I have known Nick since med school. Watching the man, human, doctor he has become…reminds me how incredible he is. Thanks Jon for letting the rest of the world also see a glimpse!
It's generally interesting to observe how roles between siblings can reverse forth and back, where the younger one can also assume the role as a kind of "older brother". I gather that sometimes that also could have been true for these Brothers. Anyway, two inspiring men.
Jon has ALWAYS been one of my favorite actors! I now hold a very high respect for him as a PERSON! One who has PLENTY of cash, PLENTY of extra leisure time, PLENTY of show biz fame and PLENTY of whatever it is he wants! Yet he decided to start up a TH-cam channel to conduct REAL sit down’s with REAL talks about REAL topics that we as humans and society as a whole, regardless of one’s financial or social status NEEDS to hear! MUCH LOVE Jon! And btw, your little brother is a true HERO!
This is one of the best conversations I’ve ever had the privilege to listen to. It’s so amazing to know we have people like Nick on this planet. Jon this is awesome. These are the conversations that matter. This is just wonderful honestly.
For what it's worth, man...I get more excited to support actors when I know that they're decent people. This shows just how genuine you are and that makes me buy you MORE as Frank, Sam, etc. I'd rather hear you talk about where you come from and how you think than you be one of those guys who is constantly splashed everywhere in the media out dressed to the nines for every single event just to keep yourself in the public eye. Your work speaks for itself and anyone who would allow you being a hardworking dude from a good family to impede their enjoyment of your work...well, sounds like they were looking for a reason not to watch you for starters.
I totally 👍 agree!!! I just recently learned of Jon's background after see him in " We own this city"!!! I bond and connect with this guy as a fan like no other!!!! As a Washington DC native I got really excited learning where he and his family!!!
What I truly love about these interviews is the depth that Jon brings to them. He's not just a meathead like some of the characters he plays. Which speaks not only to his acting chops, but his quite Non-Hollywood intellect. Awesome content. Love it.
Jon one of your cousins is a friend of mine and she's one of the coolest and kindest people I know along with being a teacher. It's awesome that your family is filled with amazing people.
Also wanted to say I love Nick's point about education versus regulation. Like I'm very much a die hard anarchist and it just seems to me that people can regulate themselves if they're fully educated about something.
When you first released the trailer for this podcast, this was the episode I was most looking forward to. As someone who works in healthcare, with many oncology and chronic pain condition patients, I totally feel what Nick is saying about being upfront, finding the balance between positivity/faith and reality, and witnessing the incredible strength and resilience of people. I loved the comment Nick made that finding your career or your path is about what you're willing to take on. My niece is alive today after a three year battle with cancer because of amazing doctors like Nick, and that is what inspired me to move in the direction I have, and continues to inspire me everyday. I think we all help each other heal, and possibly save lives, no matter what we do. We all have purpose, even when we don't see it. I'm someone who also has CPTSD, and you portraying that aspect of the Punisher so well helped me to feel seen in ways I've felt invisible for years, which is so damn important. It starts greater conversations, just like you're doing with this podcast series. At the end of the day, people just need a connection to help them feel seen, and real conversations is a huge part of that. Keep it up, man, you're inspiring so many. Big love
This was an incredible conversation. I am a cancer survivor, I have been a caregiver through my 2 best friends' cancer deaths, and I am a social work researcher who works with cancer and life-limiting disease. And this is the best conversation I've heard about the narrative of working in healthcare, working in oncology, and the state of healthcare in the US that I've heard. I'm sending it to all my research colleagues. People ask me all the time why and how I can surround myself in cancer and still function, and I have a hard time explaining that it's a gratifying honor. But Nick - you explain that so well. We cancer survivors are the most grateful human beings you will ever meet. We know gratitude in a way others have no idea about. Looking forward to ASCO for my yearly dose of hope.
