He's so much more than that. We wouldn't have the turntables we do today without him. People call him the mad scientist of hip Hop and he's part of the holy Trinity, The people who created hip hop. Without him we most likely wouldn't have it
Classic footage of the original DJ who I haven't seen live as yet - Interesting comments about people stopping & watching rather than dancing - Perhaps he should have let the tune play a bit longer & then cut in?!
It makes me laugh when these guys say 'back in the day', well surely it was only 8-10 yrs before this video was made? Back in the day to me means at least 20 yrs ago. ;) Maybe its my age! That Adventures of GMF still sounds absolutely awesome, its hiphop perfection to my ears, the DJ artform at its very best. I can't think of a better mix, it must have sounded like it was from another planet back in 1981.
People had jheri curls in NY. But it died down in 1986, the same year of this documentary. He prob still had his because he was from the old old school and wasn't hip to what the new kids were rockin.
There clothes are so retro especially the guy with the nike shirt and blue starter jacket dope nothing the less love 80's fashion wish I was born then
The Michael Jordan of DJ's. True Legend.
