- Drift Day 47 - ClubFR - @ USAIR in Shawano, Wisconsin on April 27th. First event of the season. Low 40 degree temps along with 30+ MPH wind and rain didn't stop the gnar from being shredded.

A V8 sounds so good in that 350Z! Thats one import that seems like it should have had a V8 to begin with. The VQ35 is a beautiful engine, but theres not much room for hp in NA form since its so highly tuned from Nissan (like the S2000).

Hey Eletor, I just had one quick question: how do you go about finding your music for these awesome videos? I understand that you know SmitchL and promote his music in your works, but how do you come about songs like Hello Sinner by Boogie Belgique and Simply Closer by CruciA? I ask because every song I hear in your videos I fall in love with! Keep up the great work!
Hey Flasterist, that's a good question. I've really had to work to find music lately. I partnered with GTChannel a few months back and that's meant that I need to use music with no copyright. I spend days and days searching everywhere on the Internet. It's really difficult. I have had the best luck on soundcloud though. I'm really glad you like the music I've found so far, I'll try to keep making better and better videos to keep you hyped. Thanks for the support!
eletor I appreciate the reply man. I'll be sure to check out Soundcloud in search for some more chill hip-hop beats. After watching a few of your drifting videos I've noticed how some (but not all) of the drift cars have different color front rims than back rims. I don't know much about drifting and how the front wheels are different than the back ones, but I've seen how the color's different on quite a few of them. Could you possibly elaborate?
Yeah, a lot of times you will notice different wheels front to back. Most of the time it's because people are burning off the back tires and changing them out for a different set that's mounted on "drift spares". A lot of guys show up with their nice set of wheels (all 4) and change them out later in the day. With the high price that some people pay for flashy wheels, not everyone can afford 6-8 of the same wheel.
One other reason, not as common, is for different tire types. A few guys like to run very sticky (R compound) tires up front that are cheaper in small sizes. I have a buddy that runs a 15x7 wheel up front with these, and a 17x10 in the rear. He's the guy with the bass boat style 240sx in a bunch of my videos.
One last reason is to have more steering clearance in the front with a much narrower wheel.
All of these reasons really boil down to one thing though, and that is cost. It's just more cost effective and helps you get out on the track to have a good time.
eletor Dude, hell yeah. Thanks a lot for the info. I'm not going to lie, I actually have a few more questions haha I just don't want to annoy you with all of them. The question that's on my mind at the moment has to do with how some of the cars' back wheels will lock up momentarily during the apex of the drift, and then continue to rotate again. I'm curious as to how it's done, and what - if any - benefit it brings?
Flasterist You're not annoying me with questions, I'm happy to answer anything I can. That momentary lock up you are seeing is either a standard or hydro e-brake. Pulling up on the e-brake during a drift helps for a bunch of reasons, but mainly it can extend the length of the slide without gaining more speed into the corner. It also works well to enter a drift on a low power car. Cars with high power can initiate the slide easily buy overpowering the tires, the e-brake technique uses the cars inertia. Using the e-brake is more common on technical tracks as apposed to high speed ones.
