I just spent 10 days there. I stayed in Centrio Tower. Great breakfast place is CDO Hungry Breakfast. Kenny Rogers was horrible. Bigsby's was also good. Did all 3 of the malls and had a wonderful time. I will be moving permanently in early 2025. Probably spend the first year in Gingoog and then get a place in CDO Uptown.
We were just there in CDO for Christmas and New Year's with my wife's family. We live in Seattle USA but my wife is from there. I have been there 20 times and we built our house there and are almost done building our Beach Hotel there in between CDO and the Laguindingan airport in Opol Beach. Come back next year and stay at our boutique hotel called OHANA BEACH SUITES. LOVE CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY!!!

The Limketkai area near Robinsons was okay to stay in but I was always woken up by a nearby Mosque's call to prayer at 4:30am daily. The only area I liked was the uptown area, which was more modern. Saw quite a few expats around there at the condos and in the SM mall nearby. The downtown itself wasn't particularly nice.
Props to your video formula. I notice the format and it works well. Preview, You speak the Intro, then Video. I like it. Oro is gold in Spanish by the way. There's a Cuban restaurant near me (been there forever) called El Gallo de Oro (The Golden Rooster). Great video. Enjoyed it👍
Was in CDO during Sendong in 2011, big disaster. Cars ending up in trees and many body bags due to the typhoon. They even find a baby at sea in a coolbox.... Lots of adventures in Mindanao since early nineties. Nowadays it gets more popular!!!
Have dinner at the Ridge, nice 180 degree view of the city. Amaya Resort during daytime is also a nice view of the city. Underrated FS Catanico Falls is only about 15 min drive from the CBD, but you need a local to go there.
Mortarrella wasn't so popular when i visited i thinkit dependson the area of the Philippines, mostly jeepney, tricycle with wagon or motor bike with side wagon is what i seen. For those that don't know Mortarrella is a bus hybrid with motor bike, a jeepney is a bus hybrid with a jeep truck.

Very cool Alex you went to Cagayan De Oro. My parents have a boarding house that someone is renting there. I might go there with my parents for my Mom's birthday coming up but it's a long drive to where we have to pass through and my parents are in their 70's and I don't have a Filipino drivers license yet so we are not so sure yet. If me and my parents go there we have to pass a city called Butuan which is about 1 hour and 20 minutes by car and 2 hours and 20 minutes by bus and then from there a dangerous 6 hour drive because buses and cars have to drive up mountains and I've seen a few accidents along the way there but Cagayan is a nice city to be in and it's convenient to just walk to the malls right next to each other
All I can say Wow Alex!! I'm also visiting from Canada. Out in Ozamiz City. Lol are you making your way down here from Cagayan de Oro not far. But tight budget. With only a few days left
Is it possible to get a weekly or monthly rate at an air b&b cheaper than the daily rate. I haven't seen them advertised. Do you just ask and see if they offer it?
Tickle your adrenaline by doing White Water Rafting in CDO. The view along the river is awesome. About 90 km away is Iligan City, the city of waterfalls. Iligan City has about 25 waterfalls within the city boundary but most of them are hard to access.
I had a ldr with a girl in CDO. I had to break it off realizing that I probably couldn't see her in person. She was a beautiful and nice woman. Even though it was closs to 20 years i still wonder what could've been or if shes still alive

@amazonseller-yf8vv inflation here is real. Still good prices compared to US or Canada. BUT still really high for Philippines EVEN compared to just 4 or 5 years ago. This was just a half of a sour mango. Or a refilled soda

I have a one roon Penhouse with floor to ceiling windows, a big loft, and all utiliities included for about $600 a month which actually seems a lot cheaper than what i'd get in BGC for eample. But Anways I hope to be over there by summer to check things out and consider living there. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
I just left downtown cdo. It literally smells like a giant garbage waste site. Freaking gross. Nothing to see there nothing to do. Same food as everywhere else in ph .
You’re in Downtown Cagayan de Oro… go to Uptown also, it’s beautiful up there. Uptown Cagayan de Oro is my favorite place.

Unlike any other cities in Mindanao, their Airport is not located within the city. It's from a different Municipality (town) called Laguindingan.
