An idea for your future videos would be to rate the sheath. How easy is it to carry, withdraw the knife. Most of my time with a knife it's not in my hand. How easy is it get take out the sheath. Can you do it one hand. Something like a combat knife I would think you would want to deploy it one hand.
Such an enjoyable video as always. Also, keep in mind that the whole saying is "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."
I love my Tops knives, but you guys have got to put better sheaths on them. I like that you have started sending smaller knives, like my Dawn Warrior, in kydex. But the ballistic nylon garbage on the larger knives, like my Longhorn Bowie, has got to go. The Longhorn would have been an excellent candidate for classy leather. Instead you sent it in something that looked like it was made by a 12 year old in a sweatshop. And I had to pay $80 on custom kydex.
DBK i love you and watch you since 1st video, too bad im too poor to do patreon. Keep it up my lovely brothers. Greetings from Poland. You always bring smile to me in these harsh times
They run the edge at 56-58 that isn't a perfect heat treatment it's a soft but tough one which is reasonable to some degree but you can get higher hardness and toughness with proper geometry
Another great video, Thursday has become my favorite day of the week!! I'm a Retired U.S. Marine, myself and I loved seeing this new combat knife by a Marine and Top's Knives. I would ABSOLUTELY like to see the USMC, 3S Bayonet, by OKC. It's what a Marine goes to Combat with now, and it would be amazing to see it put to the test !!!
DBK you guys are so entertaining to watch, I appreciate that you would deliberately leave in bloopers and not edit them out to try an be perfect. It makes you human and a lot more entertaining to watch. Julle is wonderlik!
This surprised me. It’s a hell of a hard use knife. Purpose built and heat treated damn good. You guys do the best videos. Every Thursday is a good one when you guys upload. Thanks for the amazing content guys!
@@DiabloOutdoors it sure did fold like aluminum now that you said this. Haha! Damn man even the DBK guys are doing the slick moves. We need cast iron pan cuts from today on! Haha!👊
Tops differentiate their heat treat so a sharp spine would not hold up. Check out the Prather war Bowie you will love that to. It is my favorite fixed blade that I own
I have one of the original Tops BOB knives and I took a Dremel to the coating on the spine and removed it. Now it throws sparks like a giant sparkler. As long as I clean it up whenever i get back home and give it a decent coating of oil, it doesn't rust.
The quality of this knife made me remember a time back when the USA manufactured ( Not assembled ) all of their products at home & were well respected around the world for their renowned quality & craftsmanship. We ( USA ) used to create things with such true passion & real skill that every single product we crafted, be it cars to knives to electronics, was expected to be of high quality without question or concern; Everything we crafted when touched, let the consumer know that the person who made this genuinely cared about their craft. I hate seeing the current state of top dollar manufacturing / craftsmanship in the USA but am excited for the future due to the passion that is being revived & found in the small / local independent businesses that are being created, Thanks DBK!
Love Tops, lucky enough to own a bunch. They do have a good few knives made more for bushcraft than survival or military use etc. I'd love to see you review the Brakimo, great knife that I personally love from them. Or the SXB...just for fun because its such a monster survival tool 😁
A long time ago, I sharpened my brothers Tops knife and came to the same conclusion...they make an excellent....excellent 1095 steel ...and heat treatment.
I consider Top Knives one of best three american factory fixed knife brand followed by Esse and Buck.Lately I've got a clue for the its success. From Idaho, they made a knife that joints the excellence and the american business way with a latin touch of what is a knife from the mind of its founder-president Leo Espinoza.

Iw as working with this guy named Laci on a military contract. We're shooting the shit, really nice guy. Get to talking knives. He tells me he's a knife designer and he'll send me one. Turns out he sent me this exact knife and he was Laci Szabo
I have one of the earlier versions of this knife and minus some tip damage from it falling off my porch and hitting the concrete it is a very durable knife.
Love your videos, this is my first time commenting on any video. I’m also learning as well about bush crafting to do some back country motorcycle camping in Canada. Looking for a great starter knife, thx for all the reviews. Very enjoyable and informative channel.
Well actually the most important part of the saying "Jack of all trades is master of none..." is the last last part "... but oftentimes better than a master of one".
Okcs3 bayonet is great knife I’ve swore for years if I could only have one knife that would be it I’ve put it through miles of wood for fire making. This knife is so similar but without serrations I like the serrations on large knives. Great video thanks
I just purchased the very same knife and I'm loving it. I was looking for a tough knife that could take the place of my broke machete and I have found it. Great video guys.
I was watching this video when a few friends of my wife stopped by and they watched it with me. Well, they are not to much into camping or bushcraft or things like that and I ended up answering questions about knives and the tests you do listening to them say " no one is going to be chopping a frying pan in camp or doing this and that, so I explained that you do this to find the limits of a knife, what it can or can't do and how it performs at whatever task you set before the knife, they asked why and I told them so you would know what was possible to do with the knife and if you can depend on the knife if you were in a survival situation, life or death situations are not a joke and you want the best tools you can get to be there for you. They wanted to know more so I told them to subscribe to your channel and a few bushcraft channels and they can learn a lot about knives from you. I think that they are interested in bushcraft and camping and such and you are going to have a few more subs, thanks again for what you guys do and keep them coming and I'll keep watching
5:24 Really impressed you eventually locked it to land on the Tip. Got me interested in this - will consider for any replacement for my BK-7. Take it easy Gentlemen with best wishes from Western Scotland. Cheers
Will have to look into it. It has decent lines. I’m still waiting on my Chris Reeves Pacific plain edge. Wilson Combat/Wilson Tactical used to make a number of great combat blades with nice lines, but sadly they no longer make those models.
Now thats what the USMC should be. Full tang and as tough as a 50 gallon metal drums. I'm glad you made a new baton Maarten cause I noticed how beat up the one in the beginning was lol 😂😂
Try the Moccasin Ranger, thicker stock, a little longer, better penetrating design. Still 101% US made from TOPs. As a combat veteran, with eleven deployments, the Moc is the best go to war knife I have ever handled.
Im also glad you guys finally had this knife to appear on your channel for hard testing, i had no doubts thst this knife would pass the baseball bat test and the frying pan cutting test, truly remarkable when you do a grest blade with a great heat trest.
Re: your comment about "No one should care about stabbing." Probably not in the woods in civilian life, but this knife is, first and foremost, a weapon, to be used as such. In the sentry neutralization role, the most effective way to "neutralize" an enemy is to stab them. However, other than ease of manufacture, there is no reason for leaving the hilt as it is. A simple heat and twist, so that the hand guard is at right angles to the blade and tang, would address the problem.
Awesome. Great test. TOPS knives deserve their great reputation and price. Better than balls Have you guys heard of white river knives? Their stuff looks pretty crazy
Looks like the finger choyle (however it is spelled) could be a fire scraper....I'd have to see it in person but it looks pretty squared off on the edge.
Great video lads. I think I have a contender for this knife, the Tops Apache Dawn or its smaller brother the Air Wolfe, both we’re designed for the military. maybe you guys could test them both to see which one is better.
America used to be the best in the world at making things of high quality. The last generation began outsourcing manufacturing to save money and that largely stopped. But in the last decade it's been seeing a return as people realize what we lost. And things like this knife are an example. We will return to world stage as a manufacturer of high quality items.

We'll be in Indianapolis at the NRA show the 14th through 16th. Come take a look
