case because it's vinegary 😍 Also obsessed with HP (which actually stands for Houses of Parliament!) 🤤
    I can't wait for you guys to visit the UK and go to UK parks! Happy to show you around if you ever do, but it's more likely i'll have moved to Orlando before you visit here (moving as soon as Biden lifts travel ban!). I hope to bump into you guys either way! ❤️

      I do similar with Egg Mayo. But I do 2 parts mayo, 1 part Salad Cream. It just gives an added depth to the flavour without being overpowering.

    Great video, as always! Jen, I'd suggest trying Sanuk they're owned by UGG but they're sandals and more summer based shoes. Also, they're made from yoga mat and are the most comfortable shoes I've brought. Got them at Disney Springs, they're located next to the Savanah Bee company

  • @fondantroses

    Sheep are “hurt” to make Ugg’s. It’s not just their wool but their skin is used too. Obviously it is a by-product of meat like most cow leather. So if you eat meat/wear leather then it’s no different but they are a very unethical company

      Might be another one of those jam/jelly or crisps/chips instances. What Americans call pickles some (maybe most?) Brits would normally call gherkins. For me especially a 'pickle' is any kind of jar like the Branston, so you can have many types of pickle depending on what's in the jar.
      If you want to go all the way down the rabbit hole, look up a Ploughman's lunch!

    The proverb first appeared in Shakespeare's play 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' published in 1602. In Act II, a character named Falstaff says: “I will not lend thee a penny,” to which Pistol replied: “Why, then, the world's mine oyster, Which I with sword will open.”
