Thanks for the info Stephenchow (great channel name 🤩) I would imagine it was mate as the 4k looks unreal, I think people in the UK might go for the Arrow for ease of picking it up and might not want to import the US blu ray perhaps 🤔 but I always will take Blue Underground releases for their stunning quality 🤩🤩👍👍

Hi again John, I wonder if I'm the only person who went location spotting for a video nasty? Always been a fan of island of death, I find it hilarious. Did a bit of island hopping in Greece a few years back, visiting Mykonos where it was filmed. The town is much more developed than it was in the seventies but all the streets are still the same and you can visit the little church where they murder the painter. I kept off the goats tho.

Great video John, what a fantastic list! I’d definitely have a few of these on here myself, love the Burning for example, it’s a cracking film. And then of course you’ve got Zombie Flesh Eaters, which is one of Fulci’s horror masterpieces, I can see why that’s your all time favourite horror film. Dawn of the Dead _just slightly_ edges it out for me as my all time favourite zombie film, but that’s probably because I saw it first, either way you can’t really go wrong with either film. I’ve got to disagree with you on the Deep Red cut though, I honestly prefer the Director’s Cut, I love the extra scenes and they help to build up the characters really well on top of what’s already there, absolutely love Marcus and Gianna’s relationship, it’s one of the hilights of the film for me, and personally I’ll always take more of it. I’ll give it to you though that the Export Cut is the leaner film, (it’s also fully in English, the language shift in the Director’s Cut was a little jarring the first time round but I got used to it 🤣) but I personally don’t mind a little fat if you get what I’m saying. Regardless of our opinions though, we both agree it’s the best Giallo ever made and the shining jewel in Argento’s filmography! Love your channel!

This was about2/3 years ago, i didnt know much about cult cinema and movies then, but when getting into it that title 'zombie flesh eaters' just drew me in and i had to buy it. Hi John. Fulci Eye-splittingly takes No.1 and rightly so. 😜 I love the Voodoo/Caribbean setting and feel. It goes from New York to the Caribbean - what an adventure. Those rotting Fulci zombies are arguably better than any Romero zombies. They just look so rotting and just imagine them stalking around in the Caribbean heat 🤮😜😂 throw in some Dr Moreau with the doctor doing experiments on the island, zombie wrestling sharks (let’s throw in some Jaws) it’s such a film bursting with great ideas, gore and all round quirky Italian fun. 😜😂

Hi John, Fine list of some video nasties classics, “The Burning” a personal fav of mine from the vhs beta max era, I do wonder in what it could of been if a sequel had been made 🤔, Cropsey was a superb serial killer & the raft kills still holds up today, BRUTAL 😳. “The Thing” is my all time horror movie 😎. I don’t what it is but “Zombie flesh eaters” didn’t really do it for me & I actually prefer other Zombie movies like “Dawn of the dead” & “Day of the dead” but I get it that’s it’s a Arrow video nasties list, well thought out Sir 😎👍
The Burning is a great slasher movie. It's one I would read about in magazines and books about banned movies that I always wanted to see but never thought I would. When it was finally unbanned and released uncut I wasn't disappointed. It has some great gore scenes but even without them it would still be a really entertaining movie because the characters are so realistic and fun to watch just as a teen comedy.
I luckily saw it on release on VHS and it was a firm favourite of ours and it has the lot doesn't it!! On this recent rewatch after MANY years of not watching it, I got hoe much of a well made movie it was!! It works on a lot of levels that other slashers failed in and funnily enough The Burning is one that gets mentioned the least 😲😲 cheers Gary mate 🤩🤩👍👍

Great vid, John. I'm glad I watched it because I thought Deep Red was a snooze fest when I watched it but maybe I watched the wrong cut. I got Zombie from Blue Underground the other day, along with The House by the Cemetery so having a fulci 4K double bill this weekend 👍

Thank you John for sharing your personal Arrow video nasties list. I do have the blue underground 4k for Zombie and it is certainly a gem for picture and sound quality. It has come a long way since I saw it on Beta as an X rated film many years ago. I might have to get the arrow release for the extras.

