    Scott, you know what I like? You go into more depth about little things that I was asking that weren't even part of the presentation! Like adjusting the silent audio from the video "advanced audio properties". Very nice!

    All jokes aside, I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. The scroll function in obs is very limiting. Great tutorial sir.👏
    I don't do anything in the way of lyrics, but this will go great with book narration. 👍

    Great tip. I use Apple Keynote and the OBS Window Source for this purpose. The great thing about the Keynote method is that you can avoid using the presentation mode AND EVEN AVOID having to show the app full screen by resizing the apps window to the desktop's full vertical boundaries and shove the app offscreen to the right showing only the left thumbnail panel of your Keynote for selecting your slides.(of course if you have multiple monitors, then screen real estate isn't necessarily and issue.) These thumbnails only get so large due to the limit of the panel size, but if you add a crop to the Window Source in OBS you can use the cropped out portion of your slide to add text to show it's title/content in a much larger font.
    After that, I set the background to magenta, key that out in OBS, apply an OBS Slide or Swipe transition in and out to the Window Source, and you got yourself a pretty nifty LIVE EDITABLE Character Generator.

    I use Google Slides and OBS for our ministry's livestream in a " similar" sort of way. It's not lyrics though. I setup Advanced Scene Switcher to switch to the appropriate scene depending on the Windows "window" I'm on. And for the two different Google Slides presentation that I do, I simply do the presentations at fullscreen and with one I do it at both full screen and in presenter view. Then in order to navigate when on these full screen windows, I simply press Alt+Tab and generally the last window is OBS anyways.

      Yes, this is an excellent way to approach this. It's more simple. I've tried it.

    Hi Scott, loving the videos and I'm learning so much about OBS. I especially like the keys shown in your video (e.g. when you press Ctrl +Shift+F5 @9m50secs). How do you show the keystrokes in your videos? Is there a Plugin or a particular piece of software to perform this?

    Hi Scott. Thanks for the video. I am a South African musician that can't change slides while I perform worship or covers, but I would still like to have the lyrics up on the screen for my viewers. I followed along with your video until I tried adding the Window Capture and can't see my Google slides window in the drop down when adding source. Is there a way I could just use static lyrics in Slides/Powerpoint and that way add all my songs in to one PP presentation and just change as the songs change (like a setlist)? Hope this made sense... Thanks for your amazing videos! I binge you all the time and learn so much!

    • @ScottFichter
      @ScottFichter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Chaz! The answer is YES and you question does make sense. I need clarity on one point. You mentioned that you wish to see the lyrics change as the song changes. How many lyrics are being shown on the screen at any give moment?. Are you looking to show all the lyrics, or just a few lines at a time. What comes to mind is that when you begin to play your music the lyrics change based upon TIME. Can you also reply and tell me why you "can't" currently change the slides? Is it because you playing the music ? I imagine that the issue at hand is that you can't worry about advancing the next set of lyrics because you actually playing the music is that the problem?

    • @chaznielsen86
      @chaznielsen86 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @@ScottFichter! Firstly thank you for your swift response! And YES, Spot On - I have managed to add the ChromaKey Browser source filter and can import the lyrics via Google Slides to display on screen (Although I have to make sure I mute the slides source when making changes and leave the Browser window in a fixed position otherwise the crop displays other things on OBS). Using Amazing Grace as an example, I had to try fit all the song lyrics on each slide, because then I can change the slide for the next song, but I would have preferred to set some kind of timer to only display one verse/chorus at a time, that will automatically change as I keep playing the song (I understand that this might involve some practice to perfect of course), but it should provide a better viewer experience, than having the whole song crammed over the screen and my camera. I assume this has to be done within Google Slides to control the tempo? And finally, is there no way to use O365 powerpoint as a window capture and have OBS pull a local file as a source and update by clicking SAVE, or does it HAVE to be an online doc that keeps refreshing itself? Sorry for the long reply, but I am so grateful for any assistance from a legend like you!

    Hello Scott. Can you use google slide to go back to certain slide or go out of order? Sometimes we may skip around to different verses in our services. If so, how can we do it? Thanks

    • @ScottFichter
      @ScottFichter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can do that but you'll need to have Google slides open on a monitor so you can click the one you want to see.

    Scott have you tried PPT NDI?
    I use it in conjunction with OBS, no need to green screen since it by default will create transparency on the PPT and send the slides over NDI. Transition was added but it's wonky at best, I only use it for static text.

    Really nice video, I feel like I learned while watching all the techniques you applied. :) I probably won't use this actual technique though because I don't want to have to have a browser window open that I'm screen capturing from. I think I'll just create a video in FCP with text and play that video in OBS. (I wish there were some OBS built-in tool or plugin to show a sequence of text with custom timing between each!)

    • @ScottFichter
      @ScottFichter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hotkeys only control stuff within OBS. The text is within Google slides. You'd have to make the slides within OBS to make that happen. so what you ask it is absolutely possible.
