England Rugby World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson has been presented with an MBE by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
The 24-year-old has been a national hero since his last-minute drop goal clinched the World Cup for England, although his MBE was revealed in the 2003 New Year list, months before England's win in Australia.
    SUGGESTED VOICEOVER:
England rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson arrived at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday to receive an MBE from the Queen.
Wilkinson's drop-goal in the dying moments of the Rugby World Cup final, in Sydney, ensured glory for England over arch rivals Australia - although the award was actually revealed in the Queen's New Years honours list months before the tournament.
Wilkinson described it as a great honour.

Question: Can we just see the medal?
"You can, yes. You can indeed. (Shows medal) What this means to me? It's difficult to describe really, because it's not something I ever thought I'd be involved in. It's a massive honour, but it's always come from rugby, and it's an honour for me that I'd like to really bestow on the people who put me here - my family, my friends, people that have spent most of their lives doing things that they should be getting huge credit for, but who will probably never get that. For me, it's about people who have supported me massively, and they know who they are. Thay are so important to me. And I feel that when I go out there and play, it's my duty to pay them back, and this is a huge way of hopefully being able to say that to them now."

It's been an eventful week for Wilkinson, who is getting the sort of publicity associated with England soccer captain David Beckham.
He also was involved in a high-speed car crash on Monday following the day's celebrations, but was not injured.
Wilkinson received his award two weeks after Beckham stood in the same spot to receive the more prestigious OBE.
He said that Beckham, whom he speaks to regularly, hadn't yet offered any advice on how to deal with all the fame and adulation.
    SOUNDBITE: (English)
"No (laughs). I think he lives on a diffent planet from me, fame-wise anyway. I think that what he has had to do with his life, and the way he lives his life is a credit. I think that he's a role model in dealing with severe pressure every day, whereas with myself, I've enjoyed some interesting time with the media. But it's been good fun and I'm just trying to make sure that it's all under control, and I can be me, and that everyone's happy as well."

England rugby coach Clive Woodward is widely expected to receive a knighthood when the Queen's New Year's Honours List is announced later this month.
Captain Martin Johnson is also in line for a possible award.
