Could you make a video about sight-reading? How important is sight-reading? And why? I heard from another professional pianist that your level on the piano is only as good as your sight-reading level/skill
Not true, I suck ass at sight reading but would consider myself pretty good otherwise, it’s like saying the hand size is proportional to your 3rd leg, sometime it’s true, sometimes it’s not
I agree. My prime days of sight-reading was when I had to accompany many many people for my scholarships at Eastman. Now that my collaborative side reduced, my piano playing is much better than 10 years ago.
@@SuperDieu_6666but your ability to recognize patterns and the harmonic scaffolding in the score becomes incredibly good, as a result you‘ll be able to get familiar with new pieces much quicker and be able to expand your repertoire. And the more you come into contact with different and new pieces and repertoire the more adept and sophisticated you will become on the piano.
@MarxistischerMillionaer Yes ofc sight-reading helps a lot but isn't necessarily correlated with skill level (although I'm working on it because it kinda sucks to suck)
