    Hi there. Thanks for watching
    A few corrections:
16:23 - Mexican oil production peaked in 2004, not 2005
24:05- Scheinbaum won 59.75% of the vote, not 61%. The official results were changed after I recorded the voice overs.
My next video will be about the US elections (barring anything crazy happening that would make the script outdated.) Hope to see you there.
As always, you can watch it early, without ads by supporting this channel on patreon: www.patreon.com/apd23
Sources for all videos are made available to select tier Patrons (or broke students who email me)
    Have a lovely day

When the morena party came into office not alot was done about the corruption, hell even one of the standing generals was a previously convicted part of organized crime was instated as the new general of the national police. The morena party has been very lenient on crime. Why? Profits. When morena came into office what they began to do is help international companies open production in mexico. This explains the huge train ofc. Why was it the bloodiest election in mexican history? Money. More money was made by the cartels in this 6 years of administration than almost any other time in history. They killed all the candidates not because they brought peace, but because they brought change. Till this day mexico still has one of the highest crime rates in the world. The current sitting administration is the responsible one. Why? They are the ones clawing at power, they must keep it at all cost. My point. Its all fun and games in these societies until someone figures out that they dont have to play by your rules. Crime will only keep increasing in mexico meanwhile this person you are so proud to let into your land and conquer it will keep taking more and more from its people. All love doe and do some research make sure you vote and well stay safe 🖤

A good example is how the massive influx of Haitian immigrants is considered a blessing. They are seen as hard working and you do not see politicians using them as a reason to stop Haitians from incoming. I won’t lie that there is not a negative opinion of immigrants from central and South America. They’re immigration is seen as unfavorable as for caravans which are hot pockets for an appropriately large amount of waste, along with the typical straining of local resources and institutions.
My point is that while there are politically driven xenophobia, it surprisingly isn’t always due to racial reasons. The situation is still sad, unfortunately immigrants are an easy punching bag, but what it says about Mexico’s perception of “outsiders” is surprising.

They had to provide a impossible number of barrels and had to pay up any time they missed the numbers, which was every time and to multiple companies. AMLO got rid of those contracts and PEMEX has been boosted tremendously. He built 2 refineries, upgraded existing ones to current standards and bought one in the US named Deerpark. The new refineries have started production recently, so numbers are expected to go up. Similar case was going on with CFE, their electric company and he also did similar things.

Benito Juarez is the only full Native person to be a president in a country of the Americas. His famous quote is "the road to peace is the respect of all Nations rights." Hello friend, first of all, thank you very much for this video! As a Mexican citizen, I'd like to share my own narrative with you and your audience:
Firstly, the PRI held power for over seven decades. This political party was heavily criticized starting in the 1960s due to its ties to crime and the U.S. government, which undermined Mexico's sovereignty. The PRI also supported American counter-offensives on Mexican soil to prevent the spread of communism or leftist ideologies, often using death and repression by paramilitary groups.
Regarding the PAN, as the first party to defeat the PRI, it developed strong connections with the wealthy and pursued a far-right agenda, dividing Mexican politics along class lines. However, this did not prevent the PAN from winning again, albeit through electoral fraud. Its predecessor, Vicente Fox, garnered a poor reputation among businesses and the general population, being seen as a clown to this day.
After Felipe Calderón's victory, Mexican society became divided. To quell nationwide protests, Calderón declared war on organized crime. This strategy aimed to sow chaos, keeping people indoors and preventing protests, weakening the PRI, whose Mexican mafia ties were significant. It also aimed to improve relations with the U.S. by purchasing arms and accommodating U.S. franchises where Mexican businesses struggled due to violence.
This approach plunged our country into unchecked violence and corruption. This widespread frustration led the PRI to eventually return, as it seemed only they could win, with little room for leftist parties. Yet, this too ended badly, leaving Mexican society deeply worn out.
In this context of discontent and fear sowed by the PAN, AMLO eventually won the elections. Despite criticisms, he has demonstrated genuine preparation to serve his people, yielding better results than any other post-revolutionary leader.

On the same hand, you’d do an even more balanced job if you were to: 1. Explain what happened with the Supreme Court under Zedillo, and 2. Compare the MXN-USD parity for the past six administrations at the very same point and time (more or less 90-days to the sunset of each departing president starting with Miguel de la Madrid). Thanks for putting this together.

OC is right, both of you are above me are wrong. Hispanic is a term that refers to a native spanish speaker or anything related to the Spanish language. You don’t need to have Spanish ancestry to be hispanic. Hispanoamérica is composed of immigrants from many countries in Europe Asia and Africa. A good example is Argentina with a large population of immigrants that didn’t necessarily come from Spain, however Argentina is still a hispanic country because it is a Spanish-speaking country.
Much like there is no Arab race. An Arab person is someone who is a native Arabic speaker, meaning they’re from an Arabic-speaking country. Doesn’t matter if they are Caucasian, North African, Middle-eastern, Asian or any race.

