The more I listen to SCPT, the more I realise they are playing a completely different game. Most of their advice simply doesn't fly in my group, which is warlike as all hell. "Negotiate objectives? Come and work for them!" XD
My hot take is this. Just because there are 25 factions, doesn't mean you have to try them all. It's ok if you want to. But if you fins a faction you like, it's ok to stick with that as well.
Pretty interesting. I agree with most of the takes on here. With factions, play what you find fun. Ghosts of Creuss are often considered in the bottom 5 or so, but they win at a very high rate in my friend group. My favorite factions are mostly the "low tier" ones, Arborec, Creuss, Barony. NRA is another favorite, those are considered high tier though. I really do dislike the support for the throne meta, and wish I could change it but it just puts you at such a disadvantage if you don't get a support swap. With trade I generally do x-1 for anyone who will be my immediate neighbor, or x-2 for 4 commodity factions who will not be my neighbor that round. Get creative though, ask for L1's promissory note note for a refresh and wash, you end up getting a CC instead of 1 extra TG. Ask sol for either 2 uses of military support or 1 use and a TG for the wash. I feel like everyone these days just assumes they will have the TG early to fix their start.
I have a very hot TI4 take. I apologize to those who love this faction, buuuuuuuuuuuut... The Yin Brotherhood is the weakest faction in the game. I've played Yin, Arborec, Muaat, Creuss (in some cases multiple times) last year, and finished 2nd or outright won with all of them. But by FAR the hardest of these to pilot were the Yin. At least the Arborec do not need to build a bunch of spacedocks, and can continue to flourish on forward planets. The Yin have so many abilities that encourage you to blow everything up, which only sets one other player, besides you, back. Meanwhile, the other players just shrug and keep chugging along. I would honestly say that Yin was the must frustrating and "always feeling behind" I've felt in a long time, with TI4. Npt saying they weren't fun; just that I PERSONALLY feel like they are the weakest faction in the game.
I’ve been getting a lot of requests for that. Usually I don’t dive too deep into fan content, but I wouldn’t mind doing maybe one video on all of them?
I’d argue against your magic comment, play a fun with fungus saproling deck against a stasis deck, a fight deck, and a control deck and there is just nothing you can do. Your entire deck gets countered passively and you only get interacted with for others to gain advantage.
Yes, when thinking about it back, I meant things around a very similar level being piloted differently (just like how the TI factions would be). There were a couple moments that had to be cut in this one due to audio quality issues. But I forgot in the moment about the exploration decks! I knew it was small, I just wasn’t sure exactly. Thanks for listening!
@@CardboardCrashCourse No, Thank you! for talking about these issues, and addressing them instead of passing them off, you had some really insightful stuff to say.
🔥 Comment more hot takes to be included in Part 2! ⬇️

When are you doing guides for factions in Discordant Stars fan-expansion? Eagerly waiting for those.

The exploration decks are all 20 cards.
