    Great work! It brings home how much quality was produced after the Beatles split. Such a shame that we didn't have the chance to hear many more John solo albums after 1980. I'd love to see you select solo tracks for an imaginary "Beatles" album post 1970! Thanks for this and the other videos...always great to watch.

    wow James, that was one epic video! No wonder it took you a few years to do this haha. To say I enjoyed it would be an understatement of epic proportions. I actually typed out your list as you were going along and will save it on my computer if I ever dare to attempt this in the future to see how we compare. I don't think it would be that far too to be honest, our opinions on solo Beatles records lines up as well as most anyone. For now I'll just say I agree with your #1 album , and "Isn't it a Pity" is my all time favorite solo Beatles song, despite my hero Paul McCartney, George gets top prize for me in best album and best song. The rest well, I would have to think about that a long time so I won't do that here, but perhaps in the future I can give you more of a complete list. Fantastic job James, love your Star Wars shirt, and take care.
    PS - Wondering if you didn't include the other Ringo albums because they were released on vinyl? Or maybe because you haven't heard them? I think there is 4 other albums. Probably doesn't matter much, I've never heard them myself, but I'm just curious. Thanks again James.

    Wow James! Unbelievable effort on your part. Especially great that you have so many of the solo Beatles' albums on vinyl. I'm guessing that your views will of course change over time (as mine have). It's really interesting how we can all connect with albums based on their release time and our age. As I'm 55, I cannot go past albums like Venus & Mars, whilst you luv 'New' more than me. I believe that albums upon release always have the most impact on each of us when we are 13-25 years of age. Yet it is grouse (sic) when an old fart like me comes across an album/artist these days that blows me away!All the best....... GAZ (Melbourne/Australia)

    Great video, James.. I am impressed that you were able to rank 55 albums! And though of course I would have my changes here and there, overall I think you did an outstanding job. I honestly was unaware that you owned so many different solo LPs. I like that you gave Ringo many kudos in your video, and most notably treated SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY with such respect. I did notice that you missed some albums, mainly the RIngo ones that were only on CD and not on Vinyl. Also, am I right in guessing you were not counting Paul's ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS with the rest?

      Since i mentioned Ringo`s live album.. Why not rate their live albums and compilations? I believe that Ringo`s VH1 album is the best live album made by any of the four. I would give it a 9/10. Ringo and his band are playing their hearts out, and Ringo`s stories are very interesting and funny, and the song selections are excellent. Maybe i should check out more of Ringo`s solo albums, cause i`m sure i`ve missed out on a few really good ones. I`ve only listened to a few of Ringo`s solo albums, so i`m not an expert on Ringo`s solo career. As i`ve said, i love "Liverpool 8" and the song "Never without you" and the "Ringo" album of course. "Goodnight Vienna" is not a bad album either.

      I'm not generally a fan of live albums, but STORYTELLERS is exceptional (I did a video on it).. I agree.

      @yellyman5483 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MeanMr Mayo I love live albums. I like the raw sound on live music, and sometimes the songs sound better live than on record. "Silly love songs" from "Wings over America" is much better live than on record for instans. But anyway. Yes. Ringo`s live album was really great.

    Great video. brilliant ranking. Lots of rare vinyls I would really like to have (driving rain, time takes time, chaos, flaming pie ...)
    What about Vertical Man, I Wanna Be Santa Claus, Ringo Rama, Choose Love and Liverpool 8 by Ringo ?
    And also the unplugged by McCartney (you did rank the Russian album...).
    Cheers mate !

    Wow mate, epic video. I mostly agree with you list but would swap a few things about here and there. I could proably do this but only for John/Paul/George as I only know the one Ringo album, if anything you've inspired me to pick up the reissue of Time Takes Time and give that a try. Take Care.

    It took me three sittings to get through this long video but worth every minute. Well done! It's funny... I always loved FLAMING PIE but I'm suddenly noticing that it's more popular with Beatles fans than I realized.
    Since you are such an Eric Clapton fan, I thought of one more thing. Did you ever hear that song George wrote for Eric called "That Kind Of Woman"? I'm pretty sure it was a JOURNEYMAN outtake. It appeared on the Romanian Angels benefit album along with The Wilbury's version of "Nobody's Child". I don't think it's anywhere near as good as "Run So Far" but still fun for an EC / GH completist.
    One thing I realized while watching this is that I'm not a big fan of covers albums. SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY and KISSES ON THE BOTTOM are rare exceptions, maybe just because they are so well done. John's ROCK 'N' ROLL is OK, I guess, but not something I'd listen to frequently. Ringo's country album is the one Beatles solo album I never really got into at all. I liked the concept but the songs just never stuck in my head.
    Like you, I am a huge fan of all things Jeff Lynne. I wish he would produce one more Paul or Ringo album.