PAN and PRI sent Pemex to the abyss. They had contracts with the Spanierd enterprises that were buying our oil. They started the privatization of several state enterprises not only pemex, we call that "neoliberalism" who sent Mexico to extreme poverty while the elite benefited not only by buying those companies but also because one President from the PRI party turned private debt to public to save the rich (we're still paying that debt, it's called FOBAPROA). Calderon started the war against narco and we are still paying the consequences. They wanted to privatize water, lithium, our mine industry, health, education, etc. AMLO started to revert all of these, he's been investing in restoring pemex, schools, hospitals, bringing programs to help the poor so they don't turn into criminals. All these things take time, of course 6 years is not enough. To add to the problem, they were extremely corrupt and are now millioners, they live in Spain, they helped the rich so they didn't had to pay taxes, AMLO made them start to paying thousands of millions. The only problem; the Justisce System in Mexico is broken, they work for the elites, they freed criminals, protect the rich from paying their debts, blocked amlo's reforms. They're saying to people AMLO is dangerous because he wants to change the rules, but they forget Calderon changed the constitution 110 times and not four our benefit. The media is against AMLO because they were also benefited from those old parties with huge amounts of money to remain silent and keep up with their agenda, there's proof of all of this. In our history with neoliberalism we also have a history of state crimes like Acteal, Ayotzinapa, Aguas Blancas, etc. AMLO is a decent, honest man who's not perfect but he loves Mexico and its people, Claudia knows all the above and she's also a fighter. I truly believe we are in the right side of history.

I watched till the end, waiting for you to mention the massive tax collection from corporations who had not payed in years because the prior administrations gave them the ok not to pay them.. it's important to mention it because all those millions now being collected is what is paying for all the social programs, some may call them unstainable, but business men know better, the taxes now being collected has given bigger purchase power to the people, which means bigger profits to corporations. Trickle down economic with a twist, give the money to the poor instead of giving it to the rich.

And let’s not forget AMLO also faced many challenges due to COVID, he was criticized for not taking on loans from the IMF to support social programs and purchase medical equipment, unlike many other countries during this time, Mexico did not incur more debt because government funds were adequate to sustain the expense.

Mexican here, and a politics nerd. A real thorough and well researched exposé here! Thank you for that. Audiences will be better informed because of this, and I can attest to it. I would, however, would like to point out some analytical avenues that are missing, maybe on purpose since they would take five whole videos in themselves:
The PRI's resurgence in popularity and electoral wins in 2012 was mainly due to the PAN's absolute lack of control towards cartel violence, a phenomenon that the PAN instigated by launching a frontal attack on organized crime since 2006. People thought (me included) that good ol' PRI, that governed the country for many decades with the cartels at peace, would negotiate with them and violence would recede.
This turned out not only to be false (violence continued to scale), but the PRI-Peña Nieto government was so disgustingly cynical about their corruption antics that AMLO's message in 2018 centered around ending said corruption, which was decades-old and without question a thing of the political and oligarchical elites.
As Mexicans, we are used to and even encourage many forms of corruption, as long as we feel the government is effective to our needs. Cartel violence was the tipping point that started to shift this perspective, and AMLO was brilliant in capitalizing his message of ending corruption to face the great elephant in the room: poverty.
So, yeah: the structural mix of cartel violence, corruption and poverty where the perfect melting pot for a leader like AMLO to be this popular. He has only made a real difference in terms of poverty, but... Hey, that's much more than the others!
Also: Sheinbaum, unlike AMLO, has matured as a politician from governmental positions. She is not a traditional grassroots-campaigning, electioneering political animal like AMLO. She is perceived as a results, data-driven decision maker, and I think all of the points you touch in your video will have a real interesting outcome with a profile like hers. Let's see what the future holds...
(BTW: hit me up if you'd like some help with your videos. I like your approach)

She has Jewish roots, but she is of mixed origin. She does have Hispanic heritage because her mother is Sephardic. In fact, her full name is Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. "Pardo" is a Hispanic surname. Part of her family has been in Mexico and Spain for over 100 years.
As a Mexican who has had the opportunity to travel and learn about different cultures, it surprises me how people in the U.S. racialize everything. No one in Mexico focuses on these racial matters. People in the U.S. need to change their mindset because, to be honest, constantly emphasizing race is damaging your country. Mexicans have many different racial origins, including indigenous roots that vary from one region to another, European ancestry (specifically from Spain and France), and African influence in the Gulf-Southeast part of the country. We have a much stronger sense of community than in the U.S. For us, we are all Mexican.
You should learn this lesson well, U.S. citizens: currently and throughout the last 15 years, but especially for the last 6 years, Mexico has been embracing Argentinians, Colombians, Brazilians, Haitians, Guatemalans, Venezuelans, Spaniards, Italians, British, French, Jewish and Chinese people. Many are working towards obtaining Mexican nationality. We never think of them separately. It's time to wake up.

You're understanding the matter the wrong way, offcourse many mexicans like myself and the several presidents have had signifficant foreign (only really european) ancestry; But Vicente Fox QUESADA quite Clearly has hispanic roots too, That's whats been referred to in here, and what we tipically think of sufficient to not have our mexicanness questioned. Claudia has 4 foreign grandparents all eastern european, wich Is an unseen departure from defecto tradition, with she being a second/third (I dont know form where It counts) generation migrant from a trully foreign origin, Spanish ancestry being considered barely foreign at all followed by french and anglo and then italian and german all Western european and from the Catholic segments.
While Is a absolutely true This ethnic matter Is deffinitely not a surface thought matter for nearly all of México, data shows that It Is 100% an existing underlying almost subconscious bias for México to favour the average ethnic ancestry when choosing leaders. When thinking of the ideal Mexican leader we default universally to the classical mestizo type, a person with indigenous and Spanish roots, and When as often happens More ancestries get thrown In The mix we tend to shunn them to the background in favour of the Spanish and indigenous ancestry
