Thanks for the Inktense tutorial. I love that the bottom layer doesn’t reactivate. So much easier to paint with. Please make more Inktense videos. I also love your botanical videos. They are something to strive for. ❤️👩🏻🎨
Thank you Susan. I have a full Inktense playlist here plus a brand new Inktense tutorial launching soon th-cam.com/play/PLs4H0qOC8epWr8qXUhRTw0-fTdV6ifmKJ.html&si=QV3bV73_2MJ3emUJ
I am SO going to paint this! I am one of those who loves using Inktense and I vote for your making more of these types of videos that use it either by iteself or along with watercolor. The Amaryllis is just beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you so much Sheila. I was contemplating doing more of these so thank you for letting me know. I really enjoyed painting this so much. Once again. Thank you X
@@raecampbellsstudio If it weren't for you, my Inktense would stil probably be unused. I saw a video you did last year that inspired me to pull them out (I had barely used them) and helped me understand just how wonderful they are. I use both the blocks and the pencils (I have both full sets) and find they are a wonderful addition my art. Sometimes even small applications such as the one you demonstrated here, opens us up for so many other uses for them. I feel they are misunderstanded as a supply in general and it is great to see them applied to softer, gentler art without looking garish. Thanks again.💜
@SheilaLandry that’s really wonderful to hear Sheila. I love it that you are able to utilise the supplies that you have, inktense is such a fantastic medium and very very versatile, and as you know, can’t help build a watercolour a really intense shade. I also have the blocks, but I actually prefer the pencils. I just find them a little bit easier to use. Once again, thank you so much for your positive feedback. X
You are truly a gem! I’ve been bing watching your videos since I discovered your channel just recently. I felt I needed to tell you what an inspiration you are, as an artist and as a beautiful soul. I feel so blessed to have found your channel. Hugs from a colour loving(obsessed )artist in Australia 🇦🇺
WOW, what a FANTASTIC idea!!! The end result is GORGEOUS!!! Thank-you so much for sharing this with us!! 😉👍✨😍😍😍❤❤❤🤗🤗👏👏🐝 P.S. THAT GOLD THOUGH!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Hi Rae, this tutorial is absolutely wonderful, I love the mixed media technique. Very versatile, especially on cold pressed and the rough surface papers. Can't wait to see more of these mixed media painting videos Many thanks Rae ❤
This will be lovely to paint, seeing that I've recently painted my own Pink Amaryllis! I too love combining Watercolour with Inktense - however I don't have the Pencils yet, but I sometimes add depth using my Inktense Pan Paints. Mixed Media is awesome. Thank you Rae! xx💟🤗💖
Thank you very much Terry. I love your work and I’m looking forward to seeing how are you create this one. Any mixed media is fine so just go for it LOL x
@@raecampbellsstudio That's extremely kind of you, many thanks Rae!! 💖🥰Can't wait to start this now - it'll be fun to combine my paints again & see how it turns out!! xx
Rae, I know you said that you didn't care for the blocks of Inktense. I have seen some swatching videos, and I realize there is such a difference! I like the pencils much better as well. However, if you haven't tried the pan paints, you are missing out. They are really nice!
My favorite way of using inktense; as an underpainting with watercolor. Lightfast doesnt matter when done tone on tone worst it can do is dryback to white wich doesnt matter if grisaille is used for an underpainting; the underpainting does not have to be grey; it can be each color you want as long as it is used for values. for bright white my favorite mixed media medium is bleedproof white; that little jar wil go a long way. So I would advise to seal the top of with press and seal befor screwing the lid back on. I dont like masking fluid and it is not much needed in mixed media as a regular watercolor. If you dont want bleedproof white you can use inktense white;block or pencil. Both will do the same just make sure the previous layer is bone dry.
I actually have an Inktense tutorial coming out on the 30th of January, so keep an eye eye out for that and I’ll definitely be doing more in 2024, in the meantime here’s a playlist of intense tutorials th-cam.com/play/PLs4H0qOC8epWr8qXUhRTw0-fTdV6ifmKJ.html&si=RwHSzqKSgKCmjI7w
PS Paperwise i prefer coldpress arches or coldpress fabriano artistico as one is a bit heavy handed. Difference; think warm and cold; when you are cold you get goosebumbs; that is the texture from coldpress. Hotpress is opposite; thus smooth. I dont like that as it is smudging to easily for my liking. So if you struggle paperwise try if same brand you use has a different surface; more often then not it is a paper issue. I can paint on anything if I must but it is personal preference. If you are on a budget; canson mi teintes will do as as well but it needs a Good tape down due to worping; canson xl is fun for cards and swatching but beginners note; learn on more expensive paper; that way you will learn color theory on right paper; after you master this you can always scale up or down. Its easier that way than to start with cheap paper; paper matters as it will prevent art blocks like mine.
Thank you. I guess we all have our own preferences and this is one of mine and it’s one I like to use in my tutorials because I like the texture. Like I said it’s personal preference and everybody can use what they want to use.
Hi there! It’s really interesting using Inktense with watercolour. I love the rough paper you used. Do you think a rough surface like this is better to apply watercolour and inktense in general? I want to purchase this type of paper and I was wondering if it’s a good idea to use it for my watercolour inktense projects.
Hi Anne. I put all the materials in the description box that I use along with links, and I do mention it at the end of the video when I use it it’s from etcher and it’s from the metallic gold set.

Thank you Kathleen. Glad you like it
What a beautiful subject and a fabulous painting. Thank you Helen for another wonderful tutorial. - Dawn 🌅
Hi Dawn. Thank you. It’s a fun one to paint. What I call a ‘no pressure’ painting x
I love how you use a damp brush to spread the paint in each layer.
Thank you 😀
Love it! Thanks so much for new inspiration every week 😃

Thank you. I do find them a little bit ‘chalky’ but perhaps that’s just me x
I know you have said that the blocks are chalky. Have you tried the pans?
@@VickiWalton no. I assumed they were one of the same. Do they perform differently?

What is the name of the glittery paint you used near the end of the video. Thank you so much
