I paused that Dark episode and saved this song to watch later. Here I am, finished the season and the first thing I have to do now is listen to this on repeat.
" The ways of heart cannot be explained. It does what it wants." Hello to everyone who came from Dark. We are now connected by a song, a story. Love Life, Spread Love before the thread is severed.
Asaf told the story behind it and he explains, “Theseus the hero, one of the four great heroes going to slay the minotaur inside the Labyrinth and Ariadne the princess helping him by giving him a ball of yarn so he would tie it to the entrance and find his way out again after he defeated the beast. I often wondered what would happen if he didn’t take that ball of yarn. If he was too proud, too broken…too me…to except that gift…too suspecting. He would be stuck there…hearing her footsteps as she dances above that Labyrinth waiting for him.” what makes the song so moving is the way the chorus progresses. It doesn’t repeat but it builds. He starts with, “Oh Ariadne, I am coming, I just need to work this maze inside my head.” Then, he changes it from “inside my head” to “inside my mind” to “inside my heart” and as he goes through the song the character slowly gives up. He abandons Ariadne. That’s what makes it so sad. He isn’t the triumphant hero, he was too proud to accept her help and has to live forever with his mistake. Oh Ariadne, I was coming, but I failed you in this labyrinth of my past Oh Ariadne, let me sing you, and we’ll make each other last
Now I have figured out that in reality he took the ball but this song is an alternate story abt what if he didn't took the ball , what would have happened and the consequences. It's from the POV of Theseus!!
Agreed, I'm here cause of Dark too, the scene where this song was introduced was mind blowing, amazing, it fitted perfectly and the song is so beautiful, melancholic and touching.
I cannot listen to this song without crying. Like, ever. The emotion is so terribly raw, and the musician is laying himself completely naked before our eyes. I love how under produced it is, and Avidan allows us to hear the breaks in his voice, and the holes in his soul. This song is a gift, and a candid glimpse of a conversation between a man and a goddess.
And I don't think there's another perfect voice for this song - or someone who can bring a listener into his world the first time- every time. This man is an angel - you can hear the pain he carries in his voice : its his gift to us.
I was typing a comment and deleted it - abd then I found your comment and I then so fel lt compelled to share it. Thanks. You described "holes in his soul" by far better than I, though! Continue using your words as your voice and tool!

Oh my... Oh man... Rarely. Rarely does a song come on in the background that reaches all the way up to the foreground to emotionally grab me and pull me down and into a chair so that I can witness this sound that I wasn't paying close enough attention to. Absolutely altering. Monumentally beautiful. Thank you. The sword gets heavy for all of us. Thank you.🖤
Been in a kind of depression and finally healing after several months. Those words perfectly express what I'd have liked to tell to the person I loved and that I lost. I wanted to come back all the time, but I couldn't, I needed to work the maze inside my head first. I know I should have listened to you before and be guided by you, but I didn't. And unfortunately, despite trying, I never came back as I got stuck in the labyrinth of my past. I am crying like a baby listening to this lyrics but now they are tears of joy as I know I am finally healed and found my way out from the labyrinth. This is not just a song , this is the pain of a person who is moaning over loss of her beloved. Every time I hear to this song , it makes me feel that i'm floating over the ocean of unending grief.
Learning this story from Greek Mythology in school as a little girl always fascinated me but as a grown woman listening to this song speaking of the story of Theseus and Ariadne through the Netflix show Dark, really worked a number on me . Absolutely captivating, mesmerizing and beautiful.
If you think hard enough every line of the song relates to DARK in one way or another.. honestly this song is just too fcking perfect for the show, and the song itself is so nostalgic that I have been listening it repeatedly for last 2 days. I haven't listened to any other song except this.. 🖤
@@amargaste3833 it's more likely because of how much Dark borrows from the greek legend of Ariadne and Theseus, which this song also makes heavy reference to
Stumbled upon your song while watching Dark. Thank god I did. Something about the words, your voice and the way it makes you feel as a whole. Oh, what an experience this song is. Thank you for making this song and thank you for sharing it with the world. That's the thing about sadness/melancholy, it just sucks you in like a black hole.

