  • In this episode on Charlie Rides MTB, I review the Thule VeloCompact 925 bike carrier...
    The Thule 925 VeloCompact bike carrier is a tow bar mounted bike rack that is used to easily transport bikes around. It holds 2 bikes, but the Thule VeloCompact 927 can be purchased if you want to hold 3 bikes. In this video, I review the Thule Velo Compact 925 bike rack, and show you how to install / remove it on a car. I also show how easy it is to put in storage once it has been folded up.

    Hi Charlie, did you get any side to side swaying of the Thule rack unit when mounted on the ball? I've just installed one, and I dont see a means to prevent the sway. Not sure if it's supposed to allow for that, and whether it presents any problem. Thanks for the review!

    very helpful video. i setup however at the end the tail lights don't work when i switch on the indicators (i.e. for both left and right indicator only the left indicator works). do you think it is a problem with the 7 pin? i have 7 pin in both the car and the 927 model.

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can adjust how tight it clamps on. Also, tow bars are designed to not allow these fittings to move past a certain point

    There is only 19 cm spacing between the bikes on the Thule 925. Competing carriers typically have 25 cm. How does the 925 do when mounting 2 bikes side by side ? Do the bikes touch each other ? Any tricks to stop that happening ?

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have mounted 2 170mm enduro bikes on here, one of the bikes even had a 29er front wheel, and they were fine. Just face them opposite ways and make sure the pedals don’t touch and you’re fine

    Hey! Great review! Do you think its safe for carbon frame? I'll mount road bike and not sure where to clamp it. Downtube seems bigger/stronger than top tube. What would you pick? Top tube or downtube?

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The carbon won’t crack under the pressure of the clamp, so I’d clamp it at the top tube as it will give the bike more stability. The clamps have soft rubber inside so it can’t scratch the carbon either. It’s completely safe for carbon id say!

    • @leslie7922
      @leslie7922 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thule sell a separate carbon bike frame insert, it's like a piece of rubber, they recommend using that to prevent any damage

    Hi! I just bought the same model and it's all tight up but it rattles a bit! From left to right, maybe 1cm up and down... If I tighten it a bit more I can't attach it any more to the car. Is it normal maybe?

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t tighten it so much, do one click at a time until it’s fine

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not normal. By the way, it is quite hard to push down when it’s the right size, do it until it feels like it won’t go on, then push the lever down very hard

    • @ozgalukasz

      If your e-bike is 25kg, then remove the battery and it will be like 21,5 - so no problem to place there two like these. I had same issue with my Haibike ALLMTN 3.5 :)

    • @CharlieRidesMTB
      @CharlieRidesMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a lock that can lock the handle from being lifted so it can’t be taken off of the tow bar. Do you have this exact model?

    • @meenboli
      @meenboli 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CharlieRidesMTB Yes - do.
      I have been in touch with Thule directly.
      Believe it or not, you can actually get an allen key and remove the U shaped bar, and walk away with the bikes.
