20:36 The Crystal Palace was a real building in Hyde Park, London. It was built in the 1850s to house the Great Exhibition (a World's Fair). After the exhibition ended, the building was relocated to an area of the South London suburbs that is still known as Crystal Palace today - although the actual building burned down in the 1930s. There is even a premier league football (soccer) club called Crystal Palace that were established in 1861 whilst playing in the grounds of the Crystal Palace building. They are still playing professionally in the local area today. The Crystal Palace restaurant in Magic Kingdom definitely reflects some of the details of the the Crystal Palace building as well as other Victorian era buildings in London. I recommend looking up pictures of the original Crystal Palace building. It was incredibly impressive.

@@lindatannock There are still a lot of parents/families who would never let their boys buy princess merch or may buy it but make fun of them for it. For those of us who grew up in those types of families it's always especially heartwarming to see people not bat an eye and be like "this is what they wanted so we got it". It's just nice to see a reminder that there are families supporting these values around their child's interests.
Jen, love that you casually say the Palm Tree line ... I remember when you were in Disney Springs and changed "Oyster" to "Palm Tree", and were like, "We should say that now..." - and here you are! Also, in 2018 we waited an hour to meet Anna and Elsa in Norway - we were the only family with no daughters in line! LOL My boys LOVED meeting them ... boys can like princesses, too! :-D

My take on CP without characters if it's just the buffet: not worth it. We've had a comparable breakfast at the resorts that cost half the price. In its new incarnation as a family-style: not sure.
We ate at crystal palace for the first time in may and we loved it!!! We had a perfect table next to a window with a view of Adventureland! And we waited out the rain while we had dinner there!!! We’re definitely going back on our next vacation this November!!! The only thing that was different though was that our server told us that we couldn’t get refills of our meal so I’m not sure maybe it just depends on what server you get but I went in thinking it was all you could eat of the meal that you ordered but our server told no that it was just the one plate. But either way we had a great experience and can’t wait to go back!!!!
I wish it wasn't hot like you guys mentioned. We are being GRILLED in British Columbia right now. Recorded the hottest temperature ever in Canada yesterday, in Lytton BC (118 F). Even hotter there today. No one has A/C, our apartment was 95.9 F inside last night. :'(

hey! i stayed there! it was really convenient and comfortable. it also had a free shuttle that went to the universal parks (including volcano bay)!! there’s a starbucks in the lobby as well as a gift shop that’s kinda set up like a universal store (so stuff from each section of the park). honestly, i really recommend it and i can see myself staying there again. it was really affordable for what it was. enjoy your trip!
Speaking of special months, when Jackson turns 30 months old, measure his height, as the old wives tail is that when a child turns 2 and a half measure his height and double that and that is how tall you will get.

Actually Pooh is from Ashdown forest in Sussex not london, and The sight of the old Crystal Palace is now in london but was in Kent when the books were written (sight hasn’t moved London’s just gotten bigger). I think the link between them is just about them both being English rather than area as the two places aren’t really near each other. They are both lovely spots to visit if your ever in England though!
The Crystal Palace is near and dear to my heart. I always remember my mother (and get a little emotional) when I walk in. There used to be a large palm tree when you first walk in that mom loved. When hubby and I went to Disney in February, we ate at the Crystal Palace, enjoyed a wonderful meal and had a very happy heart!
I live in Washington where we just experienced an abnormal heat wave and I'm thankful for it being 90 degrees today 😂 never thought I would say that in my life.

