I live in a (former) farm community in which the farms are turning into developments and the people who crapped all over the cities are escaping the work of their hands to “live in the country”, and they’re building another city that they will surely turn into something none of us will recognize. The municipalities tax the land so bad the people have to sell it, then developers swarm in like a pack of wolves with the machines and trucks and soon what was is no more.
Circa 1985 Rural Vermont: I remember as a teenager all the elders talking about how the “flat landers” were going to turn the state into exactly what “they” all proclaimed to be escaping…the city. I left for the service @ 17 yrs old to return to find…in a few short years everything changed. Just as the “old hippies” predicted, my own parents included! Now I’m an “old hippie”, looking at the state I grew up in, the tradition, the old ways that I grew up with are…gone. I can’t get dental care as I battle this tooth but the state will pay for me to change my “sexual orientation”? Housing? Forget about it. You gotta have $$$ to afford such luxuries as dental care & affordable housing in Vermont. What was “The Green Mountain State”, where tradition and history ran deep is now a hollowed out and cold place. With big city problems hidden within the rural backroads & homes. The mountains that once offered a winters full bounty are all now posted, wired off, and not accessible. A once proud, family oriented, truly beautiful rural state now a fentanyl stained, haven for the wealthy…still turning into a little New Haven, New York, taxachusetts.
This young American just burnt the entire music industry establishment to the ground! "Me and this guy who shreds met 3 weeks ago and this is the 3rd time we have played live together."🤯

My Pop died in April this year. Hard and complicated man from the hills of Western North Carolina (his people were immigrants from Europe, through Virginia). About 4 days before he left this Earth, I introduced him to Oliver Anthony’s music. I’m not sure if he listened or not, but I know if he did he would have loved his sound and taken it to Heaven with him.
