  • A quick walkaround video of my Freelander 1 TD4 3 Door that I have converted into a bit of a camper/overland/bugout vehicle. This was during a week trip to the Lake District campsite hopping day to day. This Video was shot on day 3 at Ullswater.
The car has a self made removeable drawer system in the rear with a fridge slide I made also. Its running a 50ah leisure battery in the powerbank to power the fridge (which I'm thinking of upgrading) but also has a solar panel that can be plugged in when sun is sufficient to help keep some charge in the battery. This is running off a simply split charge durite VSR 12v 140amp split charge system.
The awning is a 2nd hand one I believe may be an old direct 4x4 model which comes in very handy.
The Roof Top Tent is a Tentbox Classic, as you can see its so simple to set up, keep your bedding inside and within a minute its set up and will only take around 5mins to put back down.
Fridge is a Polarbox 32l and this I believe is just a rebranded version of another that many other outfits stock and supply. It works well!
Any questions don't hesitate to ask if I can be of help I will try!

I had a Freelander just like yours. A great fun car and great to drive. And what a fantastic set up you've got.

Hi Russell they're gel overlays from a guy called Mike Pitt on the Freelanders First Group on Facebook if I remember correctly.

What a great setup you have built there. I also have a 2004 Freelander which i use for work on pipeline construction, It's a great tool. Could you please tell me where you got the slider rails in the back from, or what they are called. I would like to build drawers etc. the same as you have. They would improve storage immensely. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Cheers Ricky, they are just heavy duty locking drawer sliders from Ebay with 2 sets of 2 ally angle but 1 set 10mm smaller in size. Then just a sheet of ply between, screw it down and you've got your slide mate!
