    As someone who has several R/C helis but has never had a "proper" transmitter this has proved to be a real eye opener.Many thanks for your concise but brilliantly informative video.This is how you do a TH-cam educational video - well done, mate.

    Subscribed because you were easy to understand and not annoying by taking forever like many videos do. It was a great pace and well explained. Good job.

    I Know I'm late to the party but just wanted to say: Thanks so much for going to this level of detail. Brilliant Video and inspired me to get a 7e and look at the multiprotocol boards. Helps people at the lower end of the budget who are trying to avoid buying a Taranis! Excellent stuff. Keep it up mate.

    Incredible and awesome how far affordable transmitters have come since then, hey? I got a Devo10 and did the 4-in-1 mod with DeviationTx firmware June of 2016 because there were just NO other options out there (that I was aware of) that could do anything even remotely close to what DeviationTx could do. I know it's time to look seriously at an upgrade to a current Tx, but for now my daily driver is still my modified and flashed Devo10 and it hasn't let me down yet. :)

    Absolutely fantastic video! I'm buying a 7E right now just to try this all out. You did an amazing job compiling the information necessary for someone like me (with a decent knowledge of electronics) to give this a go without feeling too intimidated. I can't wait to see the results... thanks again!

      Yessir, thanks Alan. I ended up buying the Usmile 3-in-1 module the same time I ordered the Devo 7E. The 7E arrived a couple days ago and I had no problems installing Deviation on it. I haven't found any good instructions for installing the 3-in-1; I'm hoping it comes with them. Anyway, it arrives today so I've got myself a nice weekend project to try this all out!

    Great video Andy! You always hit the marks.
    I've done the diode mod, removing the SMD diode from the stock module and replacing it with a teeny tiny jumper wire and yeah it's fiddly.
    I've added the additional modules, antenna connectors and added the switches too, though I have to admit that I'll have to grow into the additional capabilities the switches bring. I even made the mistake of using an old diagram for my A7105 module and had to re-do it using the same online resources you used.
    Gotta admit to my goof but I re-worked it and it's great now!
    Adding the hardware was the easy part for me as I've been a hardware hacker for quite a while and have soldered for decades. (and re-soldered sometimes too DOH!)
    I have TH-camr Frequent Flyer RC to thank for planting the seeds and helping me with the Deviation software on my Devo 7e.
    I love the JST connector for use with the amp and I believe I will be stealing that idea! (TYVM) I may use a relay to slave it to the power switch and possibly a fuse for a little protection as I simply cannot resist over-complicating things. (wanna-be engineer I guess)
    I flew at an RC flying field yesterday and showing up with a modded Devo 7e seemed to help quite a bit as a conversation piece. Hard not to notice 3 antennas I guess. LOL
    I'm too long winded sorry.

      +Michael Thompson Hey Michael thanks for your comment. I always wondered if people in clubs were dong this sort of thing. i guess not :) I have soldered for years but my shaky hands get the better of me lol. yes i didnt add the other switches for that reason. that and the also because the other buttons can also be programmed to trigger as a switch. cheers.

      Andy they are, it was just a sign that I'm into this stuff and was easy to talk about. Heck those guys were running much nicer radios. Devo 10s and 12s and other stuff I didn't get to see up close.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah nice! well good to know :) another reason I didnt go for the more expensive models is due to the fact I have the taranis for my bigger stuff. and also it was a lot of money to spend if I screwed it up! I think doing it a second time (without filming it) would be much easier. cheers!

    Hi Andy,
    I’m new to the RACING world., but not new to drones. I’ve had a number of different GPPS hobby drones, including the DJI consumer drones, and still own a few of the DJI ones. I’ve decided to try out the racing FPV world, but I find it a bit overwhelming. To start me off, I purchased the Walkera F210 with the Devo 7 Transmitter. I have a very simple question; what receivers do I need for me to connect to other racing drones with the Devo transmitter? Also, which universal receiver do you recommend for connecting to most of the small and mid size racing quads like the F210?
    Many thanks,
    Sam

    I have a divo 7 that came with my rodeo 110. I find it's not to hard to fly out of range while still having video reception. do you think there is something wrong with it or is that just the way it is? I don't think there is any way to range test it by reducing it's output, only by flying it out of range which seems to be 3 or 4 hundred yards in an open field.
    I have seen a spectrum go over a mile, shouldn't the devo 7 do the same?

    I have a Devo 7 and I was wondering I recently bought a eachine eb185 quad. And it uses DSM, ppm. Ibus. And if I'm correct the Devo seven is PWM and the squad has to have some type of connector to get it to read the receiver. Would I be able to use the Devo seven controller and binded with a receiver that is PPM/ibus so that the quad copter reads the receiver Will the Devo seven bind with any receiver as they say it will?

    Hello! Great videos Andy! I bought QX90C with DSM2 and Devo 7e and I can
    not bind them! Please help! I did upload all the deviation firmware
    like your video for Devo shows but nothing.The only differance from your
    devo video is when I turn on the Devo 7e transmitter then on the
    screen it writes: "Missing modules: A7105..." (and in your video is some
    other module missing.) Is that the problem? I did made a new model in
    transmitter menu and I did put DSM2 protocol and when I press bind
    nothing happens. Please help if you can? Thank you in advance!