I love what Jon Bernthal said about being tired of listening to experts and celebrities talk about things that they have no experience with, and that's one reason he wanted to start this podcast. I feel the same way. He mentioned that he is worried about being one of those celebrities, and he definitely is not. He gives real people a place to talk and share their experiences. He lets them talk and lead the conversation. That alone differentiates him from the rest.

It was refreshing to really hear your experiences and to be honest you were saying a lot of metaphorical stuff so I’m still processing 😂 but thank you for doing what you do and being intentional and genuinely helping people. I think that’s so awesome and just seeing someone be vulnerable and loving what they do, like actually loving it. Again, its refreshing. They both are great Human beings Jon and Nick. They remind me of something from my past. I chopped my forearm off on a window. It was surgically reattached but the pain was terrible after. I went to see a psychologist that worked in Oncology. She hypnotized me over a few months twice a week sessions to change the pain into energy that I can use. The humming and buzzing pins and needles crushing hand pain became a force. I got a job shortly after and used the energy to protect a place and the people there from crime. I cleared it all up. Best guest, you look so alike too! Going thru Cancer myself, so thankful to dudes like ur bro john, what a guy. So many tough guys you've had on, but ur bro is mentally tougher then all of those dudes to do what he does day in and day out for years. Peace and love man
Nick Bernthal, it was a pleasure to listen to your thoughts and ideas for 1 hour 9 minutes and 31 seconds....I feel as a layman I learned something today, some things were over my head I had to rewind to understand haha but thank you. Jon, thanks for this podcast...so powerful and gave me the opportunity to listen to a wonderful human being. And I love how you opened your heart about life and you just spilled it out in real sincerity, takes guts to do that. Probably one of the best videos I've made the time to watch on TH-cam.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked on this video, I have to say this is one of my favourites so far. Watching the two of you together was awesome, two smart compassionate men speaking their truth from the heart. Very refreshing, thank you! ♥
I was genuinely moved when Nick was telling the story of the young girl that had to have her arm removed. Perspective really matters when it comes to going through hardships in life, and I can’t begin to know what that girl went through. What an incredibly tough human being! Keep on with these awesome episodes and discussions Jon man, I get so much out of listening to these. Nothing but love from the UK 🙏🏻
I've just recently found your videos and I find them incredible. These conversations are so genuine that I don't even think about who you are or whether I know anything about your guests. I see people talking about real things, having real opinions, sharing experiences in such vulnerable ways. Just humans talking things through. I love what you're doing and thank you for sharing these chats. Very cool
I love this cause this is like the nerd brother grew up and because super successful but the problem child ALSO became a successful adult. So they just look at each other with real love and big bro is so proud. These kinds of story’s are so great cause a lot of the time it doesn’t end up this way.
And before I graduated i lost a friend named adam.. he was at my house the night before, stepped in dog shit and his shoes are buried in my yard till this day
Love this conversation. Really interesting and informative. I got teary eye when Nick talked about the teenage girl getting her arm amputated. I work in the medical field with newborns all the way elderly patients. I understand how it’s not easy to find the equal between being realistic/straightforward while being hopeful/positive. But so worth it when you see someone who you thought wouldn’t make it do. I remember a cancer patient (who eventually got a cancer induced stoke). I had taken care of them a few times. Really healthy guy, loved rock climbing, biking, and more. Life changed quick. It was harder since it was in the height of the covid pandemic so it was very isolating for them too. They were at the hospitals for months and were very sick and physically weak and had to fight an infection while receiving cancer treatment. But man, they were strong. They worked hard and were resilient. Got up with PT and eventually was able to walk. And when I saw them stand up for the first time on the lift with physical therapy, I just was inspired. A completely bed rest person that went from that to standing up. People are really stronger than what some may think. On the day they were going home, the whole staff applauded and cheered him on. Beat cancer and recovered from a stoke and fought a bad infection. What a total badass. It makes the job worth it for sure. You win some you lose some but it’s all about giving it your all in the next, just as Nick said. I really enjoyed this podcast episode and look forward to more. Jon is totally awesome for starting this podcast up. Really was an authentic conversation I feel. And for Nick to come on and talk about his work was very eye opening.
