Kyle Troup is such a great addition to the PBA. His personality is really fun to watch and he does a great job getting the audience pumped up! Pick it out!!! The double pick, baybeeeee!!!
The fact that Americans love such an utterly sickly persona says a great deal. Modesty, humility and understatement are possibly concepts immediately forgotten each Sunday as they leave church.
I've had the great pleasure of hanging out & bowling with Kyle. Right after this show he flew to Reno & hung out with a bunch of us for the better part of a week, even changed his plans last-minute to stay longer. He's the real deal, down to earth people person, all around great guy.
I got to bowl with his dad in a 1980 pro/am tournament. His father was one of the nicest pros I bowled with that day. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.
Honestly there are very few sore losers out there. The thing with bowling competitively is it always looks like the person losing is mad or something, when in reality we're just frustrated with ourselves over what is probably a tiny adjustment that we either don't figure out or figure out too late in competition. Everyone I know who bowls competitively might feel like absolutely crap themselves when bowling poorly, but they always love to see others succeed.
@@Ziggopotamus agreed. I have never been a professional bowler, I just bowl leagues, I’d I’m mad it’s at myself for losing focus and not able to adjust on a certain night. It’s never at the other team. And it’s always handshakes and good games afterwards.
I watched this in person, and holy this was the most hype thing ive ever seen, and then to know that belmo did it games later in the title match, that was even more hype, best event ive watched so glad i could do it in person EDIT: Im actually the fan that won the Kris Prather signed bowling ball, was so happy and excited, this week of the pba in WA was the best week of my life
@@Bcheesewithwings Prather's urethane ball had its thumb insert falling out during practice, and he couldn't get it glued back before the matches began. So he had to use his reactive ball on left lane instead. He narrowly got past first match vs. Tom Daugherty but his urethane ball wasn't still ready by then.
That 299 game from the 2020 Tour Finals Quali is now a distant memory. Such a huge fan of Troup. His appearance and personality is a perfect addition for the PBA tour.
I was there!, I was the guy he he high fives after the 4th strike…met him afterwards as well, he was a super cool dude…lives up to the name, bro with the fro!
Kyle Troup has been one of my favorite bowlers ever since I learned about who he is. He has been dominating the lanes not winning one, but TWO PBA playoffs, and he has not slowed down. Great for him on finally getting the massive 300!
Prather was just a good luck charm for his opponents that day - as Belmonte went on to throw a 300 (also against Prather) on TV (#34) after this. Cemented in bar trivia history forever. God bless Kris Prather.
I can't recall his name, but in darts, there's one fellow who has been the opponent in a bunch of nine-dart finishes (probably a more difficult feat than a 300).
Would like to hear the commentating more about lane conditions, the balls they are using, and comparisons in lane patterns or at least talk more about the pattern. The last few years it sounds like a couple of drunk guys sitting at the bar reacting to good or bad shots. You have a pro commentating....but he isn't putting much into it other than yelling into the microphone. I miss watching the 80's and 90's telecasts, where the commentators only got excited for those big shots...and not every single strike or or an 85% spare pickup. Just my .02..but I enjoy when they have one of the tour bowlers talking like Belmonte or Troup analyzing in the match because they bring a subtle professionalism that isn't yelling and making one-liners.
I’ve seen a few of these bowlers using this interesting technique. It obviously works well for them. If I was younger I’d give it a try cause I really can’t bowl the regular way. Great game.
…yeah but where are those trademark short shorts that he and Tom Selleck wore back then 40 years ago??? …and as for the haters of the two handers YOU should talk, that style is what almost every junior player bowls with nowadays, call it “The Belmo Effect”, because most kids bowl this way now, it is mainstream and it’s here to stay, hell even Walter Ray Williams Jr. now bowls two handed
@@RayJacksonbighmw As for the haters of the two-handers, I "DIDN'T TALK", nor should you, smart guy. Where in my comment did I say anything disparaging about "two-handers"? 🤔
I was actually out doing some weekly bowling with some friends and the lane had this running on the TVs, when he got to the 10th everyone kinda just stopped bowling for a minute while we watched. The alley kinda exploded as the final strike hit.

Bob Ross reincarnated as the happy bowler. He went from PBS to the PBA.
Troup throws happy little strikes that give the crowd big smiles.
"Put some happy little 3's in there. Those are 300's kids"
Nice.
Perfect 💯💯💯

11:52 Even though Prather is clearly super frustrated he still cheered on Troup . Respect . Great game
You have to cheer on anyone that can achieve perfection on TV. It is very good for the sport. When it comes to perfect, all you can do is tie or lose.

It would be un-American to not like this guy. He is right up there with apple pie, Mom, and baseball!
Congratulations on your 300 game Kyle🎉🥳
FINALLY ! How many times he ALMOST got it. Awesome
One of my favorite guys to watch bowl, that was like watching physical poetry
awesome bowling! Crazy that a televised 300 is only 10 grand
Trouuuuuuuuuuuup there it is. Congratulations, to Kyle, the 2024 US Open champion.
Congratulations Kyle. Great bowling brother
My girlfriend’s poodle is enthralled with this game and is clearly rooting for Kyle.
Glad to see Bob Ross dominating another passion of his.
15:06 is the moment.
Prather rushing all of his shots after his open was what gave Kyle the ease of mind to do what he needed to do
He could tell Chris beat himself

It was an awesome performance from Kyle Troup in Match 2 of Group 1

I'd much rather be Prather having an off game with a 300 rolled against me than Norm Duke shooting a 289 and losing.

Now Belmo who I like a lot but the boom has to go!
Can someone put this in realtion to e.g. a 9 darter in darts or a homerun in baseball? so how rarely do the pros play a 300 game?
Dom Barrett had the second lowest chance to win and he got 2nd but only to the best of all time
