@@monikaliane not to mention they can have all the self help books they talk about in their mlms and discuss those to their heart’s content. Maybe there should be a book club Facebook group where the main rule is leave the mlm stuff outside the group when you’re on it. Give them a break from having to constantly talk about it. Maybe it would be helpful to them, if not to get them out, then at least give them some time to relax with each other without having to talk about it. Treat each other like normal human beings and not downlines or uplines.

The fact that these girls are on the verge of tears when sharing how they got recruited is a prime example of the type of people this Andrea girl looks for. She pinpointed broken women, made false promises and keeps them there under the illusion that it’s vital to their confidence and self esteem. Not to mention the amount of money they’ve invested is enough to keep them going. This is disgusting.

Agreed. I have 25 years in my STEM field, and I have mentored many a young woman entering the field. They have faced challenges, some like me are “rags to riches” (first-generation college students), and they worry about work-life balance and equitable pay and all of the usual stuff - but I have NEVER heard tales of woe and trauma like I hear from these women. Why are they normalizing the idea of recruiting vulnerable people? Why are they normalizing the idea of someone’s mental health being entirely dependent on their job and “co-workers?” It’s not healthy.

The way they talk about their backs against the wall reminds me of 5 years ago when I left an abusive relationship and became a single mom with zero resources (because of control). I had no job, no bank account, no friends, no car, nothing.
Truly, back against the wall with $1k in rent due in 4 days.
I can't even tell you how many people preyed on me to join their team, and I'm so glad I didn't have a bank account or any access to credit because I was so vulnerable and desperate to not be homeless with my kids.
It just reminds me how much they use the language vulnerable people use to try to relate to them.

I do agree that we can hear inflections and naturally feel whether we believe that someone is being “fake” or not. But we should be cognizant of the fact that our own interpretation of their veracity is our own individual interpretation and may not be correct at all. Also, a person engaging in code switching is not being fake simply because you don’t expect them to speak in that way. It is naive to believe that we can look at someone and determine how they “should” speak. This is an accidentally biased and harmful point of view that many people have. I see it in my own community who looks at people darker than me and says they “should” speak Spanish.

Oh dear god this “meeting”!! I just see a group of really broken women, who’ve been in dark places and have been totally taken advantage of by the toxic positivity and fake friends.
I was in an awful place myself a few years ago - struggling with addiction, trying to escape an abusive relationship etc - and I dread to think what would have happened if someone like Andrea had gotten her claws into me.
Thank you so much Chelsea, for continuing to shine a light on this 🌸

I work in “the corporate world” and I’m incredibly seen, supported and lifted up by my job. I appreciate I’m lucky and it’s the first time in my career that I have that, but I don’t sit on zoom calls trying to recruit people into the business (I’m the Talent Acquisition Manager) by emotionally blubbing about it!

    • @krissmarie7018
      @krissmarie7018 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tamaradavis3693 I can honestly agree with both of y’all’s answers. They’re mainly trying to make themselves sound excited and pumped up about selling their products bc in an MLM scheme like this one, when you’re trying to recruit people to work underneath you, you’re not selling the products so much as your selling the lifestyle (ex. When these ladies are posting on instagram/social media depicting their “boss babe” lives and posting pictures in new products/clothes/jewelry on vacation in a nice place in Mexico talking about how “I could never do this if I worked a corporate job” type thing). That’s just how these marketing companies get you. They sell their lifestyle to you and get you to spend an outrageous amount of money on shitty products all on the faith that “you can make this money back in less than a month” so that you’re now in debt to them for buying your starter pack and then at that point it’s either find a new job or sell this crazy amount of products that you now already spent your money on. But in the grand scheme of things what the cartoon squid said was true for this scenario as well just bc the whole concept is just stupid and these marketing people are trying to make it seem like they all have great lives and can afford to go on an expensive vacation with their families whenever they want when in reality only like 3% of people who work for these companies can actually live like that selling these products alone.

It's interesting how, between this team and JL's Empire team, it seems that the teams themselves are forming into cult-like operations that could move around, between, and beyond the particular MLMs, and maintain their structure without loyalty to a specific MLM, product, etc. Eesh.

That’s a really interesting observation. I speculate it has something to do with the pandemic and the fact that people need to feel connection to others. These charismatic team leaders offer a false sense of connection which is more powerful than the group connection with the MLM. Maybe in the back of their brains these women know the company is a soulless corporation so they attach themselves to the team leader who feels like more of a real person.

There are 3 or 4 people who are in direct competition with me (small business, in the craft industry), with whom I regularly text funny jokes, customer stories, and even ask for help with something we're stuck on. We are in direct competition. But we support each other and encourage each other when we're down, talk about our personal lives, etc. These were some of the first people I told that I am gay. For people that talk so much about "residual income" and "retiring their husbands", they sure have to have a lot of these culty zoom meetings....

Residual income only if the company exists and doesn’t go belly up

It's really sad that these girls are under Andrea who's supposedly high up but they're mostly "Director" rank which is $100-$300 per month not including costs... yikes.

Wow!😳🙄 I didn't realize that Paparazzi was an MLM until I watched your and Hannah Alonzo's Anti-MLM videos! (Subscribed to both within the last few months...) THANKS! 😁
How sad for the countless folks who feel that they joined MLM's thinking that the recruiters, etc. were their new friends. Yeah...until the folks leave the MLM...then blocked. ☹️💔

I am young and a caregiver of my husband who had a stroke 11 years ago. I work for myself as an Online Business Manager and Podcaster and all of my clients know what's going on so when we have to take him to the hospital, it's not a problem. I still get paid and have the ability to do my support when I can. Having to be on lives and constantly pushing to desperately get other people to join my pyramid scheme....this is horrific. :(

Thank YOU Chelsea for bringing humour ,facts and reality to this subject. There are over thousands of legit small businesses and free groups to join ,Savy writes books has and independent business FB page FREE! You can get a connection with some customers without being in an MLM. I know this because my husband owns two small businesses! It's so scary how they think am MLM is the only way . But it's NOT!!! Please keep up the good fight Chelsea! Please give Mr W a hug from me.

I am obsessed with my husband in the clingiest of ways, but if we both worked from home, let alone in the same business, I would lose my freaking mind. You have to have a chance to miss your significant other and you need to have your own identity apart from your marriage, kids, etc. The idea of "retiring a husband" is crazy to me. I want my man out there doing big things and feeling empowered, not at home just being my cheerleader. Side note, we don't have kids so maybe that makes a difference, but still.

The more of these I watch the more I realize why I failed at MLMs. I am just like "...and your point is? Are we ever going to start the meeting? How do I actually sell this, I am in college and only ever had a job in my-going-to-college-for-field?" I didn't want a family, I had one....I wanted money!

I love ur videos and adore ur style. I often wondered if these crazy people believe what they preach bc it so occultish and they are not making the money. Bless u for educating people on these life destroying MLMs. Am screaming at the screen.. It's junk jewelry ur trying to sell ! Good grief 🤦🏼‍♀️

The fact that so many of these women straight up said that this isn't about the jewellery and that it could go away tomorrow, but they'd still be a team gives me WFABB vibes. I could see the same sort of thing happening with these women.

I’m so glad I’ve always been kinda aware that MLMs are problematic. I can see how this one could’ve lured me in with all the FOMO they push. Now that I’ve been fully anti-MLM I’m just so sad for everybody involved and so angry at the people at the top.
