My favorite channel on youtube I like that you fish kind of the same kind of places like me its awesome to see how much your channel has grown! Happy Fishing!🎣👽👍
Try floating half a nightcrawler about 12 to 18 inches with your bullet weight & barrel swivel. I like a #10 wire hook because it is very light. Then I use a wine cork as a strike indicator hanging on my line between the first & second guide from the reel. I tighten the line up until I feel the weight. Back off a little then hang the wine cork strike indicator. Love your videos.
Hawk, has anyone offered you a local tv gig? Would be a great way of promoting different parts of the state you live in. You seem to be a great teacher, helping promote various products, gear, and beautiful parts of the state
Yellow perch sanctuary is what you came across 😀Here in the part of Georgia I'm in,about forty miles North of Macon is the Okmulgee river, not as clear as your location, but a white bodied rooster tail with red on it does very nice! Great fishing trip as always!
I didn't know you had Yellow Perch in the States (we just call them Perch in the UK). Can't eat most of our freshwater fish though apart from Trout, have to put the rest back. Watch those spines on the Dorsal fin!
If you've never eaten yellow perch, I seriously recommend trying it. Pan fried or deep fried, either way it is light and flaky and seriously good eating.
There's a lake nearby that has lots of yellow perch... its a great place to take the kids fishing because the perch are super agressive will hit just about anything that will fit in their mouth- we often use 1/8 Oz online spinners and the perch try to inhale them to the point where we end up gut hooking them
Great video as always, I agree yellow perch are hard to hold on to. Becareful with the top fins the spines will draw blood from the palm of your hand been there done that. :)
I’m new to the channel becuase I was looking for a channel with a good bit of trout fishing and came across here and absolutely love it, especially this video becuase I go to this spill way and both lakes (lake koon which is the upper lake, and lake Gordon which is the lower lake) at least once a week and love catching the perch and nice catfish here too. Also they do stock the upper lake with trout!!!😁
This is for anyone who sees this is is just a secret of mine use hypodermic needle (that is if you can find a clean one) and put the air in half the worm it makes it float and fish love it that way especially perch and trout
One of my favorite fish to eat, you should keep some and have a few fantastic meal's. I live in Wisconsin right by the Mississippi and the spring perch run is something I just don't miss out on. We typically catch 11 to 13in perch with plenty of em 14in and some even get to 15, and every once in awhile you get the elusive 16in.
Caught in those clean Waters and Waters cool does perch like cold water. And you catch a mess of them like that fishing a bigger one so good eating. One of the best freshwater fish or whatever have. Stream and came up word with it I'll bet you they were Smallmouth in there.
Hey hawk..great videos..thumbs up on all i watch...was wondering if you ever used a worm called a creme scoundrel for bass before? I luv em...bet you can clean up on those... Keep vids a coming and stay safe..watching from nor calif.
@@FishHawk yeah i like the setup of a spinner and 4 beads in front of the double hooked scoundrel worm..im sure you can probably make yerself as well. Bass pro i belive carries them. Keep up the great fishing.
We catch lots of perch in Europe they are a beautiful fish but are very frail and unless they are lip hooked you will find they almost certainly perish if they are deep hooked. I admire the fact that you enjoy your fishing and show delight when catching. The only thing I found hard to understand was that at the end you mentioned catch and cook!! WHY would you even contemplate killing a stunning fish that grow very slowly and yet on the hardest of fishing days you can rely on this lovely fish to fill your heart with joy. Please go to the café or restaurant for your fish and fries..Thank you for the vlog. 👍Ireland.
In Ontario Canada perch are caught commercially by fishing vessels in Lake Erie lake Huron they sell for 17.99 per lb . They are as good a halibut or cod for eating and are regulated as for catches both commercially and sports fishing so the fishery is not depleted . So I don’t see the issue if some are eaten as compared to buying cod and chips at a restaurant
Fish Hawk is quickly becoming my favorite fishing channel. Just laid back good ole fishing for whatever are my favorite vids and he does them best!
I appreciate it! :)

Learned different rigging. Great film adventure. Fish!!!

real purty! Wish it had some monsters below it like your spillways do lol
Or a PB!!!! Just kidding 618

Try a jig fuzzy rootbeer color with live minnows. If there's perch there could be 6-7 lb walleyes or come back in evening.
Hey man, I wasn't ready to call it a day yet, one more cast!

haha no tv gigs
I’d say you had a good day there, that’s a beautiful spot, nice catches!

