I am absolutely amazed by these boats and captains launching off the beach into the crazy waves, tho I understand it , it is pretty crazy stuff to get out to sea like that. Craziest boating stuff since the last Haulover stuffing I watched, good captains who know the waters well, the changes on earth will certainly keep them on their toes.
Absolutely fascinating!! I really enjoyed your informed commentary, as being a complete novice ( simply an uninformed spectator) I started to appreciated the complexity and skill involved.!!! Some skippers just make it look easy.
Awesome videos. This reminds me a lot of going out of our local Matanzas Inlet. Its the only natural inlet left on the east coast of Fl I believe. Constantly changing, and you have to time the tides and the waves right. Makes me appreciate our boat ramps here!
@mikeemery6741 😂😂😂 exactly what I am talking about.. I was also having my fun with you.. South African Gen X humor.. sorry.. will tone it down for our International Audience
They can carry enormous amounts of weight compared to normal glassfiber hulls.. but no.. it was not very heavily loaded.. It just appears like it.. all ocean-going vessels adhere to Strick SAMSA regulations and Certification.. Something very extensively controlled is the Safety of vessels Surf Launching from the beaches here in iSimangaliso Wetlands Park..
Thinking on a 5.5m v hull rib with 90hp 2-stroke! Thankfully it'll be all peir launches and calm weather until I get experienced enough before challenging any surf! Thanks for the cool video!
Summer Months there is more digging from the ovean side .. so deeper gullies.. less Samdbanks.. sets may be bigger but way more predictable.. and the flow is more from South to North.. rather than suddenly and unpredictable
They sometimes get it right at the right time of the tide.. closer to high and low tide the waves are at their biggest on the bar ... then there is a lal.. when the gaps are long and waves are not so dominant.. but they have to deal what they have in front of them.. it's all about timing
Thanks.. so many people has argued with me at the beginning.. they said you can't count the waves.. we had many hubris abrasive arguments on the channel about counting the sets.. Now days people have windy, wind finder and many other apps that state how many seconds between a set.. makes Launching so much easier with such knowledge
Talk to a surfer man, you can count waves. That's how I found out about it and cross bars here in Aus all the time and always wait a bit and count 1 or 2 sets . But the amount of waves per set and the gap between the sets will be different everywhere, and some breaks are just radical. Your vid reminded me of the Fraser Is fishing comp launching of the beach but on trailer.
Depending on the bar and the depth of water.. well if rythm has worked for you that's great.. but not all skippers has the opportunity to spend so much time in the mid break.. they have to rely on a system where they can count it..
🤫🫣🤣🤣🤣🤣 on a shifting sand bank.. that literally moves as the tide comes in for high tide.. or the tide goes out for kow tide.. esih.. luckily Wiseman is in charge of the Launch Site ... What a relief

which I guestimate by the hight of the T- Top or boat nose.. I may be off by a couple of inches or a foot.. but not often.. I can only say what I see.. to make the channel entertaining.. not supposed to be educational.. Not aiming at your comment.. just using it as a platform to explain to someone who won't have privilage to comment here again.. How things are precieved

Really enjoyed watching this; from Australia; well done -nicely narrated.

That rubber duck looks like a life raft compared to the big cats 😂 but can turn 180 on the spot! Looks very heavily loaded though

Will be a great idea to gather enough experience before moving to anything major that can shutter teeth of severe tongues... 😎

Good morning petrus
Good Morning Bernie
Count the waves in the set and then your right. The waves get bigger at the end of the set and its flat to gun it through.

how many waves in a set? ... been surfing 50 years.. I rely on my eyes not my mathematics
@@garyspeed8961 Each brake is different. 6-8 where i surf.

Where is this? Surf looks amazing, and the locals read the waves like pro
St Lucia Estuary.. iSimangaliso Wetlands Park..South Africa..
They should have jet boats , they can go anywhere, over sand bars , in 2 inches of water, and wave jump
Yes .. but the rand is to weak for South Africans to afford it
Guy at the minute 25 knew his shit, smooth af
He is new in the area.. but extremely qualified for the job
Expected some wavy boats level carnage after seeing the thumbnail. But got treated some pro boaters showing how its done.
