Dude u seriously might be one of the best instructors on youtube!! I subscribed as soon as i watched this video. You are concise and interesting the whole time!
Short distances for prospector is spectre for fast stage 1qt jumps, for vk-00 it takes more time to accel in shorter distances making it slower in general
Enjoying your videos, keep em coming plz. Quality SC content, but also just good vibes. That tip about zooming the scanner is huge. Regarding rental prospectors: I upgraded mine with a Hofstede, Rieger C2, and Mole ore pods, with the tractor tool and a helpful friend. Mole pods give 48 SCU. Managed to keep the upgraded rental intact until I saved enough to buy a prospector of my own. I like your recommended loadout: Hofstede + Rieger. I carry several components onboard -- frequently using the Optimax, and occasionally using the Sabir, or swapping in a Surge or Stampede module (depending on the rock's resistance/stability). I carry the FLTR, in case I get a really good rock with high inert content, but have yet to actually use it. I was enjoying the Helix a few patches ago, and will give that a try after I've spent money on more important things (like a Freelancer Max). The Helix requires high server FPS to be feasible/enjoyable. I think I recall cracking around 20k max with it. PS I never noticed the refinery kiosk signout bug, and I don't think I've ever been burned by it. I just back away from the kiosk after confirming the work order.
I've been trying for a few days how to adapt the loadout of my Prospector to the 3.22 changes and I've just tested yours and it works nicely, great video!
One thing to keep in mind on minimum power for the prospector lasers is unlike solo mole mining you can back away from a rock when mining in the prospector and the further away from optimal you get the less power you apply to the rock. This lets you get away with using high minimum powers on smaller rocks. So with the prospector, you have dual power control. Distance from optimal and your laser power.
This is such fantastic tutorial, thanks so much! I had read others recommending the Lancet and put that on first thing - my optimal window was like 3 pixels high :D
You can also change bags for more SCU 32>48, just take them from ARGO MOLE with tractor beam (need unlock ship components R.ALT+K) then when you have them just store Prospector, after thru Mobiglas remove power plant save and close Mobi ,reopen Mobi move back power plant save and close again and now you have biger bags even after claiming Prospector
I’ve had good luck cracking 17k mass rocks in a prospector running a helix + reiger c3 + gadget. It can get a bit dicey but it’s so frustrating to find high percentage bex or tara rocks in the 12-17k range and not be able to crack them. As for breaking smaller rocks I use distance to help cope with the minimum power of the helix. I’ll put my laser around 75% and creep forward from past max range until the bar starts moving. That leaves me with the ability to drop my power low enough to avoid overcharge but with a bit of headroom to bring the bar up faster if needed. At any rate, nice video with clear and concise descriptions and aid for new people.
Thank you so much for the video - learned quite a bit, thank you! Is there ever a scenario, with any setup, where you can break a impossible rock in a Prospector?
If you're strapped for AUEC try renting. But make sure you have enough for refining. Using Ferron Exchange refining method, we were refining for 8000-10000 auec a turn. You can make good money. You might need to rent a cargo ship to move it efficiently.
Hey man, nice vid here. Im new and wonted to try some mining, but for me my rented Prospector wouldnt start the mininglaser. Any suggestions on what to do or to change to make it work?
I am not sure how redmonster is extrapolating the data from game files, but the numbers on his website are not accurate with reality. I tried calliope and clio, which are supposed to have a mass index 1-3 and 2-4, but majority of the clusters had rocks above 100k mass. The only place where mass of rocks was indeed small is cellin, however cru l1 has the worse refinery possible in the whole stanton.
I was actually looking for loadouts other than the mining laser, but this guide was very helpful. Thank you.

Awesome video! VK-00 is a solid choice for fast QT jumps. If you want a balance of speed/distance, go for the Atlas.

Great tutorial man thanks!
An incredible tutorial. I was able to even learn a couple of things although I have been mining in SC since 2019 :)

That should work with the mole too, but you will need a pilot for that.
@@fuselpeter5393yea, but that's why I specified solo mole mining 😄
@@kiykiy_maitai yeah i see. my bad
Just getting back into SC after a little bit and never tried the mining system before. A great guide, i'll be excited to try it out later on

Hey, that tool looks familiar! Nice video!

great job
I didnt catch anything about swapping out the ore bags with the ones from the Mole. You can get 48 SCUs of ore storage instead of the default 32.
thank you !
Nice !! Question - where do you sell the refined ore? Thx
I absolutely love mining in this game, but sadly I'm only doing hand mining ATM, looking real hard at this ship.

Very cool video! useful and and well done! Can you do the same série than the mole one for the prospector ? Thanks !

Thanks for the video, but i am struggling too even crack a 3200 mas rock at the moment. Even with your setup.
Might need to do some mining
hmm what do you do after refining?
My Optimax gadget disappeared after the rock it was attached to cracked angry. So that's a $27k piece of gear destroyed ? I think it's not worth it ?
Prospector vs Roc DS + Freelancer Max? Which do you prefer?
Can you tell me what's the difference between Hofstede S1 & S2 where you prefer S1? I don't see where one is so much better over other one.
s1 for prospector s2 for mole. S is just the size
Ah thx very much @@MezmoinMobz.

I feel asleep.. I usually love mining in MMOs, it is so boring in SC
Getting out of your ship to attach a gadget is the dumbest gameplay ever.
Couldn’t disagree more.
@pimpmastafunk69 I agree with you its all about realism. Doing everything manually is what attracted me to this game.
