Nate's a fav too! So hard to pick a fav fav though - Marcus Gilmore is amazing and i just learned about Makaya McCraven, younger but man. drummers are the heart of any band. I love it when drummers are so creative the band takes the bench for a minute haha

Although I've had a couple of Mackaya's tracks on my playlists, I really only discovered who he is a couple of weeks ago. His newest release is out of this world phenomenal!

Never seen this guy before. I think what I like is the simplicity in using the rim. A 'modern' drum solo would be similar hits but just moved around and it makes it harder to distinguish the accents and patterns, but you can every hit it so clearly on the rim. He could do all that and disperse it through other toms and cymbals, but it wouldn't make it any more or less difficult. This man has awesome stick control and I enjoyed listening:)

    • @jackytoppie5561

There was a whole lot of creativity. There was a whole lot of feel and emotional content in everything that he played.
