  • Violante Nessi is a Fashion Designer. She narrates her story, full of struggle and perseverance, to inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles.
Beginning as a working student in Milan, she moved through New York and London gaining the experience needed in the field that she always loved: fashion. She eventually came back to Italy to sharpen her craft and formulate a plan, until she found the strength and confidence to launch her own brand "VIOLANTE NESSI" and open her first boutique in London.
Her life learnings are: preparing for any situation, starting small, allowing things to take their time, and always being true to oneself. Violante Nessi was born in Bologna in 1990 by Chilean mother and Italian-German father. From 2009 to 2012 she studied Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni in Milan and at Central Saint Martins College in London. During her studies she worked as a Sales Assistant at Marc Jacobs. In 2012, Violante moved to New York where she worked within the design team of Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra. In 2014, she returned to Europe to become Design Assistant at Tom Ford in London. In 2015, Violante went back to Italy to build the foundations of her namesake brand. In 2018, she launched her official online store and she moved to London where she opened her first boutique, while rigorously maintaining all production in Italy with local artisans and suppliers. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

It shows how far you can go if you have family support and determination, but I wanted t0 hear more about the post-trend fashion idea sooner in this piece. She starts talking more about that at 9.50 (or at least the inspiration and heart aspect).
