Heian Godan - when you jump and cross your fists, as you land your fists should touch the ground as you are meant to be trapping the hilt of a sword down to the ground.

Such memories. I won a tournament with Heian Godan a long time ago. It's still, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful "hard style" kata ever devised. That and Naihanchi Shodan were the only two forms I would do because they were just so elegant but brutal at the same time. I also remember a skeptic coming into the dojo while we were practicing Heian Nidan and laughing at us, telling us that the elbow block and backfist at 1:21 was an impractical combination in a real fight. He asked the guy to punch him, blocked it with the elbow and hit him with the backfist, putting him to sleep. He came back a few days later and signed up for classes. lol. Those years at that old run down dojo were some of the best of my life.

that's why some boxers laughing the karatekas because their belts are made of moneys but boxers earn more money in fighting and they are confident in their hard trainings because they're already strong even in 6 months practicing

One of the most fluid and beautiful styles.
My first Dan was from this style.

Unfortunately I have to criticize you. You do not close and open your hips. No focal point, no rhythm, no Kime. Shaking your knees while doing the Kiba Dachi. I don't know what black belt you have, but that's 1st Kyu, 1st Dan level. you have potential Which Shotokan Karate Senzei did you learn from? Do not be angry. I learned under the old karate masters of the JKA.

My dad is a black belt in 3 martial arts my cousins my uncles is also
So they have like a session where they teach Karate in that 1 School
And so I joined too they offer me to take compettions but I dont do in 4 yrs i didnt get rank up but I was a kid that time i only think playing outside and not valuing martial arts

I made shodan almost 20 years ago and quit when I joined the military. I still talked to my old sensei pretty regularly but he died last year. Been doing boxing tournaments lately for fun and I found this because I couldn't for the life of me remember Heian Godan. Been doing kata again as a form of meditation almost. Thanks man

JKA Shotokan technique/style
This sport looks good on camera but totally utterly useless in Street Fight or to even defend especially if the opponent knows other sports e.g Boxing, Wrestling

I studied Okinawan Kenpo Kobudo and Tang Soo Do Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, both over thirty years ago. The only Dojo close to me that seems to have a legit program is a Shotokan studio. The 5 kata in the video are virtually the same as Kata and Hyungs I learned in Kenpo and Tang Soo Do. I think I am going to empty my cup and put on my white belt and begin the journey again with Shotokan. Great video Sensei!

Thank you for watching and using my video as a training resource. Yes, these days it costs a lot to do just about anything. However, if you do ever get the chance to train at a real karate club the investment is worth it, especially if you've found a genuine qualified instructor.

Trying to remember all the phrases is hard. My wonderful Sensei always spoke Japanese to us, and made us speak it too upon our testing. but I've forgotten it all now sadly. But i can do my kata in my sleep after tons of years 😂. Muscle memory is amazing gift from God 😅

I was studying Kung Fu and I had never heard of Shotokan Karate although I may have had seen it and didn't recognize it. I went to a Shotokan dojo. I practiced with the master, he saw I knew my Kung Fu. After learning the basics of Shotokan I was afraid to use that style of fighting. I felt too planted and too restricted.