    I have an AR 2.0 drone that I want to fly with an RC. Purchase stock DEVO 7E. Have upgraded firmware to Deviation 5.0 first, but did not copy the files over via USB because I received a Hack set of files from the person I purchase the RX from. It comes with similar folder and a tx.ini file like Deviation. I was instructed to use the USB and copy those over to the Devo after formatting. When I try to boot up the DEVO 7E screen comes up with a Protocol Mismatch 8101fc6c and 0801f560. Any ideas? Would like to communicate with you about it if you have any thoughts on how to correct this. Many thanks in advance

    Hi Andy, I have a real problem. I built a Q450 X type Quadcopter, but i don't seem to be able to power any reciever i put on it. I can get all esc's and motors working using the open pilot software(i tried two different cc3d's) Also i got both recievers working seperately with a servo. Friends think there isn't enough power getting to the reciever. I used a multimeter to measure voltage on the cc3d pins where the esc's attach, and also measured current actually from the reciever pins, got measurements on both, but haven't a clue what i'm doing lol. it's such a pity, as it's completely built, i even bought two flysky transmitters!

    Andy, when you bind Devo 7E to, for example Hubsan X4. Can you still dial in the rates as you wish? Or is it just one rate on the 7E? The same with JJRC 1000, it has 4 rates (40,60,80,100) with its own transmitter. Can you do the same with Devo 7E?

    • @AndyRCchannel

    Welcome to the vip club LOL. I just joined it my self this weekend with the NRF module. I actually installed it a month a go but I just got error of missing module, I had to order another one to be sure it was not the module the problem. It was the modules problem and with the new one didn't get the error. maybe the first one was DOA or I killed it trying to take out the pins it comes with. For the new one I didn't take the pins so I could test my soldering installation and be sure the new module was working. Now I want to add the A7105 chip and I was trying to fin information about how to connect the new antenna to it instead the one it comes with so happy to see you show this. But is th length of the antenna important? I thinks so right? or not? Second question why you added the wifi booster? it will amplify only the main module? but why you need it? Thanks for this video it will help many people.

    Um..... WOW. Well done. Any idea of range, should we expect the same as the standard transmitters?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gavin Powell yes same as standard transmitters. hopefully a couple of k with the wifi booster

    • @gavinpowell8538
      @gavinpowell8538 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the Wi Fi booster, i assume its 2.4? Can this be used on any transmitter to improve the range? If there were other people flying next to you could it interfere with there transmitter? What is your standard range compared to your 2k your hoping for? 😆

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gavin Powell yes it can be used on any transmitter I should imagine the stock range to be about 1 kilometre but this is untested yet

    what receivers do you sugest that I should get when I order my Devo7E because they came without Receiver and I wanted the smaller choise possible. I also notice that devo 7E doesnt has the possibility of putting modules at the back, right? like this example www.banggood.com/FrSky-2_4G-8CH-DFT-Transmitter-Module-With-V8FR-II-Receiver-Combo-p-1008352.html
    Take care and keep up the great work.

    What receiver would you recommend for a 250 build, if I'm planning to use with the devo 7e?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      if it's a non modified devo 7e I wouldn't use it for a 250 as it only outputs 10mw of power. not enough range for a 250

    • @roobidesign
      @roobidesign 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AndyRC the antennas and the NRF chip are on the way. I'm planning to do the range extend mod. Which mod would you suggest?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Kovacs if you intend to use it with a miniquad then I would suggest getting the frsky module fitted to the Devo so u can use the frsky x4r. its the most popular receiver . other than that for a miniquad to use with the devo range mod get a dsmx receiver. dsmx hops more times than dsm2

    • @paulgriffitts7303
      @paulgriffitts7303 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +magaiver yes you can actually buy modules for the taranis and you just plug it into the panel on the back. If you turn over your taranis there is a panel like a battery door just open that up and you can plug in the module there. It will make the FrSky protocol unusable until you remove the module. You can buy modules for pretty much any frequency and plug it in. BUT....there is some latency which is never good but its not crippling, but when racing or flying acro it might cause an issue here and there but i'm sure you won't notice it most of the time.

    The mods I found no issue with but after 2 years I still can't confidently program the advanced mixers and it's always a total hassle if the simple mode isn't enough such as dji 3 way switch etc. It's shame you grabbed the 7e though, I get it's a bargain and accessible for many but the advanced mixers are laid out very differently to the full size 8s and 12s and i'd kill for some clear tutorials on that from you.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AndyRC There was a poll recently by the deviation crew asking what direction to take the 7e in too. It's kinda run out of memory they added so much so it must be dropped or a different fork be made which is more likely.
      8S, 10 and 12s have plenty scope for adding features, protocols etc.
      It's still a bargain but i'd want to know this if I was thinking about buying a deviation compatible tx

    I just spent about 3 hours trying to get this to work and I can't get it to work for some reason. Basically what keeps happening is when I try to install the new firmware, the software won't let me install it. Half the time it doesn't display anything as connected, then after fiddling around trying to get the driver for the tx to install, it will finally show up. Then the software just freezes. I tried pretty much every version of the firmware and Dfuse I could find, and all of them do the same thing. I will probably have to try it on a different computer and see if something is off, I am running Windows 10 so maybe that's the issue. I fiddled with it a bit more and it keeps giving me the message "unable to get DFU Descriptor.... Bad firmware"
