It's like Zidane and his incredible volley in the Champions League final in 2002. Giving victory with his "bad" foot. Foolish ! Gorgeous ! Two geniuses !
Did he really have a "weak" foot? Sensational kicking. I don't think there'll ever be this type of kicking prowess again. Look at effort number 7..how absolutely brilliant is that?
He would be the GOAT without years and years of injuries. If there was one game for all the marbles, give me Wilkinson over Carter. One game. All the marbles.
Not many would agree with you on that one, but yes, I’d probably lean that way myself - especially behind that fearsome English pack (or an equivalent Springbok one). DC is custom-made for NZ-style running rugby, but Wilko’s who you need if the game’s tight and you need points to come from seemingly nowhere.
Rob Andrew couldn't tackle like Jonny and didn't pose the same threat running with the ball imho. Ps. Met Rob Andrew and played cricket against him, very nice Guy!
@@uknsaunders Agree. I was really referring to his kicking. Defensively, Jonny was a class above. We do have to remember though that Rob Andrew started off in the amateur era of rugby and therefore very different in psychology. All obviously changed much later!
@@uknsaunders Saw Rob play many times and he would never shy away from the physical stuff. Where he excelled was positional kicking. He was the best I have ever seen.
England have always struggled at no 10 imo ever since Dickie Jeeps. So they are bound to be impressed with Johny.. Not sure he'd have been a 1st choice No 10 for many other top international sides. .
I am a Springbok supporter and in my humble opinion, this was the greatest of them all. And he didnt have it easy. He is a champion!!!
I'm in disbelief that he kicked the winning drop goal on his weaker foot. Unbelievable confidence.
So was the kick at 0:50 …!

This guy was pure Class. From a French.
What a player he was, nobody could defend against that kind of kicking ability.
The only player that would played in all test playing rugby teams-would have loved it to see this genius as a Springbok 10.
Agreed - also a Bok
That 03 final drop goal will be played for the next 100 years.
One of the legends of rugby
I always thought he was right footed but what a legend he could use both. England had to wonderful kickers in football and rugby back then
He was left footed believe it or not!

I don’t think he did have a weak foot. Only a preferred foot
What a player.... unique AF
I'm still amazed at him kicking that RWC winner with his off foot
LEGEND
Little Wallabies? Little Wallabies? Here's Jonny! "The Shining"? No..."The Kicking"!
Ah, ce Sir Wilko, quel homme. 👍
Miss the good old days, especially those spear tackles. And Jonny, and Martin and, and...

It was the whole set up, and the pass under pressure to enable Jonny to drop that goal -- a team play.
King of Rugby 🏉
He loved scoring drop goals.
My Favourite Rugby player ever ❤️❤️❤️
Never really noticed he scored in the final with his weaker foot on the right
2003年の決勝戦はヤバかった
改めて見たけど10mラインからドロップゴールは何度見てても信じられん。
バスケットでセンターラインから3Pシュートを当然のように決めるようなもんやん…
Que jugadorazo por favor 😍
確実に2点、あるいは3点取れるチームの「飛び道具」だった。しかも華のある選手だよなぁ、今見ても。
I WONDER WHAT NUMBER 1 COULD BE
England’s rugby king*
👏👏👏
Before I watch I'm going to place a bet with myself that #1 is the world cup final drop kick
I win

He was good but as in football the modern ball is a lot easier to play with. To me Rob Andrew was Jonny’s equal and in some ways better.
Rob Andrew was not even close.
Well, not a surprise. Both were coached by Dave Alred.
