Hi again, Hylton. I wish you a HNY once more. I caught your cameo/guest appearance on OODave's channel. You two make an impressive duo! Great to see your "37 problem" (something you also share with OOD) is developing obsessively. As you know, mine is a long-standing affair that has got worse during 2024: I currently have 20, plus one in pieces... My 37401 is in BR Large Logo livery and carries the name "Mary Queen of Scots", which would be a great fit for your layout. You've made a big contribution to the hobby since deciding to share your passion by making YT videos. The beauty of YT is that it allows everyone from everywhere to participate at whatever level they choose. I really enjoy your content. I love your honesty, the way in which you share your skills, expertise, experiences, and how you express your joy for the hobby. Your plans for 2025 are great. I look forward to being part of them. Just two words of caution: do whatever you need to do in order to avoid burnout, and ignore those who would rob you of the aforementioned passion & joy. Stay in touch, mon ami.
hi Hylton i am also coming back to the hobby after several decades ! the joy of youtube is that it feels like you are just down the road not 1000s of mikes away - enjoy your videos you always say you you don't know what you're doing but i would be very happy to achieve what you have - best wishes to you and yours for 2025 from Cornwall - planning both tt120 and OO tracks !
Hello Paul, isn’t that just the truth, it does make it feel a lot less distant and I’m so grateful to be able to enjoy other peoples builds as well as my own. Thank you for your very kind words, I can promise you I still have no bloody clue what I’m doing 😂 good luck with your builds, some great challenges ahead. All the best this year. Hylt
Great update. The layout is really coming on. 37409 in Scotrail isn't technically prototypical from the perspective that the only one so painted is the one recently as they never got the livery in real life unfortunately. That being said it looks superb! The only company to have made them are Rainbow Railways as a commission. Drop them a message and I bet they'd be able to make up a new batch as they were popular. Best getting the tanks ASAP as they are already rare and I don't think they'll be made for some time. The WCRC Mk1's look great - I quite fancy a rake myself but reckon I'll stick with the Mk2's I have from Accurascale coming. The current Accurascale 66's in GBRF don't include a WHL RETB equipped one. I've been pushing for this to come alongside the next Mk5 issue as they also run with a 73/9 on that so probably worth holding out. I believe they are waiting to see where the ex-TPE Mk5a's go as they want to do the run in a oner with the sleeper rake. I've also suggested that they also look to do a 2 2 coach add on pack with all the destinations to allow for various rakes rather than loads of specific ones e.g. one club car and one seated and then a couple of sleeper coaches in another pack as you should be able to form almost all the rakes from just 2 SKU's.
Thanks mate, I can’t believe it never ran in those colours, they’re just so beautiful. I’ll take it as a once off though, it’s certainly striking, and would make for a fun once off on the line. On the note of rolling stock, you’re absolutely right, I see rainbow still have some in stock and I’ll be hopefully grabbing them end of Jan! 👌 here’s hoping they’re all in stock by then! I missed the boat on the mk2s, so will settle for the bachmann ones. I need to look into the RETB kit, was it a noticeable thing on the 66s? Forgive my ignorance. I realized after being in Scotland that my freightliner version isn’t quite suited to the layout plans 😂 and fingers crossed on the Caley’s! I would love a good set. But not for £400 on eBay! 😂 have an amazing new year and as always, appreciate your knowledge and insights
I just got the Hornby K1 Loco for Christmas cause I told my husband I want to build a layout. I have never done it before and want to build some of my favorite Scotland locations for my Jacobite steam train to ride through, even though it doesn’t go there IRL. Your channel is helping me immensely!
Class 37’s were made for large logo blue. I’m a bit like you. I have six 37’s. Two each of green with SYP, large logo blue and EWS. By far the best looking are the large logo blue. They look great hauling my rake of six West Highland green and cream coaches. Keep up the good work and all the best for 2025.
Hello Stephen, large logo just pops on them don’t they? You’ve got quite the collection coming along. Indeed I have a rake of those too and they’re magnificent behind a 37. Thanks for sharing some of your fleet!
Great Video Mate, starting to become a fan of the channel now. For Christmas, I got a Midland Mainline 170, DCR Class 56, FGE Class 57 and a Pannier Tank
Ive just received my first 37… which may be the start of an obsession 😅 37513 in loadhall livery. I’ve got plenty of steam at the moment so why not! Great video
Super video enjoyed watching. Nice to see your layout making good progress. I am thinking of getting a class 37 at some point. I'm more into my local area in the South West of England. The changeover from steam to diesel is a great area to cover. It allows the best of both worlds. Best wishes for 2025. Cheers Paul.
