I was told once that as an adult, we buy what we didn't have as a child. Explains why, as an adult, I can't help collecting shoes! As a child, my mom could barely afford new shoes all the time. Ask John for me if that's why he collects coats!😂😂😂😂
I love thrift shops, but loved them more when clothing, other items were all a dollar each. I even got a fantastic cashmere blanket, a few vintage wool blankets. Even new IT cashmere socks I have found a few times. For a buck how can one resist? I took all to the drycleaner and paid far more there than to buy them. Once a handknit alpaca wrap from the Andes for $4.99. I looked it up, retailed for $900.00. I still have it. Great shoes too, some new in box! Like Birkenstock, and B. Markowsky handbags - can't beat for a dollar or 5. Once one of those nearly brand new bags I paid a buck for, actually had 6 dollar coins in the side pocket. I'm fine with 2nd hand bc around my area, people go wild paying full price, then barely use, or not at all, only to then donate to buy their next new collection of things - many do it seasonally. That is a huge waste of money to me. I about never had to pay full price. I've been lucky way too many times. I stopped going nearly as much as I used to. I cleaned out closets and took what I was done with, and things I did not wear, to donate back. I also, held a few garage sales a few years back, made a few thousand off many of those great finds. I wanted to see a lot of open space in the closet and shelves. No desire to fill them back up again. Oh, but I kept the good stuff alright. They can have those when I'm gone - the things I have yet to tire of. Was an addiction, even a high of some kind, but what a fun, profitable one I well enjoyed. Oh and the art!! I used to pick up 2 dollar artworks fairly often. I sold most for at least $50, $100 or more, but a few I sent to auction for far more. If I can't get the good stuff for cheap, I don't buy it. They've raised the prices at these thrifts so, it has taken the fun out of it for me. That's fine, I had at least a 10, or more like 20 yr. run at it. Wishing happy finds to you! ❤🙏💫

Hi skely I know I wash clothes before I take them the charity shops I've bought vtec toys for my grandson when he was little and I get my books from charity shops my favourite shop in willowbrooke hospice shop and I only ljve not far from willowbrooke hospice warehouse I got my suite from willowbrooke hospice and a modern sideboard and a tall fridge freezer that cost me 55 pound so I'm not proud I got a newcoat from bonmarche about 3 winters ago I needed a really warm coat and j fryed one on an 18 jt wouldn't zip up I ended up buying a 28 size coat I'm only an18 to 20 in clothes love fran xxxxx
