  • This is a raw, unedited video from Kendra Myers. This is part 2 to the George's Creek Cemetery Historical Market Dedication Ceremony. If you haven't watched part 1 go do that then come back to this video. There are more videos available with George's Creek Cemetery as the subject in my George's Creek Cemetery video playlist here on TH-cam.
The Annual George's Creek Cemetery Meeting is held on the first Saturday in May at noon and is followed by a potluck lunch. This years meeting was held on May 4, 2024.
For many, many years, on the first Saturday in May, "there is a meeting of old settlers to clean off the graves and hold a reunion in the old tabernacle." We have a reading of last year’s Minutes and have a meeting about the current year. We enjoy food, fellowship, and family.
"Descendants of the early settlers have gathered each year since 1892 at the George's Creek Cemetery tabernacle for a cleanup, dinner on the grounds, and reunion. In the mid-1970s, about 400 came to renew ties with the community. In 1990 and 2000, the population was reported as sixty-six." Quote from the Texas State Historical Association.
This year was extra special because we had a Texas Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony issued by the Texas Historical Commission.

Hi, I'm Kendra! I have lived most of my life in Texas. I enjoy cooking & preserving food by canning. I love canning so much I started a small canning business in 2011 devoted to jams & pickles. I volunteer as a social media manager for our family cemetery and the family's yearly reunion. I have also volunteered for the State Fair of Texas as a judge in the Creative Arts Division for Canned Goods. When I'm not doing any of those things we're camping or traveling.
