For me, that was Wrestling. Not today's Wrestling. I would watch it on Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings. Saw some of the best in the 1980's at The Houston Coliseum.
Gino tangling with the big boys at an early age. He damn sure would have had a spot on the WWF back then. JCP would have put him in t.v. title or U.S. title contention. When he could have made a great NWA champion
This is real pro wrestling. Good characters, storytelling drama, moves instead of glorified gymnastics...no need for fireworks or theme music pep rallies. This was worth buying a ticket for.
Three greats on this sumbitch in best Texas rassling tradition! Hernandez. Lewin. Rhodes. Houston Wrestling is a joy to discover on TH-cam or anywhere!B.W.
Gino comes off as the prototype for EC3. Hope that Derrick clears concussion protocols very soon. And returns to NXT action as the topnotch Heel that he is!B.W.
Gino wasn't an NWA heavyweight champion level wrestler... but than again not many were. He was so good at getting heat, selling for the babyface, and being a great chickensh*t heel. The rampant drug culture in Texas killed him just as he was coming into his own. This guy would have made millions of dollars in WCW or the WWF.
I spent many a Friday night at the Sam Houston Coliseum, watching classic performers in their primes!
Dang! This takes me back! Paul Boesch and Houston Wrstling was the BEST!!!
Yes absolutely the Best!!!

I love old school wrestling
Dusty and Gino, LEGENDS. Rest In Peace brothers.
Thanks for the upload.
Wow, Mark Lewin on the mic? I've been a wrestling fan for 40 years and that's the only time I've ever heard him talk
I do agree on that.
The wrestling world misses Gino more than they can possibly imagine. Gino put people in seats.
So this Gino/Lewin feud was an ongoing thing in Houston for like two years?
That was only the second time I heard Mark Lewin speak
3 days before John Lennon was murdered😞

Pat Patterson would have given his left testicle to "mentor" Gino
Gino Hernandez was too much of a liability, can you imagine the nwa world champion dying from a COCAINE OVERDOSE?
Mark Lewin was freaking huge!!!
Ginos the man. Love the take a few punches and wiff a few that don't connect. Just awesome stuff
NWA pro Wrestling at its finest
Just a few years later Gino would bring his heat to World Class. And Dusty would make his way from Florida to WCW.
Lewin was a Freakin Beast at That Time is this Before He Became The Maniac Mark Lewin?
No, he was Maniac Mark at this time. There's another, earlier youtube clip I think from 1979 where he does his bark.
kevin law The Purple Haze! 👍
@@firebird6522 I think early 80 in GCW with Abby and The Great Mephisto.

What an electric match and time.
Love that knee, during the reverse chiln lock...

Who was the Play by Play Guy here? Knowledgeable individual with a Phil Silvers sound to his voice.B.W.

Didn't know they had this match.
Mark Lewin was freaking yuge
Dusty Rhodes the American nightmare with his scary ass Gino is the all-time greatest
Did flair steal a lot of Ginos stuff
No Ric Flair didn't steal anything from Gino Hernandez'.
Gino calling Lewin Queer?
Called him a "quitter."B.W.
Didn't he say quitter not queer? IDK