Cheers Paul. Thank you for popping in as always mate. I think you should too, but be careful… slippery slope! 😂 thanks for sharing your thoughts, and of course supporting the channel.
Oooh! As a student in 1982 I spent a night on Upper Tyndrum. Everything was closed and locked. I've never been so cold in my life. At that time the West Highland was run by class 27's
Great video! I love the 37’s in the BR Green livery’s, those look really good with the BR MK1’s as well as a nice rack of box vans. Don’t have one myself but it’s on the list for sure! The West Coast livery’s are really good as well, saw two of them when I went to the UK at York with Bahama
Great channel Hylt . Love the down to earth approach on this channel . If you need any help I live in Scotland close to Glasgow , so the West Highland is not far away . Happy New Year !
Hello Rus, thank you mate, you’ve been here since I started and it does not go unnoticed, I appreciate just how much info and advice you’ve given me in my short time and an offer like that may be one I can’t refuse should I need some references! 😎 happy new year my friend
Hi. Hylton and Annie. May I wish 2025 brings health. Happiness and hopefully wealth. The station really does look good. Congratulations on achieving that result. I enjoyed watching this video as it was about Dunromin and your thoughts for the future and your growing collection of locomotives.
Thank you Steve, it means a lot and wishing you all the best in 2025. Glad you enjoyed the update, as you’ve said many times before, it’s the journey and watching it being built that appeals. So hoping I can sate your interest with the build! 👌
What a selection box of delights Hylton! I’ll happily be corrected by any experts but I don’t think the 37 scotrail has ever been produced I’m sure the ones that are around are all repaints, rainbow railways were doing them at one point. I can’t understand why not though as they’d sell like hot cakes!!! Also another rare one 37663 Loch Tight and 37605 Loch Tupfor rowdy behaviour T shirt looks well mate‼️👍
Right you are Davey boy. Doesn’t seem they ever ran that livery but I’ll be damned if it’s not one of the nicest liveries ever on a 37. Anyways, race you to the next one that comes up for sale 😂
Good stuff Hylton, love the Tractors too. I have five that ran in South Wales in various liveries from the 60s green to the sectorization ones, but my passion is class 59s, seventeen of those so far lol. Looking forward to seeing the layout devolop in the New Year, have a good one, mate. HNY to you and yours :)
Hi again, V56xx. HNY. I can't remember whether we've revealed our respective ages during previous exchanges, but when I was a boy it seemed that a 37 was lurking around pretty much every curve in the track in South Wales, which probably explains why I have 20 of them... I recently snapped up my 2nd 59, "Vale of Glamorgan." I've still got a long way to go to match your fleet, however. All the best, Stephen
@ 20? Impressive :) I’m 60 as of last November eek - yes I remember 37s all over place from the 1960s to the mid 2000s in S Wales still see the odd one… Oddly, I can’t ever remember seeing a 59 in real Iife so quite why I have the whole class I have no idea lol Regards Chris
@Valleys56xx Hi Chris. I'll be 60 in September. Yes, unlike 37s, 59s were not a common sight in South Wales. My "Vale of Glamorgan" is in National Power livery (still available from DC Kits if you've not got one already), so I assume it was used on MGR coal trains to Aberthaw at some point.
I know exactly what you mean when you say you feel like an outsider. I live in Cyprus and there's only 6 people with layouts that I know of. I also live 120 km away from them so I am on the absolute periphery. I have had more contact with you than any of the others. Really look forward to seeing your content.❤
I can really appreciate what you’re saying Nick, like for like, it’s not easy feeling so sort of disconnected. Appreciate you watching and being part of the journey, always up for a chat 🤙
Another great video Hylton and I enjoyed the updates and the maroon Class 37's in particular !! I agree with you regarding 37409 Loch Awe in ScotRail livery - I think it was a repaint by Rainbow Railways but long since out of stock. I've been petitioning Accurascale for them to release a special of it, so keep your fingers crossed. I really enjoy the content of your videos and the manner of your presentation, always welcoming and informative. The thanks are all due to you, for creating your layout, your own model railway club and allowing us to join in it with you !! Very best wishes to you and Annie for 2025 !! Kind regards, Bill.
Thank you Bill, again. You’ve been a great supporter of the channel and it means a lot my friend. Here’s hoping your petition comes through, I would love to see that livery come to life on a model… and be available!!! It means a lot that you’re part of the journey. I don’t take it for granted. Keep well and have a brilliant new year too!