Hey Hawk. Thanks for sharing this beautiful spot!!
That's one of my favorite ways to fish. I set out one line with worms or power bait and then cast around some lures.
Usually works out ok for me.
Great to see you using those great Daiwa reels. I love fishing obscure spots
Beautiful place to fish or just sit & meditate with all the nature. 🌲 🌲
Just the sound of the water in the video about made me zone out.
Those are some good sized perch. I love eating perch. One of the best tasting freshwater fish IMO. (Not counting trout/salmon).
Agreed
I'm not much on the catch and cook videos I just like to see the catch videos and you do a good job on those for sure
thank you!
You are so lucky you get to go fishing all the time man
I only fish weekends. Have a full time job. Wish I could fish every day lol

They're delicious!
Where are you that you find these great spots? I live in the city and we have one big lake, 2 smaller lakes, and one LONG 85 mile river feeding them!
I used to catch yellow perch and clean a bunch. I think they are one good eating fish!
I hear they are delicious. I’m keeping some to eat next time 😃

What’s the lake above like , how large is it ?
Man I'd be keeping those things I was there!
what is the action of your light rod when you fish for small trout, perch and bass in creek?
Cool to see some Yellow Perch. Here at my place in Sweden it's pretty common with those at 3-5 pounds 😃
That’s insane haha
Lies as the World Record is around 4 pounds 3 OZ but cool story bro. 5 pounders hahahah oh I've heard some whoppers in my day.
@@triggerfish2711 Haha, alright my mistake. It's not Yellow Perch here in Sweden, but pretty similar to them when i looked it up.
@@sneakeristi1687 hahahah i still seen the original comment.... Yeah but i was about to tell you you're thinking of a different perch.
@@triggerfish2711 They are genetically nearly the same, in the perch family look identical. The Swede is right. Do some research American.

Is the spillway open to public.
We dont have to many of those yellow perch down here in NW AL. They are really fun when I do find them though. 👊👍
do you ever consider using a bait about 3x that size? Or did you know beforehand that the fish were on the smaller size?

I like to play my fish a bit but i notice a lot of fishing vids on both sides of the ponds just drag em out as quick as poss. Whats the hurry?
Minimizes stress to the fish, long fights can be hard for some kinds of fish to recover from
Hello friend always give my 👍🏻 and one question where is this place is look amazing for fishing
Big spillways and dams are great fishing!
I love fishing them
Awesome from GBC 🎣
Wheres that spillway?? Looks like a nice hangout spot😁
I need to ask you something, im a beginner and i dont know is a Salmo Bullhead good lure??
What resolution do you use on the go pro ?
1080p
Fish Hawk just bought a go pro hero 7 black and I’m testing it out , is there a reason why you don’t do it in 4K?
Ha I’m so happy that you uploaded right after I got home from fishing and caught a 5 pound brown

That water looks like it should hold some trout , those Perch are ok but surprised no game fish
I agree. I thought for sure I would catch some other species of fish.
I was wondering if they were good to eat. So yes I would love to see you do a catch and cook on yellow perch.
Look like what we call Redfin here in Australia. Great eating
We eat them in new hampshire! While ice fishing for trout! With scrambled eggs or make like popcorn chicken out of them !
yello perch are one of best eating fish
Yellow perch are very good to eat if they get to a proper size thus rendering a mouth full. Similar to walleye. A little hard to fillet.
Agree all course fish apart from eels are like eating cotton wool stuffed with needles
What’s the beat in the back ground at the beginning
Can I use 7 grams lure in this rod