I'm really glad you did this video. Crystal Palace has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Magic Kingdom, but we've been very unsure about trying the new family style meals.
Can't wait for the Barbershop to open, and see Jackson get his 1st haircut! I think - since he is SUCH an adored little boy by many (including me!) and you've graciously shared so much of him with us, we'll be ALMOST excited, and emotional, as you two! :) The spot you were watching the MK parade was 1 of my fave spots. Especially since I used to go annually back when I smoked, and that little street going towards backstage (or overfill doors, now) next to Tony's used to be my fave smoking spot in the MK. I have since given up smoking, and maybe going to WDW. Sorry, Tim, but I have to chuckle, watching Jackson with that bubble wand - he's entranced by one of your most hated things! LOL Lunch looked really good, and I think the more places I see the alternatives, I'm liking the idea of no more self-serve buffets more and more. Especially since I often travel solo, and a lot of times with either an ECV, or rolling walker, so it's just easier to have stuff brought to me, with nobody to watch my table/stuff, and sometimes hard to each back rows of buffets from a scooter. Partially rainy days are my favorite! The last time I was there, it poured rain for 15 minutes. We were in Hollywood studios and everyone took off. We waited under an awning at a store and soon as it stopped we went to rockin rollercoaster. We got to ride it 5 times in a row with no wait, it was amazing.
Went to Crystal Palace while it was still self service and a character meal and obesity. Read so any bad reviews and character meals aren't my thing but I loved the of the building. So glad I ignored the reviews!!! Mind, we had the table service meal plan (upgraded from free dining), so the specific cost want a consideration. Anyway, so pleased you enjoyed it, I really think its great and will be going again next visit!
I wish they had explained that to us better when we went to the Crystal Palace in the beginning of June. They told us we had a choice of an entree and the only things that were unlimited were the salad, muffins and dessert.. . We paid $39 per adult for dinner and were disappointed in that (although I couldn't eat all of my entree as I ate too much of the yummy salad beforehand.. ). Glad Casey's opened today (June 30th). 😊
Its funny about the humidity because here in Massachusetts its been very hot and humid all week! 104 the past 3 days! Sometimes we'll have a much warmer temp than Florida during our "heat wave" as they call it here! Lol. Some of my family moved to Florida for the permanent heat wave there!
I am sentimental towards Crystal Palace because that's the one restaurant I recall clearly my family going to when we went on our Disney World trip. I remember the Winnie the Pooh characters signing in my autograph book and having quite a few dessert items on my plate that afternoon. Also at one point the 100-acre Woods characters did a parade with kids trailing behind them, and I was one of them.

I really wish Disney would stop selling those bubble wands! Why Disney thought it would be a good idea for people to try and maneuver a crowded park with soap being blown into their eyes is beyond me. If the child wants to make bubbles, let them do it away from people. We've even had the bubbles blowing into our eyes in the Disney bus transportation lines. It's not the kids' fault. They don't know any better. But the parents don't care as long as the little one is happy and quiet.
It's about time Disney came out with puck holders besides the ear ones. Several small businesses sell puck holders that are far more exciting than Disney's

I know you have to be positive about all this stuff Tim and non biased to a certain extent and the parks have to show a responsibility to keep people safe and maintain crowd control to give everyone a chance but three words come to mind when you talk about this kind of system: Capitalism, Greed and Cashcow, I can picture the execs in their mansions right now cackling over how the lemmings are fighting over limited spots, reservations and wait times all prepared to hand over their hard earned dollars, I think I’ll pass excuse the pun.
I am super invested in this barbershop opening, just because of you all 😆 I'm hoping for my daughter's first haircut to be there too, but she's got a while to go (2.5 now, but her hair is still only at her shoulders). Maybe next spring.
I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and they told us those windows open during parades. They have speakers for the music. Then they close after the parade is over. Maybe those got stuck.
Crystal palace buffet wasn't my favorite but not terrible. the character experience was well worth it. I liked the buffet at Hollywood and vine a bit better.
The song on the bubble wand is Under the Sea. Trust me, I heard it non-stop for hours when I took my friend and her 5 year old daughter to Disney in March. lol

I'm really glad you did this video. Crystal Palace has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Magic Kingdom, but we've been very unsure about trying the new family style meals.

