Immediately thought he needed horse chiro. And if he is a stallion, geld him. Some are just so full of hormones and being not the leader of a herd abuses so much inner turmoil.

Supposed to read causes turmoil. They are ver hot, i knew that they did have another gait but not like this, or is it over exaggerated for display. Icelandic ponies have an extra called a toll

    • @luadraponies

      Auto correct! TOLT.
But lack lack a canter. They pace. Rocky Mountain as well.

@@luadraponies This exaggerated gait,is very hard on the hooves, legs and back...
Navicular disease causes terrible pain and lameness...
(How to ruin a horses hooves and legs,,,,
Do this as a party piece...)
I saw too much of this, working here, as the road work, using this gait,
causes far too much pressure, rotating the navicular bone,
also I have an issue with the size of some of the riders, considering how they Have to move...
Its a sad fact, does anyone see any of these fine horses enjoying retirement?
Before I get all the hate at me,consider will you, that Im not being mean, equine welfare is my point here.
However, the Icelandic tolt gait, isnt used in such an intensive way, nor is it exclusively
on hard ground. They are a hardy, strong, healthy pony,as they are bred for health and temperament, not Looks.

The horse has a brain structure of all mammals, exactly like ours. Thus, horses experience all the same emotions. I grew up breaking and training thoroughbreds and quarter horses. One of my degrees is clinical psychology. Therefore, I can say authoritatively that applying horse psychology makes all the difference in working with their problems. When I was young we did not have the horse whisperers that we do today. Today, working successfully WITH horses is not brutal. I greatly appreciated the sensitivity of Jorge. Good job!

Martin is the Ceasar Milan of horses. The man's a god send. I've had horses for a lot of years. And thankfully never had to deal with one like enigma. A beautiful horse 🐎 who was in pain. And the owners had no idea. Once he's pain was under control he started to calm down. I hope the owners don't allow him to bebin pain again..

  • @Far2hip
    @Far2hip 3 ปีที่แล้ว +122

What a beautiful horse. I think that when you bring a horse like this from a state of anger and aggression, such as that which Enigma had flowing through him, and bring them to a calm trusting place, the bond of trust can be much greater than in a situation of greater original compliance. There is just a higher level of dynamics in the horses personality and character and it takes a greater level of commitment and understanding to gain that bond of trust. But once that bond of trust is reached, all that dynamic character forms into an amazing horse that will deliver extraordinary results. The boldness in the aggression is turned into confidence and pride and having that in a horse with such a dynamic character, the experience with them can be absolutely amazing. In just 5 days after being basically uncontrollable, Enigma pulled in a third place ribbon in a competition that requires control and poise. But the aggression was turned into intensity that came out in the exact traits most desired in competition which was simply amazing. Awesome job by the trainer and a true blessing for the horses owner. Great story to watch.

never cease to amaze me that people create these problems then say "I don't know what's wrong with the horse," when they should be asking what they did wrong to create the issues. funny thing being the lead mare came up to me and put her head up to my head!
I was not nervous as a matter of fact I felt such an electric connection!
Then the boss man (stud muffin) decided enough! And guided us back to the path to the boat!

Typical male, Spanish attitudes toward animals. Spaniards conquered the new world brutally and forced it to bend to their will and their customs and those attitudes still dominate. And before anyone accuses me of being culturally ignorant or prejudiced: I am a Spanish teacher with 34 years experience teaching the history of peninsular Spain and their conquest of Latin America as well their literature from 1335 to the present.

Loved how Martin knew to begin with playing....how I healed my Friesian gelding, with play and allowing him to be a horse again. Didn't ride him for two years, lots of bodywork and emotional healing work, and LOTS of ground work! Do it on the ground before in the saddle! Trauma to a horse requires confidence building and that takes time....Enigma, what a fitting name..be careful how you name your horses...be safe folks and listen to the horse's behavior as his best attempts to communicate!

Wonderful video. So happy for Enigma. I believe his name has a lot to do with his behavior. Ive seen many of named people and animals that are a lot like their names. I could blow your mind on that one . I also believe that horse understand as all animals do . I’ve studied this and I’ve owned a lot of animals through the years and have tested this theory myself . I mean they really understand what your saying as in not just commands. Don’t assume because they don’t talk back that they don’t understand you . The Horses are so beautiful . Thank you .

It's great that Martin recognized the back pain but nothing was done to determine the cause or treat it, except a temporary shot. Horse chiropractors can help such horses. The owners do not care about this horse, only whether he can perform so that they can be proud. I was shocked that he'd been in a competition FOUR years before, so he had been kept isolated in that small stall all that time. The the owners think he should be cured of his physical pain, lack of exercise, and psychological distress in a week.

@@donnacsuti4980 - Donna? At least the present owners paid good money to have this gifted trainer work with their horse. Yes? All humans are on learning curves and although their ‘competition deadline’ irked me to no end as well, I think that this “gentle approach” training has moved the owners horse awareness to a higher level. A move to a new owner would likely traumatized Enigma all of again. Enigma is best where he is - surrounded by people who watched him grow with the patience kindness that Martin demonstrated during his brief one week duration. I LOVED the manner and technique in which Martin trained Enigma. I wonder if his training work is shown in other TH-cam videos?
Anyone know the last name of this trainer? He’s very talented.

That horse could have killed or seriously injured an adult or child, the trainer or himself.

So many horses were damaged mentally because of that cruel mentality. And I hope enigma becomes a healthy strong and kind horse. Because that's the kind of horse he is and most animals react like he is because they are in pain and people need to realize this thank you or what you are doing
