Amazing videos. 🎉🎉🎉 Now the yellow leafs in the bottom of the trunk are sucker branches, meaning the original root stock (seedling) used to graft the Shishigashira is trying to come out. You need to take those out or eventually they will out grow your shishi. Sucker branches always wins because they are native to the actual rootstock and they will steal energy out of your Shishigashira.
Blossom, the tree leaves branches at the very base are from below the graphed of the tree above, you should take those off so that they do not take any energy from the top of the tree.
Thanks, I may just noticed someone else had the same thing almost already! And great job on your videos I have over 70 Japanese Maple and I'm clearly addicted to them!
Hello. I'm glad I found you. I recently purchased a Shishigashira tree from Lowes. Its price was $99.00. I thought that was reasonable for a #2-size Shishigashira Japanese Maple. Since I don't have room for the size it will be someday I thought a container would be best to grow it in. I purchased a 15-inch w by 16-inch h. Will it be okay for the size it is in now to be transferred to this size? I hope so. Please let me know if you have the time. Thanks for your video. I enjoyed watching you trans-plant your cute Shishigashira Japanese Maple. Do you know how old it is? Take care for now.