As someone who has had numerous health issues, I watch Nick and I wish my doctors were like him. Watching this and listening to how open he is, amazing. Another amazing episode!
If you want to see real human strength, go to a cancer ward. I watched my dad fight through 12 years of bitter cancer battles when I was a child and to this day he is still the stronger person I’ve ever known. Fighting for your life like that brings out strength you didn’t even know you had.
I don't think I would have that kind of strength to visit those wonderful kids I would cry nonstop well kudos to you and your dad and I hope all is well.
im very happy with the fact you guys grounded to earth and have a great take on life. it makes me mad when people use masculinity and patriotism to divide people and use it and an excuse to hurt others. i think you guys are a great example of how americans should be , helpful , empathetic , caring ,loving and strong
Jon I want to say that you are a good person for supporting your brother and I love that you can do that in front of the world. You are a good person and I'm sure that for whatever happened between you two you were there for eachother as brothers in the best way you knew and could have!
I'm so impressed by how intelligent, balanced, and honest this conversation is. We are all seemingly forced into completely polarized sides these days, it's refreshing to see genuine compassion and non-biased thought go into topics like these.
Dude, I LOVE that you’re in the podcast world. Your story from where you were and where you are right now is pretty bad ass. I’ve seen every episode so far and will continue to. Keep it up brotha! You and I have a pretty similar story, I can relate to you. Best of luck.
This is such a proud and enlightening conversation. You are remarkable men and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to this episode. Thank you.
Hearing how Jon grew up makes things so clear, he really is a cultured guy who knows integrity when he sees it and is an honorable and truly good man. I know he had some issues like we all do, but he had the tools to mature and learn from those mistakes. Big respect to him.
This dude has been my favorite actor since Walking Dead Season 1! It came out my first year out of the Army. And he reminds so much of my friends at home & my friends in the Army! Love this dudes energy!
WOW! Nick is a real deal hero! What an amazing thinker, speaker, doctor and all around BADASS human! I've had family member with terminal cancer and I would have been honored and humbled to entrust their care with a doctor like Nick! Thanks for this Jon, what an amazing family you have. Not gonna lie I'm sitting here crying right now ❤ RIP "Baby Jane" 🙏
It sounds kinda crazy but when Nick is discussing medical issues and the real world sacrifices his patients are challenged with, a comedy show like scrubs hit on the same topics and the same emotions of the doctor and patient. You never know how that works because such realistic discussions aren't made and most people see a doctor in an emergency and then never think twice once they leave. His open and frank discussion of those dynamic is enlightening in ways rarely seen or heard so thanks for this.
Love these guys so human. I'm going through a lot in my life right now with loss and my health problems thank you for these videos makes me see things in other perspectives
So many good takeaways from this episode! When Nick spoke about culture and how we’ve developed a society that thinks something is wrong if you feel pain - Damn! That hit home; struggles (physical or emotional) are a part of every human life. Jon - You are doing such great work with this podcast. Keep bringing us people from all walks of life and thank you 🙏🏽 ✌🏽
I can't believe I just found out about your channel. Finding authenticity in a person isn't hard. Assholes, liars, and fakes can't help but expose themselves. So seeing real people share real stories and experiences fills my heart. You chose the right name for your cast. As a person that see someone on screen portraying characters, you become a fan and create a bit of an attachment to that actor or person on screen. It makes it even sweeter when that person turns out to be a genuine soul off screen. So I'll continue to follow homeboy. Keep doing what you do. I've heard you talk about your brother in interviews and I love that you had him on the cast. It's all love and I dig it with a shovel. PEACE...
I'm glad this was before Patreon. I can't imagine us regular people missing this wonderful dynamic between these 2 men and brothers. 💕 so relatable. Lol snd authentic.
