I know they're just brainless robots incapable of feeling anything. But the way they look is just creepy and unsettling. It's that type of feeling you get when there's enough recognizable features but not enough for you to be comfortable.
I found that I attributed humanity to them despite their primitiveness. It would be interesting to try engaging one in conversation to see how sentient they actually were. Their main downfall is that they are all identical, no individuality to them whatsoever. I wonder how much cheaper the writers of the game would price then compared to a weyland-yutani model. I'd like to think about a tenth of the price, although still might not be a bargain
I hate those creepy super Joe's with the orange rubber overalls at the Apollo core. Can't cattle-prod 'em, can't EMP them, very satisfying if you can fry them with the floor plates though. It's so nice when you get the occasional white-eyed Joe who let's you go about your business.
I really like the Joes, especially the tanky heavy Joes. I changed them up via a modding tool called OpenCage. Now the heavy Joes (and ordinary Joes) walk faster, walk larger distances to find idle jobs (like the consoles they use in the two rooms near the Human Consultation Chamber), increased the hearing range, meaning if you run in the right hemisphere, all Joes in the left hemisphere will join in, they will check lockers a lot more, I made them more unpredictable (they turn sometimes when they walk if you sneak walk behind them). They visit places where they heard you a second time, not all of them do that but a there's a small chance that it will happen. Joes have a small chance to become suspicious for no reason, will search for you even if you made no sound (2%). You can only really kill them with the bolt gun now, as other weapons do far less damage. All I need now is the cathode script editor to spawn a few more in, I'm planning to put eight instead of four in the Apollo core. Worked on human enemies and the Alien as well to make them a bit smarter and aware. Hoping to release it as a mod for veterans that want a bit more of a challenge :)

I actually understand the appeal of Working Joes. Maybe they could look a bit less creepy, but they're actually quite appealing in a world where people might be worried about the difference between a synthetic and a human. Working Joes were meant to compliment and support Human work, not replace it, which would definitely make a lot of people prefer them over W-Y synthetics.

I think they would make a great Halloween costume. You could have a rubber mask with LED eyes and a voice modulator pair of work gloves and some snazzy looking coveralls boom instant costume. Whoever created the game was definitely an Alien fan trying to add to original creative vision rather than exploit it. I like the approach of keeping the technology at a 1979 level. Just wish it didn't look like a PS3 game on a PS4 Pro.
I looooved the working Joe's. They're are somehow so annoying and creepy that i tend to like them again. They make the game even creepier, when the Alien isn't that active in certain situations. And to get jumpscared by one of em when you try to sneak around several of them is just sooo damn creepy! Tut Tut
I've noticed there are three eye settings on the normal Working Joes. The White internal pupil, the red pupil, and the third is a white disc, larger than the normal pupil. I don't know what these differences mean (if anything). You can occasionally see these different eye settings as they go about there business, but they are mostly found on the dormant joes in the synthetic storage.
The game's selective AI made them annoying at times, one stood in place near a doorway until you walked right behind it. Another one wouldn't move at all, you had to find an alternate route as it turned out. It is satisfying when you work out that you are actually capable of killing them, so you don't have to hide in fear. I've heard of the phenomenon that the human brain has a hard time with a close but not exact copy of something (eg. Open Office), so it's good to see obvious androids in action.

I like these type of Synthetics but they're directly in control by the Apollo AI. In the gameplay I've encountered a Joe inside a Stasis pod in a small room not far from Communications. Went near the pod, jumped into the locker and hidden for a while until the Joe came out of nowhere, pulled me out and attacked me for no reason. I managed to break free after but before I attack, it just stood there with no eye LED activity, no White or red, just a Malfunctioning Joe who just wakes up and attacks you for no reason. I know that the more you play this game the glitches starts to appear but this has happened more than 4 times before I sold the game.

There was a glitched out WJ in the ps3 version of Isolation that would ignore you unless you hid in his locker, and once you mash 'x' the get out of his grip he goes right back to ignoring you. Scared the sense outta me.
One of the big lessons of Alien is that no one is truly prepared to contain the titular Alien. One of the other big lessons is, no one's been smart enough to try containing the Alien by just bullying it with robots who can't be burned, bitten, or egged. I feel like even a xenomorph would feel like it was on the back foot if it was always having to deal with robots.

Remember APOLLO is the central AI that monitors and provides guidance for all the Seegson Working Joe synthetics on Sevastopol Station! Seegson sold out, Weyland-Yutani took control of APOLLO and made sure that the Androids was hostel because they had to protect the Alien. The corporation wants the Alien. Remember, They thought they could capture it in a net, like Dr. Lingard said in one of the audio logs in the game! The corporation made sure the Alien was protected so the only way to do that was to make the Androids hostile!
Ok so, Dont judge me but i did find a mod that lets the working joe in a hostile position when they are met with the alien. Means they will attack the alien but there is a 50% Chance that the joe will win against the alien.
Alien Isolation is often criticized for overemphasizing the Joes. Personally, I love them. And do not believe, the game would have worked with more of the Alien than it already has. Alternative antagonists really siding with the Alien were needed. And the Joes excel in that role.
I've playing video games since the early 90's... Wokring Joe is the creepiest character I've ever seen.. he puts Alien isolation on top of many many horror games including resident evil, dino crisis and silent hill.. If Capcom wants to come back to lead the horror genre.. they should stop making resident evil.. focus on a remake for dino crisis using re engine make it fps like alien isolation and swarm the labs with working joes...

I always enjoy the addition of new machines to any series. much like the combat androids in AvP 2010. i would say seeing them in a film would be awesome, but that's highly unlikely with the way the films are going now. ps, i enjoyed Alien Covenant. just saying. have a good one everyone.
What would happen in the station if Predators are there too? According to the Predator movies the predators won't kill ladies and this charachter is a lady. It would be nice to have a little bodyguard Predator. ☺

@@vitormaodevaca8469 What a shame. The only good thing Ridley Scott did was creating the Neomorphs and showing the Engineers... The Predators were a good concept in the universe even if the AVP sucked a bit.
