- This week, I was under a lot of pressure to get this cake finished on time so I decided to get creative! Rather than hand-sculpting Daryl Dixon's face directly on the cake, I attempted the first face-transplant performed in cake 😬 Let me know in the comments how you think I did 💚

Natalie! I’m a cake artist and I actually use the technique all the time.. I actually find it easier than doing it right on the cake. It pops off much easier from the mannequin if you stick the whole thing in the freezer for a bit!
I was thinking the fridge because chocolate tends to crack or become brittle after freezing 😅

Thanks Natalie for your amazing Cake Art! I only discovered you a few days ago, but am already hooked! One question please: what would be your ideas on the least sweet possible modelling chocolate recipe? What could corn sirup be substituted with? Austrian/middle European cakes are much less sweet, and while I am a Cake and (80-100% dark) chokolate fan, I like them even much less sweet than is usual here. As an artist I would love to have a go at modelling chocolate, but would like to make it palable to family and hopefully even myself...

I would love to see you do a buste cake of Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. He has an amazing face!
Years ago, I've had a ball jointed doll custom made, see my profile, and a friend of mine designed it. She is an artist and makes her designs in Blender and prints them in 3D to make the prototypes. She loved designing his face, especially there basically are no older looking resin ball jointed dolls unless it is a minimee of an older actor. A challenge with doll design is the fact that small facial details will get lost in mould making and making resin casts from that. So you shouldn't bother with every little wrinkle, but try to catch the essence of the entire face which she did quite well. :)