This was really dope - even a bigger fan of Bernthal now. Also, its good - for me nostalgic - to see the bond between brothers. Don’t let that light dim as you get older - nurture it with respect, love and mutual admiration.
Man I’m so glad he had his brother on what a great conversation. I had no clue his family was so intelligent. I thought he cam from like a rough back ground. That is just how he comes off as this tough guy. Wow was I wrong
These are the type of brothers who went through some shit. They might have had a great family but they seen some awful shit growing up. I give them credit for going through all that crap and actually being able to succeed in life like they have. New subscriber here.
Nick is a very intelligent man. These are the type of people that should be running our country. Open to both sides of politics and smart enough to understand what’s important no matter what policy or party mandates. Great interview.
Wow, this podcast and discussion was powerful, insightful and inspiring. Nick, you are truly a special person, and I can see how deeply you care for other human beings and the connections formed with them. Your patients are lucky to have you.
Love it. I felt a lot of what you mentioned growing up in our unique/diverse upbringing of DMV (DC/MD/VA) where ideas, character, reflection, action and heart were more important than today's superficial and gross value metric of wealth, social status, influence and lots of talk/little action. Love to see you guys keeping it real and representing DC as well as you do.
He probably doesn’t have the time but I would seriously encourage Nick to start a podcast. What an incredibly interesting person. Could listen to him talk all day.
the part where nick talks about his patients especially how strong they really are despite being so young reminds me of this one photo i saw on twitter of a kid with terminal illness going to a beach for the first and the last time in his life which was his dream and he got to spend it with family. i remember the way he smiled so brightly and i cried so fucking hard over this one photo. it just makes me realize how kids are so amazing, their heart is full of purity and courage. so when nick brings up his stories dealing with the children and their family i get a little teary ngl. nick, you are so so amazing and thank u for sharing your stories to us with such compassionate and insightful perspectives! and thank u jon for hosting such an amazing conversation. looking forward to the next episode. much love from thailand ❤️

Bro I just started watching this podcast because of the Richard Cabral interview which was too real and something I enjoyed watching because I have family members like that and him using his past to kind of push his future and make something of himself was inspiring. Your brother is super interesting, crazy how brothers can be so different, yet the same.
Wow John your brother is a true hero man.. I have so much respect for these minds that can do surgeries and maintain a focus like that is so amazing to me
This was heartbreaking and affirming and I hope it sparks action in all of us. Thank you for your continue work and bravery, and for sharing with honesty, both of you!
Real talk ever since I saw you in a movie I was impressed and somehow can see a good vibe about you. Seeing you and your brother being Real it’s absolutely A Great Vibe!
I LOVE THIS ONE. it's 7 a.m. in windsor ontario and I'm about to go to work in Healthcare.. for for now I'm sitting here with my dog on my lap having a moment to appreciate the calm before the storm, and this was such a great podcast to listen to first.
The letting people stay in your house when they had nothing or whatever the case may be also happened at our house. This is awesome dialogue with amazing ppl. Keep it up.
Man this video hits home all too well. My grandpa and uncle passed around two years ago and the situation Jon's brother was in was the same situation my mother was in. She had to tell my grandmother that my grandpa had stage 4 cancer and he wasn't going to make it. She had to handle all of the doctors and the paperwork and the craziness of that situation and every single day I put myself in her shoes. And man I really respect Jon's brother for the way he says things to his patients. We practically had to force the words "your grandfather has cancer or your dad has cancer" out of the doctors mouth and that fuckin hurt man. Badly. I would always put myself in my grandpa's shoes and it really sort of did me in and screwed with my own mind. I've been messed up ever since physically and mentally. Cancer destroys a lot of families. It is a rough experience I do not wish on anyone. I pray that those who have it continue to be able to live long lives and that they recover.
