I absolutely love this gun I'm a huge fan of decoker da/sa hammer fired pistols. This gun was 99% of perfect for me. The only insignificant minor thing for me was the texture of the grip. It was ever so slightly uncomfortable. I installed a Hogue rubber grip and wow, perfection. The grip was great and the girth ever so little wider, perfect for my hand. I love this gun.

Great Review! My XDe 9mm is the most reliable Pistol I've ever owned. It simply never jams. It's very accurate. It shoots very soft and stay Level for a pistol it's size. There isn't a pistol made at this time at any price that I would rather have as my EDC

I know, I’ve had slight, and I mean slight problems below -20, but even then the gun never doesn’t go bang, honestly can’t imagine a glock is more reliable and I think these have a much better finish

I love this gun! I have medium hands and it fits perfectly in them, the slide is so easy to pull back (which is a struggle for me with most guns), and the recoil isn't too bad! Thank you for posting this video, I learned a little more about my gun!

This is my carry gun. I originally dismissed it because it reminded me of a hi-point. But at the end of the day, I prefer DA/SA, I prefer manual safeties, and I wanted a piece that was easy to conceal and didn't make me feel like I was hanging a brick from my belt every day. I can group respectably with it up to about 15 yards, and I really like the full grip. I have pretty large hands and fingers, so the only thing I don't like about it is that the trigger guard is small. This causes my finger to graze the guard with every trigger pull, and for that same finger to take more of the recoil than a finger should. It winds up making my hands and fingers hurt after a long range day with it, and since it's my carry piece, I do try to put a few hundred rounds a month through it. Other than the trigger guard though, it's a great carry gun for me.

I have the 45 and wondering if anyone had any issues with the takedown lever... Has anyones xde ever stop holding the slide on? Like did anyone have their slide not stay on with the lever down? I've personally never had any issues but it looks like it doesn't latch on the barrel very well so I'm just making sure it's not gonna randomly break or have the slide fly off while shooting

In my honest opinion it is one of the few pistols by S/A that I feel could use some trigger refinement I am not sure about other people's experiences but I for one don't care for the trigger Love the platform but it needs a trigger job I guess owning CZ's and Beretta DA/SA pistols spoiled me for what a DA/SA should feel like It does shoot well and is fairly accurate I just wish the trigger was more tuned and easier to sense feedback in

I really wanted to like this pistol, but when I was handling it at my local gun shop I found that the trigger guard was a little small. Not sure if the XD-s is the same way, but I didn't like how little room there is in the trigger guard when in double action.

The quality of my new XDe was just incredible. My CZ, S&W and Beretta firearms were not as smooth and polished. I did change my sights to a new set of front and back TruGlo fiber optics. Trigger position is a little long in DA...I carry it in semi cocked position, that slightly (but just enough) shortens the position length of trigger and the pull and still is a long enough to feel safe as with most DA firearms. Trigger and hammer mod kits are being designed and manufactured by a couple of companies. Never will regret buying this gun.

Excellent review of what I feel is a very fine little pistol... I have owned the 9mm and 45 for a couple of years now and like them both very much... I was very glad to hear your opinions on the trigger as I am of the same belief that a defensive gun should not have have a light short trigger pull with a very short reset... Too much chance of unintended discharges when in high stress situations....

Love everything about this gun (hammer, 9mm, safety, etc). Just wish they'd gone with a "witness hole" in the slide, versus the "loaded chamber indicator," like the Hellcat...
Also, SA really needs to significantly reduce their prices by $100 or so...
That would help 'entice' those shooters, who just *might* be thinking of coming *back* to them after recent events made things difficult...
    just say'in... 🙄

When they get this in the XDm 3.8 form factor, I'll buy.
Not saying it has to be a XDm with a hammer. But larger grip, at least a 3.8 inch barrel.
I love most guns, some SW polymer I just don't care for the triggers that come on the pistols.

I own one. Very accurate for me POA POI. Striker fired guns are not for me and I know I'm in the minority. The XDE is now discontinued since mostly all guns are designed with ever increased striker fired, short reseting lighter triggers. I've seen other reviewers stating this is better built than Glocks and better designed trigger than a SIG 239. Now that it's discontinued, I hope SA will still have a good support system for this model series.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Whatever anyone has to say about Springfield I can say that I've never had one fail. Be it any of my 4 1911's, 3 XD/XDM's, 2 M1A's, or Saint. My striker fired pistol of choice is a XD9 Mod2 that is maybe the best all around service size pistol I've shot so far, (I own CZ, Sig, HK, S&W, and a number of other ploy wonders.), I carry this in my rotation year around though. For a single stack carry pistol I normally carry a Performance Center Shield 9mm, Kahr CM9, or one of 2 1911's... Mainly my Shield... Love that pistol. Nice weight and very accurate for me, but I've been eyeballing this for a while now. This may be the year I go ahead and pull the trigger on it. Thanks for refreshing the XDe for me again GB. I want to like this gun, but can’t get past its looks. The slide is out of proportion too tall for the frame. I know that shouldn’t matter, but when spending hundreds of dollars on a gun, I feel like aesthetics are allowed to matter. Besides, I wonder if the tall bore axis leads to more snappy recoil.
I would rather carry an old school S&W 3913. Same weight, thinness, same capacity but doesn’t look goofy.

The ergonomic of the trigger shoe is horrible If one wants to carry de-cocked. The curve is too aggressive and is very uncomfortable when in that state. The only way to defeat this would be to carry it cocked and locked. When in that condition, the trigger is set back some, and there is more room for the trigger finger. At that point, I would rather carry a 1911 compact. It's too bad S/A didn't do a better job on the design of the trigger, because the XDe would be almost perfect.

Saw an XDe in the gun store some time back. Thought it had a great trigger, but its top heavy, blocky and fuggly.
Sorry but that gun is one step up from a hi point in the looks department.

Great gun, just not the right size for me. DA/SA is nice, but not nice enough to be bigger than a Shield in a day and age where the little 10 round P365 lives.

mozzberg It looks like a High Point. Ugly as sin. Springfield offers alternative pistols that look so much better. Not sure who approved this design, but probably related to the person who approved the AMC Pacer.

@@nimbly1693 You say that like it's a bad thing.... I own many foreign made pistols and in many cases feel they are just as good if not better than much of the American-made stuff... Also in many cases are certainly a better value for the price...

I didn't mean it that way. It was a reply to him saying that Springfield did good q.c. I like a lot of imported guns, and a lot are, as you said, a great value. Honestly though, I do wish the company named after America's oldest armory did have an American made pistol as their flagship. Smith and Wesson makes striker fired polymer pistols that are a good value here in the USA.

Didn't stay for the review. Just dropped by to say "I think that's a pretty hideous firearm." Just kinda clunky looking.