Can't wait for the Barbershop to open, and see Jackson get his 1st haircut! I think - since he is SUCH an adored little boy by many (including me!) and you've graciously shared so much of him with us, we'll be ALMOST excited, and emotional, as you two! :) The spot you were watching the MK parade was 1 of my fave spots. Especially since I used to go annually back when I smoked, and that little street going towards backstage (or overfill doors, now) next to Tony's used to be my fave smoking spot in the MK. I have since given up smoking, and maybe going to WDW. Sorry, Tim, but I have to chuckle, watching Jackson with that bubble wand - he's entranced by one of your most hated things! LOL
Lunch looked really good, and I think the more places I see the alternatives, I'm liking the idea of no more self-serve buffets more and more. Especially since I often travel solo, and a lot of times with either an ECV, or rolling walker, so it's just easier to have stuff brought to me, with nobody to watch my table/stuff, and sometimes hard to each back rows of buffets from a scooter. Banana cream pie? Yummm!!!!! How nice that you took the time to leave a CM compliment!

The food looks really good. But it’s SO LOUD! I think it would be so annoying and not very enjoyable! Was it really that loud? Or was it the video camera picking it up too much?

Proof that rainy days can be good days too!!!!
Partially rainy days are my favorite! The last time I was there, it poured rain for 15 minutes. We were in Hollywood studios and everyone took off. We waited under an awning at a store and soon as it stopped we went to rockin rollercoaster. We got to ride it 5 times in a row with no wait, it was amazing.
Went to Crystal Palace while it was still self service and a character meal and obesity. Read so any bad reviews and character meals aren't my thing but I loved the of the building. So glad I ignored the reviews!!! Mind, we had the table service meal plan (upgraded from free dining), so the specific cost want a consideration.
Anyway, so pleased you enjoyed it, I really think its great and will be going again next visit!

I wish they had explained that to us better when we went to the Crystal Palace in the beginning of June. They told us we had a choice of an entree and the only things that were unlimited were the salad, muffins and dessert.. . We paid $39 per adult for dinner and were disappointed in that (although I couldn't eat all of my entree as I ate too much of the yummy salad beforehand.. ). Glad Casey's opened today (June 30th). 😊

Its funny about the humidity because here in Massachusetts its been very hot and humid all week! 104 the past 3 days! Sometimes we'll have a much warmer temp than Florida during our "heat wave" as they call it here! Lol. Some of my family moved to Florida for the permanent heat wave there!
I am sentimental towards Crystal Palace because that's the one restaurant I recall clearly my family going to when we went on our Disney World trip. I remember the Winnie the Pooh characters signing in my autograph book and having quite a few dessert items on my plate that afternoon. Also at one point the 100-acre Woods characters did a parade with kids trailing behind them, and I was one of them.
I assume the dinner price at Crystal Palace is more? Hopefully the characters will be back by the Fall. Dessert items looked delicious!

I really wish Disney would stop selling those bubble wands! Why Disney thought it would be a good idea for people to try and maneuver a crowded park with soap being blown into their eyes is beyond me. If the child wants to make bubbles, let them do it away from people. We've even had the bubbles blowing into our eyes in the Disney bus transportation lines. It's not the kids' fault. They don't know any better. But the parents don't care as long as the little one is happy and quiet.
It's about time Disney came out with puck holders besides the ear ones. Several small businesses sell puck holders that are far more exciting than Disney's

I know you have to be positive about all this stuff Tim and non biased to a certain extent and the parks have to show a responsibility to keep people safe and maintain crowd control to give everyone a chance but three words come to mind when you talk about this kind of system: Capitalism, Greed and Cashcow, I can picture the execs in their mansions right now cackling over how the lemmings are fighting over limited spots, reservations and wait times all prepared to hand over their hard earned dollars, I think I’ll pass excuse the pun.
Are Jenn and Tim DVC club members? Always wondered how the pay for all the places they stay.
I am super invested in this barbershop opening, just because of you all 😆 I'm hoping for my daughter's first haircut to be there too, but she's got a while to go (2.5 now, but her hair is still only at her shoulders). Maybe next spring.
I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and they told us those windows open during parades. They have speakers for the music. Then they close after the parade is over. Maybe those got stuck.
Crystal palace buffet wasn't my favorite but not terrible. the character experience was well worth it. I liked the buffet at Hollywood and vine a bit better.
The song on the bubble wand is Under the Sea. Trust me, I heard it non-stop for hours when I took my friend and her 5 year old daughter to Disney in March. lol
McDonald's has luca toys in the happy meals right now! They have ones that he could swim with in the bathtub, and they change color.