Double O Dave (aka, Russell Crowe) will be 47 years old in January and I don't think he can drive a Mini at that advanced age plus judging from his Asian accent he may not be able to find one in Asia, LOL. On a more serious side I've owned many automobiles like Jeeps, Mustangs, pick-ups, diesel work trucks, and my favorites Corvettes but I have never owned a Mini. If Dave starts a Corvette club, I will be there with bells on revving my engine. Back to trains, I do understand your attraction to the Class 37 diesel, and you should do a review of anything you get even if it is older like the Hornby K1after all it is new to your collection, and I think others that own one would like to know your view. Love the snowplow and the switching guts on the Royal Scotsman was inspired. I have exactly 60 model train sites I monitor, and you are in the top 10 of my favorites plus Double O Dave is the most recent so thank you for that. I really enjoyed the journey with you and will continue getting excited to see new content posted by you. Great update, future plans info, and locomotive introductions plus enjoy the New Year! Jersey Bill
Hello JB ☺️ we might have to hire a driver for him, the old sod is certainly getting along. Wow you’re quite the car enthusiast. I would love to get my hands on some American muscle at some point in my life, surprisingly a fair few imports down here in South Africa. I’m mostly a Japanese enthusiast, having now owned both a Honda Type R, and now a Subaru WRX, they have a lot of character. Thanks for your thoughts, I’ll definitely get to the K1 in the future then. It is very humbling to hear that I am one of your top choices to watch, it means a hell of a lot to me. Thank you. I look forward to sharing the journey in the new year and of course, chatting to you along the way. Keep well my friend and all the best for 2025. Hylt
Very nice cuz, love the recap and all, you definitely belong here, in fact I think you know at least a little about what you’re doing 😉 Soo excited about the backboards, how cool. 😎 And very much looking forward to everything you have planned for 2025 🎉
Thanks cuz, glad you enjoyed it. 😉 Looking forward to showing you what we’ve got planned for 2025 🎉 and I agree. The back boards are going to be MINT if I know my sister 👌 all the best for the year ahead on your channel too, big things!
Oh you are absolutely right about that, I’m hoping to nab a Heljan 27 for the right price, any suggestions on running numbers? Thanks so much for your support, I can’t tell you how much it means
Great update Hylt, love the plan for the future both on the layout and the channel itself! All the best for the new year, mate! P.s, have you thought about a class 37 cavalcade? Since you have so many... 😂
You know what Rob… we might just have to do that. Thanks bud, appreciate your encouragement and enthusiasm for the content. I know you’ve always got my back.
Hi Hylton, Great update as always and I'd just like to wish you and Annie all the very best for 2025. Looking forward to seeing how Dunromin 2.0 progresses along with what sound like very interesting other projects. Maybe this will be the year that I finally get my "Craigie" layout off the drawing board and it becomes something I can actually run trains on!! I think that was my intention last new year, and the one before, and the... lol. BTW, you can't go wrong with tractors and it's always nice to see an Eastfield Westie 🙂
Hey Derick. Thank you for the wishes and all the best to you and yours in 2025 too my friend. I’ve got your back my friend, expect every time you comment in the next year to be met with a “How’s the Craigie coming along then?” 😂 it’s about time you did methinks!
Hello Hylton, firstly have a very Happy New Year to you and Annie. Looking forward to more updates on your progress. I had a couple of pre-orders delivered the first was Locomotion No1, a stunning model by Hornby. The second was a Black 5 with the steam generator, it's digital and has the HM 7000 decoder. Nearly all of the locomotives I run are DC, I've tried DCC but I did not think it was for me. The HM 7000 system seems very simple and straight forward, I have run the Black 5 in on DCC and next step is to try running it using HM 70000 on the tablet, I want to see how it performs and may be put one or two more onto the HM 7000 system ??? Any way take care and stay safe :) :) :)
Hello Colin, thank you and to you and yours my friend. Lovely, how is your Locomotion No 1 handling? I’m very jealous of your Black 5 too, having run the steam Scotsman, I adore the tech. While HM7000 can be a bit to wrap your head around coming from DC, it’s fairly intuitive and I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it very soon! Enjoy the experience!
Excellent update as always Hylt. As a steam head I have to agree with you though on the love of the Class 37, I don't know why it happens but it happens. Your channel has along with a few others, been a total inspiration to me as I returned to the hobby around the time you got going. Thank you for that. All that remains is for me now is to wish you and yours a very Happy and Prosperous New Year, see you in 2025 and hey! lets do it all again. Take care.
