    I said before, but I'll say it again - that is a very satisfying job. Something I would love to do even in retirement.

    I am glad that the repair shop was able to fix your Deere so quickly. My ears always perk up when you talk about snakes on the properties that you are mowing. Best wishes.

    I’m chomping at the bit on a track loader and you show that you don’t necessarily have to have a $30k mulching head to clear some serious brush! Tractors are cool, but being able to mulch and shape land like this is a whole other level of awesomeness! Great Video! ~Jon@SBYD!
    PS totally tracking that attachment is still some serious money!

      Yeah this is a great head that can get you in the door in this business and you don't have to put yourself in crazy debt to get one. It is also great for mowing and bush hogging and if you can get your foot in the door doing that this is the tool for the job and then work your way up to a mulcher if business is good. With this setup, the cost isn't horrible and it would almost pay for itself as a side job if you kept busy on the weekends. And you can do a little more than the guys with just a bush hog too, which is nice but you are cheaper than the guys with mulcher heads which can make you more attractive to clients because your prices are a little better.

    Nice !!!! i would have saved a day and set fire to most of the dead woody material, then run the machine o er it. A good controled burn saves on equipment

    • @Rickimusic
      @Rickimusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it would cost about four times more to control burn 11 acres than to just cut it down. He would need a stand by water supply and help to keep it from jumping the dirt fire line he would have to make.

    It would be fun to see what a forestry mulcher head would do on your JD.

    I noticed you aren’t having to reverse over the stuff you just cut. Is that because it’s dried out so it chops up quicker than if it was wet?

    Good video, I have a question why dont u carry tools with u. I've always beleave u dont go to a job without ur tools.

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have a tool kit with me and actually had probably what I needed to force that track back on but I didn't have enough grease on hand to tighten it back up and resetting a track is really a 2 man job. One person to work to controls to roll the track and another to work a bar to get the track back on. I was by myself that day.

    Nice work and equipment Do you charge by the hour are job, I'm in the land clearing business. Your work looks sc o much easier and relaxing, What is the average rate per our you charge if you don't mind sharing, Thanks in advance 😇

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every job is different but bush hogging is typically by the acre, heavy brush cutting is by the hour.

    I watch quite a few of these type of videos and wondered why don't more people follow farmers by starting in the middle to allow any wildlife that may be nesting in there more chance to get out?

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically I'm not moving fast enough to outrun any wildlife that may be in the way. They are typically long gone before I get close to them.

      Not sure what the RPM is off the top of my head but I'm usually running about 75-80% throttle.

    you could have used a forestry mulcher on this one..? this job here was almost to much for a bush hog....

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could have but why? There really isn't anything in here that requires a mulcher head and you'd eat into your profit margin by using up expensive teeth
