  • Enjoy playing ballads on your own in a truly beautiful, expressive and moving manner, while expanding your musical knowledge and skills.
    Django Reinhardt's charming composition, Django's Castle (Manoir de mes Rêves) serves as a jumping off point for your adventure in ballads. You'll be amazed at how one song can open a whole new world of ideas for you to explore at your own pace, in your own time and on your own.
    We’ll start from the basics so everyone can follow and move on to more advanced topics - melody, harmony, chord melody, tips for improvisation and practical, yet exciting, advanced musical ideas that you’ll learn to implement right away (such as substitutes, inversions, superimposed chords, augmented chords, the 13b9 sound, intro, ending and bass lines).
    Ballads are a perfect opportunity to practice new skills not as a dry exercise, but with a lot of pleasure.
    I just added a blog entry to teach you Django's Castle, along with some great insights you can use with any ballad. You have a video, written explanations and chords.
    You can have endless fun with this. Do it in the spirit of playfulness and ease and you'll love it!

    Fullmod amazing Ideas! Could you maybe show an example of making a solo ballad out of something simple like Minor Swing?

    • @Gypsyandjazz
      @Gypsyandjazz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Minor Swing isn't a ballad and it doesn't even have an actual melody. You can harmonize your melodies by adding chord tones and make create solo arrangements of your own.

    22:42 school boy questions: key of D? Dominant are A & E?
    I wonder where the idea of ‘Django’s Castle came from. I understand Manoir de mes Reves, but I don’t think ‘castle’ when I hear the tune…🧐🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    • @Gypsyandjazz
      @Gypsyandjazz  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't actually know who translated the name that way. It is also known as Django"s Dream, since he dreamt this music as a piece for a full orchestra!
      Yes, Key of D. The dominant in any key is the fifth so, in the key of D - A.