Another great video John. No love for The Beyond mate! Also Dawn of the Dead could have been included, even though now it’s been superseded. I agree about Zombie Flesh Eaters, it’s easily one of my favourite films ever. The Burning also holds a special place for me. Now, I watched Deep Red last year for the first time and was getting bored in places. It was the longer version because that’s all you get in the standard release, with the Ltd. Ed. being OOP. I understand that both versions are included in the 4k set though.
Hi Christopher, the Beyond and Dawn of the Dead would have been in but I no longer own them on Arrow mate, so I'm just going through the ones I physically have, this list might have been different 5 years ago but I've got rid of a few doubles 👍👍 ZFE and The Burning are such great films 🤩🤩 yeah the longer cut of Deep Red really does drag in places unfortunately 🥴🥴 yeah the 4k has both cuts, if you ever track it down try the shorter cut it's much better mate 🤩🤩👍👍

Totally agree with your no1 choice, I have 4 version of zombie flesh eaters and today I received the New 4k Restoration version of the movie Can't wait to watch it. Do you have the special Edition of The last house on the left and if you do is it the best version to get on DVD.

You've convinced me. Although I'm not a zombie guy, I will check out the Lucio Fulci film. One note about the Arrow edition of The Last House on the Left. Putting aside the content, the visual quality of the film is far from stunning. I suspect the challenge is the original source footage but it sometimes looks like it was dubbed from a second-hand VHS tape. Finally, a question: Do your younger fans know who Rick Wakeman is? 😁
Zombie Flesh Eaters is such a great all round movie!! I can't recommend it enough!! Plus there is a fight between a Zombie and a real Shark!!! Wow 👌👌 yeah Last House, looks very grubby... Fantastic top-10 list John. I think you know where I stand when it comes to my favorite video nasty released from Arrow it was always going to be the thing for me. I think the burning would have been a close second. Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm almost sure I am but I have to ask but was demons not classed as a video nasty back in the day. I only ask because I know it would have been in your top 10. I knew instantly what your number one was going to be and I need to get that blu underground release
Yeah Keith would have bet my money on The Thing for yourself 👌 shame the 4k doesn't have all the extras on 🥴 yeah Demons completely passed the nasties thing by, think that's why it did so well on VHS as it was probably the most gory movie on the shelves in 85!! 😲😲 yeah never on any list!! Wow!! When you see Zombie on 4k you will be BLOWN away!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍
Demons was released just after the video nasties bans 85/86 and by that time every video tape was now bbfc certified and almost every release… and I mean EVERY release was cut or just outright refused a certificate new york ripper, TCM2 etc..by the bbfc. In demons case it was heavily cut in England in order to be passed 18. Loads more would have been banned back then had they been submitted by their distributors fully uncut , rosemarys killer( the prowler), beyond the darkness , the beyond etc etc…🤦♂️.

@@MondoChelloveckMovies yea day of the dead and street trash came out around the same time too and were really gory… though it would be a few yrs later I realised even they were both trimmed🙄. 5 or so yrs later i realised I could get fully uncut versions from other countries in Europe and so began to import and build a huge collection ( customs pending🤬) many I still have lol.
The Thing video nasty? Hmm... Good list though and Zombie flesh eaters of course has to take top spot. Got an Arrow release and another uncut UK dvd release aswell as the uncut precert and a Vipco cinema version VHS that was put out in the early nineties 📼📼📼.
Yeah it was a Section 3 video nasty, probably just down to the VHS cover I would imagine 🤔 most of these nasties weren't even watched just lumped into the whole debacle down to covers or titles!! Great versions of Zombie Flesh Eaters mate 👏👏 I remember the vipco dvd 🤩🤩👍👍
Personally, I find Deep Red is not as good as Tenebrae. It has serious pacing issues for me. But it is a lot better in the shorter cut. Great soundtrack, though. And very stylish.
Tenebrae is a great movie! Plays out so well, I just think Deep Red offers more to me ,especially the music!! Yeah the shorter cut is by far the best 🤩🤩👍👍Tenebrae has got to get a 4k soon!! Cheers Paul 👌👌
I have the Driller Killer on one of those dodgy double feature dvds. The quality is terrible, put me off the film to be honest. Might pick up the Arrow version if I see it cheap somewhere.
It was the same with me Rob, first saw it on a 5th generation VHS then saw it on dvd and as you say the quality wasn't much better, the Arrow one is a total revelation and actually the movie kind of does come to life and becomes literally a different movie...plus you have a longer cut, so it's a great upgrade mate 🤩🤩👍👍

It has some great gore scenes but even without them it would still be a really entertaining movie because the characters are so realistic and fun to watch just as a teen comedy.
I luckily saw it on release on VHS and it was a firm favourite of ours and it has the lot doesn't it!! On this recent rewatch after MANY years of not watching it, I got hoe much of a well made movie it was!! It works on a lot of levels that other slashers failed in and funnily enough The Burning is one that gets mentioned the least 😲😲 cheers Gary mate 🤩🤩👍👍

I got Zombie from Blue Underground the other day, along with The House by the Cemetery so having a fulci 4K double bill this weekend 👍

Just stumbled over this fab channel! Agree 100% on Zombie Flesh Eaters, what a movie. I remember buying the Arrow blu ray windowbox by chance back in 2011ish. It sits pride of place in the collection, only 500 ever made. What would you say is your most treasured edition?

