Excellent demo sir! I like how minimal that is. I like the kiss method.

It's definitely another tool for the box. Thanks for watching Dano!! 🤙

I can see how this would be secure if under tension and if the figure 8 is firmly seated against the trunk. I just wonder what would happen if the line went slack, and the loop going around the small end were to slip off. I suppose that might be an advantage if you want to avoid climbing back up to retrieve, but then you 'd have to search for your figure 8 in the dirt below.

It's not my favorite redirect, to be honest. It is a neat trick to have in some situations. It's definitely not coming undone, in my opinion. I have a new video coming out on Sunday with another retrievable redirect, which is better. Then I thought of a better one which will be out the following sunday 😆. Thanks for watching, brotha🤙 be safe!

Nifty technique, but are there any advantages over a more straightforward technique like sling/biner with a munter?

The only real advantage is just being able to do it with a figure 8. Also, it's more of a static redirect, so it won't share the load like a munter would. It's like if the primary tie-in is on a sharp angle from the redirect and you don't want the added leverage on it. I will cover more redirects soon, including carabiner and sling ones. It's another tool for the box for sure. Thanks for watching. Be safe, brotha 🤙

As a beginner I know redirects are a weakness for me. I recently bought a number of Dyneema loops so I don't have an excuse to do some of things that I have done in recent past. Things I'm not proud of! So I need to work on my minimum gear that goes on every climb.

I've done some things in the past I learned from as well 😆. I will have some upcoming videos of different redirects using webbing slings and caribiners. You can use those dyneema loops for these redirects. Thanks for watching 🤙
