- Walkthrough of cracking the three wheel tumbler / 3-dial combination of a Life Doodle Diary. My daughter got it for a gift, tried to set it herself and did, then forgot the combination she set. Tried 000-999 guessing, multiple objects and a beer can shim is what finally worked.

Thanks for the solution that made heroes out of grandparents. Here's some additional details on the solution that worked for me. Instead of the aluminum can, I used 1 leg of a paper fastener (2 thin metal strips joined by a cap on one end. Remember those?). Rotate the left dial until a number is centered. Insert the leg into the left side of the dial until the tip touches the dial axle. Move the tip across the axle and the axle should feel smooth. Rotate the dial to the next number and repeat. At one of the numbers, you should detect a slight depression at the middle of the axle that is a groove on the axle. Note the number and repeat feeling the axle for the remaining numbers which should feel smooth. When satisfied that the noted number was the only one with a depression, repeat with the remaining dials. Now that you have a 3 digit number, add 5 to each digit to get the unlock code. For example, 7-4-5 would result in 12-9-10 or 2-9-0. Rotate the dials to the unlock code. Push the button to the right and jiggle the latch and it should pop open. You may also have to press down on the latch if it is too tightly held by the lock.

Worked for me! You’re a lifesaver! It opened exactly where the notch was, didn’t need to count backwards (just fyi for others having the same scenario). Thank you, my daughter somehow changed the code accidentally. For hours, we tried everything to open her journal to no avail … and then I found your video and this method worked for us in 2 minutes. 🎉 She is so happy and I feel such a great sense of accomplishment lol. 😊
Kid got a similar journal and wrote the code in the journal so he wouldn't forget...

Bro, just tried it rn. It was the only thing that ACTUALLY helped. It WORKED. I couldn’t find the same diary as mine at anyone’s video and your diary isn’t the same as mine at all, but I tried and it REALLY did work. My diary is called “The Secret Garden”.
Here’s a few tips: you can use aluminum from medicine cards. The notch is very tiny, you will feel it and the noise will be different from the other numbers. Also, you can bring your phone light on it and check for the notch, it will be visible, it’s like a little hole. Then, just follow the rest of the video and switch forwards counting down 5 numbers and it will OPEN!!!

Foe my diary, it didn’t work, BUT I found two notches on the right side of each wheel that bracketed the correct number. All you have to do is shine a flashlight or headlamp on the right side of the wheel and turn the wheel until the number with a notch above and below it is facing UP. So it for all three numbers and it opens. No need to spin the wheel 180 degrees or anything else.

This helped! Thanks! I could see a little dot, and lined them, and rolled them up 6 instead of 5, after lining up the notches, if u just keep rolling up the numbers together at the same time, it’ll open as it did for me, after the 5th or 6th roll. Great stuff!
We have a slightly different book than this but your video and aluminum can trick worked! If I didn't know it might work, I would have given up because the indents are sooo small. But I stuck with it and it worked!

Thanks, it didn't worked for me but it gave the clue I needed, I aligned all the numbers in which I felt a notch and chose the opposite, and it worked, maybe I have a different type of lock

Tried to search on both sides of each dial and don't feel anything. Curious, what size notch am I looking for? How deep is it? Is it centered in the gap or off to one side? (I've scratched side to side and back and forth on each number on both sides of each dial and it all feels exactly the same).
Additionally, I'm curious if the notch actually moves with the numbers of the code is reset?
This def works - FYI, on my kids diary the notch was on the other side of the dial, so if you dont feel the notch at first, try both sides.

Bruh, maybe put ur diary somewhere else? Hid ur diary? Don’t have a diary and instead but ur thoughts into ur phone? There is probably a website that you can use as a diary. Be smarter

Oh! Maybe that’s where my child went wrong. The password made didn’t work so maybe it was slid in the wrong direction which changed it.
