- Iran’s President Raisi was killed after a helicopter carrying him and other officials crashed on May 19 due to bad weather. Iranian Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, a key figure in the recent Iran-Saudi Arabia rapprochement, was also killed in the crash. The news of the Iranian President’s helicopter making a “hard landing” triggered an extensive search. The search and rescue operation was however hampered by bad weather and foggy conditions. Iranian Red Crescent Society announced they had found the location of the wreckage after it was detected by a Turkish Akinci UAV. Watch the video to find out about Turkish Akinci.

Iranians making drones, missiles,rockets and many more military equipments but risking their most important people traveling old and outdated equipments is the most hilarious amongst everything they been doing

The funny thing is if this accident happens in the same condition, any different country and equipment is disabled to send any signals many Countries including European, are not easy to find out in the mountains' heavy-foggy cloud , don't forget F35 get crushed in eastern USA and they couldn't find it weeks and they ask help to any farmers or locals if they locate contact immediately to airforce, my guess is Türk's know what they are doing my respects go's to the Türk's

Wow, it's really strange that Iran doesn't have the capacity to find their own president and has to rely on Turkish drones to do it. It really makes you think about the state of their technology and resources. This is a serious situation, and it's surprising to see the reliance on foreign help.

GPS is a passive system, like coastal lighthouses for ships. If a vehicle uses the lighthouse/GPS to have a reference/position, the latter does not know where the vehicle using it is.

The video stops and later after they got the location the video begins on the crash site. The Turkish drone was gliding like a lost paper above the clouds. And could not see any 💩.

It's amazing what the world can accomplish by sitting aside differences and working together.
I'll throw my 2 cents in a give a shout out to the search and rescue team. People who do that work are in it for the extreme experience and the desire to save lives as a side goal. That's a special breed and they probably wouldn't care who was the victim - they have their kit ready to go at the door anytime, anywhere.

There's terrain obstacles like crazy which make a methodical search damn near impossible. We were on a mult-agency response to a 56 yo dementia patient who wandered off her suburban property 72 hours ago and damned if any of us trained people could find her even after searching the same grids carefully over and over. A team went over the same grid covered four times and Voila! There she was. Everyone expected a recovery - not a rescue. Nope. She was laying there in a drainage ditch 200' from her home on her back with her eyes closed. Expecting her dead, a guy shook her shoulder. Eyes popped open and she says, "Well, it's about damn time!" EMS transport to the ED, a couple of IV fluid bags, and she's discharged good as new. It's not always happy - two ground team guys I know refused to give up and spent 5 hours in swamps. 4 year old wandered off. They found him. They don't talk about it.

As an ex-military helo pilot with 10 years experience in accident investigations, I'd like to share some thoughts. I seriously doubt that this helo had a cockpit voice recorder or a black box flight data recorder. Add mountainous terrain, shit for weather and no knowledge of pilots' instrument experience, I can speculate with a very high degree of confidence, this was an accident and not planned event.

They should have stayed grounded untill the weather cleared. i can understand that logic if chopper had low fuel or something. why wouldn't you just keep going at high altitude, towards tehran or whatever? this chopper must have gps right? if not, somebody must have some smartphone? so keep going until you reach some clearing where you can land? keep going until you find a lake at worst scenario? i don't think this was an accident.

How did the drone find the wreckage? Lemme guess before watching...It flew over the site following that last known radar track (at a higher altitude) and captured the images on camera which were relayed back to the operators?
Reminds me of Kobi Bryant's helicopter crash that killed him in California a few years back. Foggy weather, mountainess (sp?) terrain, a very old copter. They should not have been flying in those conditions! Pilots can get disoriented and not know if they are flying up or down in these situations.
And of course, the thumbnail photo is NOT of the actual crashed chopper......