I agree completely. Thats why I want to comment. He tapped into something he keeps protected, and something, or someone he trusts i think without question. Hell it looked like it was his pleasure to be singing the song. For sure man, wonderful work.
Dear Asaf, It`s a love at second sight that get`s to me. First time I saw you on german tv, I thought what the f... is that? I wonderd what voice you have ! But I was a kind of hypnotised, could not change the channel !!! Then, I could not forget about this crazy guy, I listend to. Took about two month of seeking, watching and listening in the deep ways of www, to find you again, cause I couldn`t remember your name !!! But I was successful and god thanks, I found you at last. My life is not the same no more, since I saw you at german tv, at april 28 th in 2017. I love you and the way you put your music in the hearts and souls of the people that listen to you. May god bless you, love, Angelika
This could have been on Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate. I loved Lenny's music - this is like finding a new song of his to love. But no detriment to Asaf - this is his own sound and the lyrics are amazing. Thank you for the music & poetry.
thanks Asaf Avidan for helping me to find myself, my love, my desire. It is a twisty and binds me to my self. There is a binding that makes you free and makes you see more freedom. Freedom to love and be loved. Freedom to see and by seen. Freedom to see more beauty. Beauty that's sticky and may make you feel paradoxical sick. Sick because you see where the beauty, the love, joy was not. what if you lost, had lost that beauty, then there are still the holes but i want to see where things are rather than where they where not and or will not be.
Comme c'est beau… J'ai entendu cette chanson à la radio, j'ai cru que c'était une vielle chanson de Leonard Cohen que je ne connaissais pas, une chanson de ses tout débuts, de l'époque de Songs of Leonard Cohen, Songs of Love and Hate et Songs from a Room, que j'ai écoutés et écoute encore si souvent et que j'aime tant, que j'aime peut-être plus que tout. vibrating strong as if she shouts
oh ariadne. i am coming.
i just need to work this maze inside my head
i came here like you asked
i killed the beast
that part of me is dead
oh ariadne. i just need to work this maze inside my head
if only i have listened to you
when you offered me that thread
everything is quiet and l'm not exactly sure
if it really was your voice i heard
or maybe lt is a door
that's closing up some hero's back
on his track to be a man
can it be that all us heroes have a path
but not a plan?
oh ariadne. i am coming.
i just need to work this maze inside my mind
i wish i had that string
it's so damn dark
i think i'm going blind
oh ariadne. i just need to work that maze inside my mind
for the life of me,
i don't remember what i came to find
now tell me princess.
are you strolling through your sacred grove?
and is the moon still shining?
you're the only thing i'm thinking of
the sword you gave me, it was heavy
i just had to lay it down
lt's funny how defenseless i can feel here
when there's nobody around
oh ariadne. i am coming
i just need to work this maze inside my heart
i was blind. i thought you'd bind me
but you offered me a chart
oh ariadne. i just need to work this maze inside my heart
if i'd known that you could guide me
l'd have listened from the start
somewhere up there midnight strikes
i think i hear the fall
of little drops of water
magnified against the barren wall
its more a feeling than a substance.
but there's nobody around
and when i'm in here all alone
it's just enough to let me drown
oh ariadne, i was coming
but i failed you
in this labyrinth of my past
oh ariadne, let me sing you
and we'll make each other last
oh ariadne, i have failed you
in this labyrinth of my past
oh ariadne let me sing you
and we'll make each other last
You'll go to heaven, i promise you.

What a poignant track this is, utterly bitter sweet x
And after all these years,i know my heart wanted this all along.
This is not just a song , this is the pain of a person who is moaning over loss of her beloved.
Every time I hear to this song , it makes me feel that i'm floating over the ocean of unending grief.
That voice, those words & such sadness. Killing me
How have I not heard of this guy before now? Phenomenal artist!