Thank you John for sharing your personal Arrow video nasties list. I do have the blue underground 4k for Zombie and it is certainly a gem for picture and sound quality. It has come a long way since I saw it on Beta as an X rated film many years ago. I might have to get the arrow release for the extras.

Hey John, bringing out Killer Clowns as your number one was so funny. I really like the Killer Clowns from Outer Space but there is nothing worthy of being banned in it. I also really like The Dickies who do the title track for the film. Really great list mate 😉👍👍

I agree about Zombie Flesh Eaters, it’s easily one of my favourite films ever. The Burning also holds a special place for me.
Now, I watched Deep Red last year for the first time and was getting bored in places. It was the longer version because that’s all you get in the standard release, with the Ltd. Ed. being OOP. I understand that both versions are included in the 4k set though.
Hi Christopher, the Beyond and Dawn of the Dead would have been in but I no longer own them on Arrow mate, so I'm just going through the ones I physically have, this list might have been different 5 years ago but I've got rid of a few doubles 👍👍 ZFE and The Burning are such great films 🤩🤩 yeah the longer cut of Deep Red really does drag in places unfortunately 🥴🥴 yeah the 4k has both cuts, if you ever track it down try the shorter cut it's much better mate 🤩🤩👍👍

Nice top 10 John John, The Burning is also 1 of my favourite early 80s slasher film. I bought the 4k version of An American Werewolf In London & it looks great.

Totally agree with your no1 choice, I have 4 version of zombie flesh eaters and today I received the New 4k Restoration version of the movie Can't wait to watch it. Do you have the special Edition of The last house on the left and if you do is it the best version to get on DVD.

I bought it on Saturday from Amazon for £18, and it is a lovely version, even has a slip cover. The version you show, goes for £33, which is ridiculous. Keep up the good work.

One note about the Arrow edition of The Last House on the Left. Putting aside the content, the visual quality of the film is far from stunning. I suspect the challenge is the original source footage but it sometimes looks like it was dubbed from a second-hand VHS tape.
Finally, a question: Do your younger fans know who Rick Wakeman is? 😁
Zombie Flesh Eaters is such a great all round movie!! I can't recommend it enough!! Plus there is a fight between a Zombie and a real Shark!!! Wow 👌👌 yeah Last House, looks very grubby... Fantastic top-10 list John. I think you know where I stand when it comes to my favorite video nasty released from Arrow it was always going to be the thing for me. I think the burning would have been a close second. Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm almost sure I am but I have to ask but was demons not classed as a video nasty back in the day. I only ask because I know it would have been in your top 10. I knew instantly what your number one was going to be and I need to get that blu underground release

Demons was released just after the video nasties bans 85/86 and by that time every video tape was now bbfc certified and almost every release… and I mean EVERY release was cut or just outright refused a certificate new york ripper, TCM2 etc..by the bbfc. In demons case it was heavily cut in England in order to be passed 18. Loads more would have been banned back then had they been submitted by their distributors fully uncut , rosemarys killer( the prowler), beyond the darkness , the beyond etc etc…🤦♂️.

Good list though and Zombie flesh eaters of course has to take top spot. Got an Arrow release and another uncut UK dvd release aswell as the uncut precert and a Vipco cinema version VHS that was put out in the early nineties 📼📼📼.

Personally, I find Deep Red is not as good as Tenebrae. It has serious pacing issues for me. But it is a lot better in the shorter cut. Great soundtrack, though. And very stylish.

I had the burning and Zombie flesh eaters and I couldn’t get over the bad make up special effects,so I traded them in.
Yeah some people can't look past the effects, personally I like early 80s practical effects myself 🤩👍👍👍
I prefer the bird with the crystal plumage to deep red.

I have the Driller Killer on one of those dodgy double feature dvds. The quality is terrible, put me off the film to be honest. Might pick up the Arrow version if I see it cheap somewhere.
It was the same with me Rob, first saw it on a 5th generation VHS then saw it on dvd and as you say the quality wasn't much better, the Arrow one is a total revelation and actually the movie kind of does come to life and becomes literally a different movie...plus you have a longer cut, so it's a great upgrade mate 🤩🤩👍👍