This was fun and entertaining. Jon you’re awesome and your bro is a total badass. We all need to work together and figure this shit out. The division won’t do anything for us as a country
There is a third brother, who was a TV producer, and just married the COO of Facebook who is a billionaire. Their dad is a super high-level attorney in Washington DC.
I’m new to this podcast and started w/your Shia Labeouf convo. These conversations are so organic, brave, meaningful, & relevant. After each episode, I walk away something…knowledge, inspiration, and/or hope. 📿⚡️ 🙏
This is the one person I would love to meet and hangout with. Not even because he is a famous actor but because hes a genuine amazing human have always love him as an actor just makes me realize why because he's so down to earth how can you not like him and respect him. God bless enjoy life love live spread happiness and good times. 👍
Wow, really love this interview, the topics you are discussing with your brother Nick are right on the mark. Talking straight, going from politics to cancer, giving a true discussion about medicine in the US. Balance between innovation and equality, also the materialistic, capitalism all about the money and not about bringing up or inspiring society. Thank you so much!!
I admire doctors who do show they too are human and have normal lives just like us. I need the personal connection. I find it easier to work with doctors who are relatable. Wow, your brother is DOPE!!! Love his heart!!!

The respect between u both is AMAZING but the HILARIOUS part is the brotherly relationship pops out now n then.
Thank you ❤❤❤
Nick Bernthal, it was a pleasure to listen to your thoughts and ideas for 1 hour 9 minutes and 31 seconds....I feel as a layman I learned something today, some things were over my head I had to rewind to understand haha but thank you. Jon, thanks for this podcast...so powerful and gave me the opportunity to listen to a wonderful human being. And I love how you opened your heart about life and you just spilled it out in real sincerity, takes guts to do that. Probably one of the best videos I've made the time to watch on TH-cam.
Your brother has been blessed with a mind to help people on a different level…nothing but positive energy 🤙🏽
DC born and raised…your depiction of the city and the diverse perspectives gained from growing up here are spot on. Keep up the awesome work!
You and your Brother are sooooo AWESOME.....I'm crying like a baby!!!
Always a pleasure working with Dr. Bernthal In the OR.
As a twin and a big brother this conversation was amazing … especially when lil bro was explaining the “tree” method from bones to real life was 👌
And before I graduated i lost a friend named adam.. he was at my house the night before, stepped in dog shit and his shoes are buried in my yard till this day
Love this conversation.
You have gotta be one of the most genuine actors out there. Thank you sir!
If you want to see real human strength, go to a cancer ward. I watched my dad fight through 12 years of bitter cancer battles when I was a child and to this day he is still the stronger person I’ve ever known. Fighting for your life like that brings out strength you didn’t even know you had.
❤️
I don't think I would have that kind of strength to visit those wonderful kids I would cry nonstop well kudos to you and your dad and I hope all is well.
i hope he made it through and is still with you. if not, i’m happy you got to share your time with such a strong person
im very happy with the fact you guys grounded to earth and have a great take on life. it makes me mad when people use masculinity and patriotism to divide people and use it and an excuse to hurt others. i think you guys are a great example of how americans should be , helpful , empathetic , caring ,loving and strong
this is one of the most informative podcasts ive ever HEARD IN MY LIFE JON AND NICK YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST
This podcast was one of the best I've ever seen. I love these two real humans.
I'm hooked on these podcasts. Interesting convos with a relaxed environment.
I can't add much besides saying your brother is an amazing smart, down to earth person with his heart on the right place.
That is one Bad ass man seems like a good soul keep helping the cancer patients bro! thank you
Glad to see a genuine and honest doctor…
This dude has been my favorite actor since Walking Dead Season 1! It came out my first year out of the Army. And he reminds so much of my friends at home & my friends in the Army! Love this dudes energy!