Hey T, thanks my friend. Yes the slope is a slippery one with 37s. Thank you, that means a whole lot to me, especially given how especially talented you are. Wishing you the same for the new year. Here’s to more adventures on this journey ☺️
Have a great New Year 2025, good to hear your plans and projects and looking forward to seeing them. Blown away by your Mini Club shirt, I've had a number of the older mini's, the beauty in Oz is they tend not to suffer from corrosion as badly as they do in the UK, so I'm always on the lookout for another one. ...Drew
Cheers Drew! And thanks for the Mini comment, hard not to love those feisty little machines. I would love to get a classic cooper at some point honestly, they’re great little weekenders. Appreciate your support man
Hey; hope you’re had a good Christmas and a great new year, the 37s are a problem, but they do have a certain charm… is your royal Scotsman one of the sound deleux models? Curious if these are worth the price hike… That backscene looks like it will be breath taking, look forward to your how tos in the new year, I do find myself recommending your channel more and more, hope you have a good new year
Hey Luke, appreciate it mate, hope you have a stellar new year too mate! So I actually bought the DCC ready version, and switched all the internals from my Loch Rannoch SFD into the Scotsman. I can say it’s a stunning piece of kit though, the colours and livery detail is superb and I suspect it will become a fairly sought after variant in coming years. I’m very excited about the backscene, it’s a huge undertaking so expect it may take a while. But it will be worth it! Thanks for watching mate and for your support
For Christmas I got a Bachmann L&YR Class 5, and I will also be kicking off 2025 in the most fitting way possible with Rapido’s Highland Railway Jones Goods 🏴
As a Caledonian railway fan I love a nice blue steam engine on the west coast, but I have to give it to the LNER they really did have great engines on the East coast.
Whilst I'm mainly a steam fan, I do think class 37s are one of the nicest diesels. I like class 47s too. I think the only other Loch you didn't mention is 'Loch Eil' There are quite a few other Scottish themed class 37s: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_Rail_Class_37_locomotives One that's very appropriate for your layout is 'Old Fettercairn' which is named after a whisky distillery.😀 I do like the Hornby K1's. Mine is arguably my favourite goods loco. The fact it's a mogul makes it a bit different, I like the black livery with the red banding and the diecast boiler is great. And as you point out you can pick them up relatively cheaply.
Thanks mate, I do like the 47s too. Agreed. Yes, I missed that one, Loch Eil seems to have been made by Accurascale? Totally missed out on that, but hoping I’ll find it. I love “Old Fettercairn” has it ever been made in model format? The K1 is becoming a fast favourite of mine too. Thanks so much for your thoughts mate
PS: 37s look good in several liveries, but if I had to choose, it would be between Large Logo Blue (NOT grey) with black engine bonnets, and BR Blue FYE but only on a member of the class with split headcode boxes. If I really HAD to select just one, then it would be LLB. But hang on. They look great in ROG Europhoenix livery, too....!
I've started railway modelling with the Hornby TT120 scale. I am waiting for them to release their Class 37s later in 2025. We have no idea what liveries that plan to put out first.
Lovely! I think TT120 is maybe, the perfect scale? The right amount of detail mixed with far better space options. Can’t wait to see your build come to life and the new 37s 👍🤩
Happy new year!!! I did get something model railway related. Some scenic items, and a 2002-2004 Hornby LNER A3 Humorist. Also some stuff for DCC and using HM7000
@@PNMotorsportGamesAndTrains brilliant mate, that’s an epic haul, sorry it took me a while but I just responded to your previous comment. What’s the plan with HM7000?
@Proper_Chuffed a TT120 layout as I don't have the space for a full 00 gauge one. All 3 my TT locos are A1/A3s so far. Can also run my steam generator Scotsman too. Which I did a Short of. Also nothing wrong with Class 37s, only one I have is a Bachmann BR Green one.
Hi mate I hope you are well and had a good Christmas o wish you and annie a good 2025. As for the hornby K1 review you csn never have enough review of a model every one got there own opinion on them Keep safe ARP
Hello ☺️ sadly I do not, I seemed to have missed out on that batch as I entered the hobby late last year and they were already long gone. Can’t even find them on eBay, which is really sad. I’m hoping and praying one comes along in 2025! We shall see. But thank you for dropping by and sharing ☺️
@Proper_Chuffed if I do sell i will message you before listing. It's the factory sound model to which I've added crew and buffer beam detail at one end

Love the 37s im a huge fan my favourite livery is the ROG.

Regards Chris
Hylt
Best 37 colour scheme is BR green with bo yellow panels.
Hard to argue with that, it’s a great choice! Classic and brilliantly contrasting.
Very excited to see what is ahead for you and the channel in 2025. Happy New Year
Cheers RJ, I am very grateful for your support, all the best in 2025 to you too!
You defintely need class 26 and 27!!!
PS I love what you do! Thank you for what you do!
Looking forward to all the SAR stuff too.