Learning this story from Greek Mythology in school as a little girl always fascinated me but
as a grown woman listening to this song speaking of the story of Theseus and Ariadne through the Netflix show Dark, really worked a number on me .
Absolutely captivating, mesmerizing and beautiful.
Man, you have such a soul. Thanks for making music or actually, letting out what you have inside. Hope to meet you someday. Bye man,
Gianluca
If you think hard enough every line of the song relates to DARK in one way or another..
honestly this song is just too fcking perfect for the show, and the song itself is so nostalgic that I have been listening it repeatedly for last 2 days. I haven't listened to any other song except this.. 🖤
Every word making sense for Jonas and Martha..
As if it was created for the dark..
Everything is pre-determined... He must have seen dark earlier.
Jonas*
@@amargaste3833 it's more likely because of how much Dark borrows from the greek legend of Ariadne and Theseus, which this song also makes heavy reference to
@@Spenfen You are fun at parties, aren't you?
I’m here and how good was dark I stopped instantly and listened to this non stop for the rest of the night
Dont hear many songs written like this anymore.. Been coming back to this video for a few years and always feels like the first time.
the fact that he's smiling all throughout :'))
He has sung so many beautiful songs but this is the loveliest of all of them 🌻
this song has completely consumed my mind, its constantly playing in my mind and I start singing it then end up right here listening to it on repeat for an hour. going on a roller coaster ride loving the song while drowning in the sorrow and sadness this song projects.
I don't know why, tears are coming. This song feels so sweet and I'm so alone... It makes me want a big hug 🫂
Probably the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
Coming from Dark ep 4, I had to pause to go listen to this song! WOW JUST WOW. Brb i’ll listen to the rest of his songs.
as someone named Ariadne, this hits differently.
U have a nice name
I like the mithology names
Oh ariadne!!!
I know exactly what you mean
I agree completely. Thats why I want to comment. He tapped into something he keeps protected, and something, or someone he trusts i think without question. Hell it looked like it was his pleasure to be singing the song. For sure man, wonderful work.
The pain is just a symbol
May god bless you,
love, Angelika
Hyipnotised , right word !😍
A masterpiece show brought me to this masterpiece song. Or was it otherway around? A paradox
This could have been on Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate. I loved Lenny's music - this is like finding a new song of his to love. But no detriment to Asaf - this is his own sound and the lyrics are amazing. Thank you for the music & poetry.
Yes, same feelings as blue raincoat or avalanche ❤️
It drove me mad for like 20 min till I found it. Suzanne. Thank you Leonard.
very much Leonard Cohen inspired
IMO
thanks Asaf Avidan for helping me to find myself, my love, my desire.
Jesus....a voice to die to ...amazing
I come here every time I feel troubled. This is what music means. Calming you and solving your thoughts. ❤️
This song is something the most beautiful I've heard for a long time.

Such beautiful poetry.
For the life of me,I experienced perfection in 4 minutes and 39 seconds...
Go and check LP's videos! 😜
Cannot stop to say "thank you Asaf, you are the most precious pearl in my coffer".
That's the most amazing prayer I've ever heard. Rarely does one get to this level of honesty. Cheers from Russia!
Every once in a while I think of you. A bird in the sky, a rock in my way, last time I fell on my skateboard I laughed because it was you that put that pebble there. Today it was a laugh that sounded just like... I tell myself I'm lying but that's a lie too. Love the ones you love hard. Love them every chance you get. Love them like you'll never love again.
I just watched the Dark TV show, but I can't stop to listening this song.
Another one coming here after watching Dark. This song is actually giving me chills, in a good way.
DARK. Insane OST... This music is one of most amazing. Great voice and interpretation. From 🇵🇹
This song is dedicated and speaks to every person on the planet whether they listen or not!
Dark is really art,
The emotion is art,
The cinematography is art,
The music is art.
Jesus! What kind of perfection is this?!! ❤
I was paralised and amazed watching that scene in Dark because of this. They really can combine good music with amazing scenes.