WOW! Nick is a real deal hero! What an amazing thinker, speaker, doctor and all around BADASS human! I've had family member with terminal cancer and I would have been honored and humbled to entrust their care with a doctor like Nick! Thanks for this Jon, what an amazing family you have. Not gonna lie I'm sitting here crying right now ❤
RIP "Baby Jane" 🙏
Keep bringing us people from all walks of life and thank you 🙏🏽 ✌🏽
Professor Jonathan Haidt's work on anti-fragility came to mind with the palm tree metaphor. Nick made a great point with that. Solid interview.
PEACE...
By far Jon Bernthal is one of my favorite actors of all time. His range, his presence on screen is out of this world.
I was just glued to this cast, Nick is incredibly captivating.
Thoroughly enjoyed this convo……much respect to both of these men. Mad love ✌️
Jon is the best. This pod is going to take off. Wish the content was more frequent. Great actor. Better person
Glad to see a bond like this between two brothers
He probably doesn’t have the time but I would seriously encourage Nick to start a podcast. What an incredibly interesting person. Could listen to him talk all day.
the part where nick talks about his patients especially how strong they really are despite being so young reminds me of this one photo i saw on twitter of a kid with terminal illness going to a beach for the first and the last time in his life which was his dream and he got to spend it with family. i remember the way he smiled so brightly and i cried so fucking hard over this one photo. it just makes me realize how kids are so amazing, their heart is full of purity and courage. so when nick brings up his stories dealing with the children and their family i get a little teary ngl. nick, you are so so amazing and thank u for sharing your stories to us with such compassionate and insightful perspectives! and thank u jon for hosting such an amazing conversation. looking forward to the next episode.
much love from thailand ❤️
what an amazing interview/discussion. we need more Nick on here.
So happy you started your own podcast, been hooked on your content since the first epi. of walking dead. Always knew you had your head on straight and are a good dude. Fastest subscribe I’ve had in a while! Keep up the work big dawg
Jon is my favorite actor, I'm a fan from Brazil, keep up the great work! May the Almighty God bless you and keep you!!
This is like the most educational podcast episode I’ve ever seen from anyone ever
Bro I just started watching this podcast because of the Richard Cabral interview which was too real and something I enjoyed watching because I have family members like that and him using his past to kind of push his future and make something of himself was inspiring. Your brother is super interesting, crazy how brothers can be so different, yet the same.
It’s safe to say Nick is the nerdy and cute version of Jon. ❤️
As a South African, it's great to hear Nick's perspective. We're in a tough place still, and I fear we will be for quite some time to come. Amandla.
Keep it up.
20:12 love how the dog is just chilling on his bed but his ear is still up listening. Just like all of us haha
This episode broke me in half man. My fiance had a radical hysterectomy. Brought some of it back. These two dudes being brothers is really special. ☝️
really glad this popped up on my feed, what an incredible conversation man.
That m'fing palm tree analogy was so good. You guys must have great parents!
I didn't know what to expect from this convo, but I'm glad I tuned in.
Reals ones for sure.
This was fun and entertaining. Jon you’re awesome and your bro is a total badass. We all need to work together and figure this shit out. The division won’t do anything for us as a country
Jon’s the man. A movie star and an high level Oncology surgeon in one family, that’s crazy. Also some good insight on Covid
Love the podcast. Thanks for not having 6 people on together talking over each other. Rare in podcasts these days.
This is the one person I would love to meet and hangout with. Not even because he is a famous actor but because hes a genuine amazing human have always love him as an actor just makes me realize why because he's so down to earth how can you not like him and respect him. God bless enjoy life love live spread happiness and good times. 👍
Love the pace of this podcast. I usually can’t get into them bc everyone is talking at once. I enjoyed the dialogue here.
I pray we are seeing a shift in awareness. I hope this will bring unity. I have faith in us.
Nick is inspiring AF, was crying at some points. Damn
I admire doctors who do show they too are human and have normal lives just like us. I need the personal connection. I find it easier to work with doctors who are relatable. Wow, your brother is DOPE!!! Love his heart!!!