    Great video mate, you must of been absolutely knackered at the end haha!! My top 3 solo albums for now will be, plastic ono (because to do what Lennon done at that time was immense I think) All things must pass (best triple lp ever, and isn't it a pity was left off of revolver!!! Madness!! ) and tug of war (I love this album more than Ram even, the first after Lennons death, I think he done his best lyrics with this album) anyway pal, keep on doing videos!

    cool vid. i want to just correct you on one thing though, "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" was orginaly writtien and performed by Chucl Berry, Buddy Holly sped up the tempo in his cover. it was a classic cover. Its no big surprize that "All Things Must Pass" is number 1. Its was Mean Mr. Mayo's too. this one of the reasons why George always stuck out for me. this what can happen if you have stifled for years when you finaly have the freedom to do what you want, you burst out all over. that's part of what that album was all about.

    Unbelievably awesome list!!
    Was somewhat surprised you didn't include the "Unfinished Music" albums from John & Yoko (ie Two Virgins). Obviously they have been at the absolute bottom of the barrel, but hearing your take/reactions to them would have been entertaining.
    Job well done!

    Jesus Christ.. I would never have the patience to listen through every single solo album from Ringo or George. I have listened to Paul`s albums with the exception from some of the Fireman albums and the classical albums. "Press to play" is a very underrated album. It`s not among his worst. Neither is "Driving rain" I like 50% of that album. The absolute worst albums by Paul is Wings "Wild life" and "McCartney II" "Wild life" is probably among the worst albums ever recorded, and i say that as a Paul guy. I love the man. I have loved him since i was a child, but those two albums are really crap. I agree with your opinion on John`s "Rock and roll album" It`s a piece of shit album, and his version of "Stand by me" is awful. It`s right there with "Wings wild life" on my top album shit list. I love two Ringo`s albums. The first is of course "Ringo" and the second one is "VH1 storytellers" That`s probably the best live album released by any of the former Beatles. I love two of Georges albums too. "All things must pass" which is probably the best post Beatles album made by any of the four.. The other one of George is "Cloud nine" "Brainwashed" is a great album too of course. John`s best albums are of course his first two. It`s hard to pick which one is the best.. Paul`s best albums are "Ram" "McCartney" "Tug of war" "Flaming Pie" "New" "Chaos and creation in the back yard" and "Band on the run" I would put "Tug of war" on my top ten list.. It`s a masterpiece in my opinion. Anyway. Thanks for your video, it was very interesting:)

      Yellyman -- You ought to try more or George and Ringo albums; some of them are better than some of Paul's albums. Yes. As for Lennon's ROCK AND ROLL album, I think it's kind of weak myself, but I much prefer it to Paul's CHOBA.. Oldies LP. I think John's "Stand By Me" is terrific. Also... do you love Ringo's VH1 STORYTELLERS album because it's heavy on The Beatles (and Ringo Hits) ?

    • @yellyman5483
      @yellyman5483 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MeanMr Mayo I like Ringo´s VH1 album cause it`s a good mix of songs, and it`s well played. It has amazing versions of "With a little help from my friends" and "Photograph" for instans, and i love those songs. "With a little help from my friends" is my favorite song on "Sgt. Pepper" It`s not mentioned when people list the Beatles greatest songs, but for me it is really one of their greatest songs, and Ringo was a perfect pick for the lead vocals. I have heard almost every single of Georges albums, but not Ringo`s. I liked "Liverpool8" album and the song "Never without you" which is a great tribute to George. "La de da" is not so bad either, and of course the hits from the 70`s. The "Ringo" album is a very good album, and his version of "You`re sixteen" is even better than the original. "I`m the greatest" is a great Lennon song, "Photograph" is another fabulous song. When it comes to John`s rock and roll album, i can`t stand it. I think i dislike that album as much as you dislike Paul`s russian album. I remember laughing my head off watching your video when you played "Ain`t that a shame" from the Russian album in the background. That`s how i feel when i listen to John`s rock and roll album.. It`s his weakest album in my mind along with "Some time in New York City" I like every other album of his. I think "Walls and bridges" and "Mind games" are much better than people give them credit for. And "Double fantasy" has always been a favorite of mine.

    • @yellyman5483

      MeanMr Mayo And btw. I`m sure many of Georges and Ringo`s albums are much better than trash like "Wild life" and "McCartney II"which are Paul albums i can`t stand. I hate "Wild life" even more than John`s rock album.

    Chaos and Creation is a pretty shit latter day Paul album IMO,and English Tea is one of his WORST songs
