@@Mike14264it doesn’t, sadly. Someone did a deep dive into the code and there’s no such mechanic in the game. Jekyll’s cane can only be used on the bees to my knowledge and to intentionally increase his stress metre by attacking the townspeople
Came here because the latest AVGN episode because the Nerd had to play the japanese version as well as the American to rid his curse with both versions of the game.
There is actually a supposed reason you kinda have to decipher deriving information from the manual: From the world of demons, Letule is the big baddy demon wanting to invade the world and it is he who has possessed the townsfolk to destroy Hyde that is hiding inside Jekyll as he is a threat to his world and his domination plans. It was likely he is the only one in the story who knew Jekyll and Hyde was part of one and the same. I feel like the writer of the game presumed people should just know this is implied what demons do, that they possess people to do their bidding. I am also theorizing the demons can only manifest themselves in the “real world” via possessing people.
actually, if you pay attention, very few people are DELIBERATELY antagonizing Jekyll. townspeople walk right by unless they panic over a friken bomb, and most "attacks" are just people doing things, like practicing their awful singing, or throwing things at someone else and Jekyll is just caught in the crossfire.
The only people genuinely out to hurt Jekyll are the Bomb Manic and Billy Pones. The rest of the townspeople walk right past him and ignore him, except for whenever a bomb maniac appears on screen, at which point they scramble to run away and can bump into and damage Jekyll then. Everything else is just sheer bad luck or force of nature (Bird shit, animals getting worked up, barrels, etc)
Thank you for completing and filming this game, so that others don't have to.
Good to know the bomb is as random in both versions. If there ever was the definition of half assing development of game, this is it.
Apparently, according to the TV Tropes page, the cane can defuse the fuses of the bombs.
I have never had trouble with the bombs, ever. I just walk and jump the second the second they go off. I’ve never been sucked back into the explosion.

favorite video game of all time
Why does Jekyll go into a door at 3:20 and get coins? Is he pimping his ass out?
Idk
Zelda 2 moment :p
No, the woman waving is actually someone who restores your health, meter and gives you coins. She is the only one helpful in the game
To think, all pof this could have been avoided if Jekyll had just hired a cab

You’re probably not gonna answer this, but how much suffering did you go through when playing this?
A lot.
Found the game. Look up Houma ga Toki. It's on the web.
The sprite work in this game is awesome. It's a real shame that the game itself is terrible. I'd love to see a balancing romhack for this.
Oh my god level 1 is completely different

Well, you certainly seem to understand this game more than James did.

Is it true that this game is a Kusoge?
It seems like many Japanese do refer to it as
Jeez. I was getting frustrated just watching you play
