Thanks for sharing your experiences, all too familiar. Thinking about this same model to replace one that's been mediocre to bad from the get go, one that was supposed to be a "decent brand" too. How big is the room where your 18000 BTU is in? The dust filter cleaning sounds very annoying, then again if it can keep the room clean it might be worth it. Is there a monitor that shows the dust level? As it's supposed to clean out dust including pm 1.0 which seems like a tall order. I still wonder how that's achieved as it would eliminate the need for an expensive air purifier and its filters. Wonder how this can be replaced by using traditional a/c cleaning.

    • @HowardPosener

Yes you get a reminder on the phone to clean it and on the unit itself ..my unit is fine for a 45 Sq meter room I have 2.

PM 1.0 version has bulkier top and 2 stages filter. The mesh pre filter at top and steel one with static charge as the PM 1.0 filter. You can wash the steel one with water, wipe it dry and then put it back on your unit.

I bought two Samsungs, 2 years apart in Thailand. It was the seer rating of 18 that sold it for me, what with a good price and excellent warantee on the compressor of 10 years and 5 years for the internal wall unit. First one doesn't have all those holes and a metal box for the compressor unit. Newer one has all those holes but the compressor box is made out of plastic which is a bit disappointing; hopefully it will last 10 years. Installed them both myself; easy to install; hardest bit probably drilling the hole in the wall and making the pipe connector flared fittings. Also interesting is Samsung has been making air conditioners a long time so they know what they are doing. Only issue I had with the first one is the led on the remote was not sticking out enough and you would press buttons on the remote and the conditioner would not receive the command. Got the soldering iron out and fixed that issue so all good now. Buying it on Lazada is very cheap and it turns up in a couple of days!

All these inverter air cons are the same. R32 is in the compressor. You make up the pipes, pressure test to about 180 on the guages, make sure no leaks, then evacuate all air, make it does not leak, then open the valves to release R32 into the system and run the setup program. Easy. You can also run a program to pull the R32 back into the compressor, close off the valves, and decommision, move it, re evacuate it, etc. btw i am just a diyer! Worth having all the equipment such as guages as you can use for your car, etc.

The manuel is very basic and I had to work out things myself, finding some info on the Samsung website also. For me is the heating the most important reason. I have it installed on AI through the app and on AUTO. I just adjust the temp. at night 19 degrees or when I'm away. When I'm at home 23 degrees. Do you know what's the cheapest way is : auto or heat ? When it s on heat you also have the possibility to put it on ECO.

Hi, I just ran across your video the same reason maryanne2002 did (CF) as I can not find the manual that came with it (house construction mayhem). Funny that i can NOT install the Samsung app on my phone. I get red warning that my device is not compatible with this version. My phone is Samsung AO3 so Dah! I also live in Northern Thailand in the foot hills north Chiang Mai and heat is in the 40's, so much smoke, maybe why the CF notice came on on the aircon!
Only been using for about two months heavily. We were able to move in to It our new house in mid November but didn't need aircon much at all until mid February so hopefully will have service life. I agree, it is oh so quiet and much much more efficient than our previous apartment aircon. Even the compressor unit is on the balcony of our bedroom and you can barely hear that when is in full throttle!
Leaking ? The compressor sheds off water it has sucked out of your house via duct on the bottom, so you will get water. Run a Pvc pipe to direct it where you need. We put ours through a water vent on the balcony deck to the roof of our carport where is flows into the garden. This stopped the dripping on the downstairs patio. It is amazing how much water it draws out. Anyway I am thoroughly happy with it, more so if I could get the app. 😀😀

I've tried when I did my research it wasn't available in most countries... I can't remember, but one country did sell them but only with the air conditioner.

That's a bit unfair as the buying process is equally important and the options are numerous..but thanks for watching

I loved the actual review! But yes, chapter options would be really great especially for tech reviews like this, as some people either wanna get straight to certain details or have a really short attention span

Howard Howarsd Howard,,,you forgot to mention, right? Loud and noisy compressor, cooling effect not existent if outside over 30 grad., because of nonstop inverter switch off aircon..so the hot air can fill your room and the best...you have to live with error codes of different kind ..cute, right?..my advice: never think about buying a inverter aircon if you like a cool room, it will not work. inverter aircons are not made to save money if running over a longer period 24/7 for example, they even use more kw's as non-inverters...and just in case you have close neighbors.....the will complain! noise from the compressor squeaking in all pitches, it often sounds like an airplane engine...what good does it do if Samsung technicians say it is normal forgot almost the aged remote....you see nothing on this dinosaur remote. old 20 years + remotes will work on your new one......Last hint: This Korean manufacturer thought it was not necessary to make its aircons work in the voltage range of 200 to 240 volts, which would be a small thing technically...if you live in Asia, the voltage fluctuates more often than not...with the result that it no longer works, error codes, the entire system simply switches off. And if the Samsung technicians come, this is the first thing they do...let the compressor run at full speed and say there is not enough current or voltage. Standard excuse...especially if you only have a 2-pole power supply...then nothing works...