Oh you are absolutely right about that, I’m hoping to nab a Heljan 27 for the right price, any suggestions on running numbers? Thanks so much for your support, I can’t tell you how much it means
Happy new yr to you and your family, I treated myself pre Christmas to 3 Deltics Accruscale sound before they sold out? Which they have already!
Wow! 3 Deltics?! I’m assume Porterbrook purple, green and blue? Happy new year Tony!
@@Proper_Chuffed I got you, fam. 👌
Take care.
Actually Choby all that remains for you is to get yourself a mini owners club t shirt 😁
@@doubleodave I'm saving.....
Appreciate your support man
Christmas was pretty good. I got a new tooled Hornby 9F that was weathered by TMC and 2 Adam’s Radial locos with different running numbers
Wow mate, that’s absolutely amazing. Proper spoilt you were! How’s that 9F running?
The 9F runs fantastic!! With the TMC weathering it’s easily the best locomotive in my collection
Nice t shirt!
It is! He did well with it 😂
Hey; hope you’re had a good Christmas and a great new year, the 37s are a problem, but they do have a certain charm… is your royal Scotsman one of the sound deleux models? Curious if these are worth the price hike…
That backscene looks like it will be breath taking, look forward to your how tos in the new year, I do find myself recommending your channel more and more, hope you have a good new year
Hey Luke, appreciate it mate, hope you have a stellar new year too mate!
Class 37 'Loch Awe' (32-779Z) Bachmann is available in BR Blue livery from DC Kits in the UK, prlced at £250.
Top shout Dave, thank you mate, I’ll go check it out, definitely need to have her in the Loch Lineup! 😂
For Christmas I got a Bachmann L&YR Class 5, and I will also be kicking off 2025 in the most fitting way possible with Rapido’s Highland Railway Jones Goods 🏴
Liam, that’s absolutely brilliant mate! How does the class 5 handle? You can’t go wrong with the jones goods! Which colour are you getting?
@ oh aye she’s a good’un, as for the Jones Goods, I’ve settled on early LMS unlined black as the Highland Railway versions have mostly sold out now
Happy New Year! Excited to see what you produce for us next year! Perhaps a layout room upgrade should be an aircon 🤪😜😜😜😜
And to you Jade! Haha, the price of aircons… yikes. I’ll just roast, it’s fine 😂
Merry Christmas and happy new year fella.
You too John 😎
This is for when the channel hits 100k, I was one of the original 3k subscribers 😂
I’m hoping that day does come… some day 😂 a man can dream, but if it ever does. This comment is a bookmark!
As a Caledonian railway fan I love a nice blue steam engine on the west coast, but I have to give it to the LNER they really did have great engines on the East coast.
I hear you William, love the Caley blue, but as you say, a fair few great other options. Thanks for watching
Whilst I'm mainly a steam fan, I do think class 37s are one of the nicest diesels. I like class 47s too.
I think the only other Loch you didn't mention is 'Loch Eil'
There are quite a few other Scottish themed class 37s:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_Rail_Class_37_locomotives
One that's very appropriate for your layout is 'Old Fettercairn' which is named after a whisky distillery.😀
I do like the Hornby K1's.
I like WCR burgundy for sure, I need another loco in it....
C’mon Craig. Do it for the children.
Hi mate
I hope you are well and had a good Christmas o wish you and annie a good 2025.
As for the hornby K1 review you csn never have enough review of a model every one got there own opinion on them
Keep safe ARP
@@AdiPullen Hey Adi, thanks mate, I appreciate it and will pass along your wishes. Good point, I’ll think about it. Keep well mate
Got a Bachmann class 47 scotrail 47712
Amazing! I’ve got one too and I’m sure you’re quite happy with it?
@ yes I am happy with it although I have to dcc fit it myself and I’ve never done it before
Hi Hylton, do you have the Accurascale 37027 Loch Eil? It's in BR blue small logo
@Proper_Chuffed I might sell one after New Year on ebay, can't decide 🤔 whether to keep it or sell.
I can imagine that’s a tough decision. And no pressure, but if you do, drop me a mail, I would be first to your door 😂🤙
@Proper_Chuffed if I do sell i will message you before listing. It's the factory sound model to which I've added crew and buffer beam detail at one end
@ sounds like a gem my friend. Clearly a lot of love has gone into it ☺️thank you for considering me
You could rename and renumber a 37 to Loch Awe! Not difficult.
True! That’s not a bad idea mate.
Get yourself a CDU makes the points motors change better and gets rid of the buzz.
Hey Kenneth, that’s a top shout, thank you, will look into it
Is a interview still on the cards for 2025
Yes I understand that my channel smaller than your
I’m always keen Adi.
