One of the few men that was part of WWE that punk legit had love for and kept in contact with during his leave from the company.
and AJ was close with Big E, infact Punk and her had E over to their place when WWE was in Chicago a few years ago

He's a midcarder at best. He never has had a good gimmick and he's the least charismatic, smallest looking guy in The New Day. Not saying he's bad, but people act like he's been this top elite wrestler all this time. The only time he got support for a main title run was after his Elimination Chamber performance and the fact that the crowd loves the underdog story. Nobody was clamoring for him to win the rumble. It was the EC.
Great wrestler but he is better off as a Tag Champ, that said the moment he won the world title was awesome

Well, there were two world titles back then. And if I am not wrong when Kofi got his #1 contender match for WWE Championship against Orton, Punk was feuding with Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Title on Smackdown. So they could have been champions at the same time.

Yes I disagree with a comedy act getting a world title run but Kofi had more then enough success in his solo career to make up for it. He was booked strong and as a fighting champion during his run, even going over after Randy who cost him a main event run all those years ago. Storytelling wise, that was fantastic and really showed faith from management in him. Also guy had been busting his ass for 10+ years now and is part of one the most over acts right now. Love him or hate him, agree or disagree, Kofi deserved it and was one of the few to be able to take the ball and run with it

The best thing about kofi's title win was it didn't happen last year so it felt more organic. Daniel being the antagonist was perfect, considering he was in kofi's spot so it was full circle for him as well.
It was technically 17 years in thr making, so it was really great when he snagged it

He was always a bridesmaid, but never a BRIDE. It was typecasting in WWE. And he was a performer who couldn't break out of the mid-card role

I've met a few people who have worked with Kofi, even if just for a short time, and all of them said he was a great dude, super nice, super respectful.
Even though his title run was booked as an afterthought, the moment of him winning was the main highlight of that wrestlemania.

The term "shoot" is so overused now. Every time a wrestler opens their mouth and isn't parroting the script it's a shoot. It's a part of the larger issue that fans care way, way too much about the booking side and not enough about the fact that it's a weekly episodic television show no different to mandalorian or anything else.

I think the titles get dropped so often that when anyone gets it they're not going to be holding it long. Anytime a part timer like Goldberg decides he wants to put himself over and squash the young guys he usually gets it and obviously he's going to drop it not long after because he's only working a few matches a year

Was Cena right? One would almost say so. But it will be interesting to see how Punk's image will develop over the coming months. Will he be seen as a sellout by those who used to buy into his "voice of the voiceless" shtick or will he be able to retain some appearance of authenticity? Is he going to turn heel? etc.
I think Punk meant everything he said when he said it. I just think it's a simple reality that times change, he grew, and everyone changed. Including WWE. Those changes allowed potential for reconciliation. He didn't "sell out" he grew up.

Kofi was one of the most unbelievable, unconvincing champions of all time and it shows one of the problems with modern WWE. He basically won the title because he's been around a long time and has been a good hand and he's a nice guy. That's not how the business works. The belts are worth nothing when everyone wins them and is supposedly deserving of them just by default. It's like how they are presenting Belair as a contender and likely next champion because 'she is nice and works hard'. No shit - the vast majority of the roster are nice and work hard. I'm not saying she shouldn't be the contender because you have a handful of performers you could build to fill that role, but that's seriously the way they're going to do it? What's wrong with angling it that 'at this moment in time, she is the best women's wrestler in the world' or what have you? and if that isn't true, maybe they're not the right person.
Just look at the Attitude Era - From 1997 to 2001, name one person who was world champion who wasn't a legitimate top talent who deserved to win? Rock, HHH, Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Brett Hart, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle. All of them are amongst the biggest names in the history of the business. No one was thrown a bone. At most you might say they threw Foley the opportunity, but this is also Foley who was in one of the top 5, top 10, what have you, matches of all time in Hell in a Cell. Bona fide star.
