Hello, friends! If you enjoyed the video and wanted to support my channel, I've just started a "Buy me a Coffee" (in my case it would be tea) page which I'll link here: buymeacoffee.com/shawnaexplores but please don't feel any pressure to, the fact you're here and watching already means so much to me 🥰
Thanks Shawna - lots of memories in this video. I remember as a kid being in The Meadows when the university's main library was being built in the mid-60s and they had a dump truck on the roof for a while. It was an unusual sight for sure. You walked past what was the "Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion" which is where I was born. You also passed through Gifford Park where my father grew up in the 1920s. Even though I emigrated to Canada in the early 70s, I know that part of the city like the back of my hand!
Always thoroughly enjoy your lovely videos Shawna. I know they’re a lot of work - 👍 I studied law at Old College and, although I still live here, there were quite a few places I’d forgotten about which were nice to be reminded of. I really hope you’ll keep going with your videos. They’re really charming & authentic, which is getting harder & harder to find on youtube - you’re a diamond. Best wishes, David 🙏😀
Thank you for this vlog. I was smiling throughout. I have so many beautiful memories in this city and the university. It was so good to see everything still feels the same 🥺
Some lovely old buildings and then there is the library which looks like an Eastern European prison. Nice wee trip down memory lane for you and Ashley, thanks for sharing.
oh! finally got a chance to binge watch your past few videos, been so busy, I have got a new job and I'm in the middle of the training and moving cities. I loved this vlog, the architecture is so beautiful. needed this pause.
@@triptisharma5121 aww I’m so sorry you’ve been so busy. I hope you settle in well to your new job and the move goes well though! Thanks for watching and I’m glad it was a moment for you to pause 🥰
That was such a lovely video Shawna! I knew it would be when I saw you were taking a trip down memory lane. Everything looked so nice and so pretty. You should totally do an encore video when Teviot Row House is done with its construction. Take care!
Those beautiful old buildings (the old hospital) is where I was born. Also, I’m old enough to remember the university getting built. Im an old ‘southsider’ 😁
This is really awesome, and educational for me, since this is my future university. ^.^ I likely won’t be starting any classes any sooner than late next year, but this made me even more excited for it! Thank you so much for this!
@@ShawnaExplores Thank you very much! I’m a marine biologist, so going from studying here in the US to over there will be an amazing experience! As will working with a new ecosystem of marine life!
Loved this video, Shawna. I was definitely getting Hogwarts vibes from the beautiful stone buildings. I am fairly new to your channel but I love your content, it's really refreshing and charming. My one question would be, were your uni rooms well heated? Living in Australia I think I would find the weather in Scotland rather challenging.
Hello 👋🏼 It’s so lovely to have you here, thanks for watching! Good question.. my room in Holland House (Pollok Halls) had gas central heating (I think) but it only came on at certain times of the day so I would be slightly chilly in winter if I wanted to study in my room. I think I bought an electric blanket too. My room at Unite Chalmers Street had electric heating and you could have it on as much as you like but it made the room quite dry 😅
That’s so exciting! I remember my first year of uni fondly (although I found it a bit of a learning curve 😅). I’m not sure I’d be of much help as I tended to study at home best and I haven’t been at student for 7/8 years so I’m sure the study spots have changed but I heard Levels on Holyrood Road is a good spot and I remember Black Medicine being welcoming to students. Wishing you all the best with your studies ☺️
if i want to find accommodation, which place is closest to the moray school of education? did the uni reserve a place for postgraduate student or do i have to find accommodation on my own?

Thank you SO much for your kind comment, David! Made my day 😊 What a magnificent building to study in, Ashleigh has many fond memories too.

Absolutely! Haha Edinburgh university has some of the loveliest (and ugliest) buildings in the city 😂 thanks for watching!
Nice trip down memory lane for you there. Weirdly I think the first of your TH-cam videos I ever watched was your university room tour!
No way! Haha thanks for sticking around since then 😊
University of Edinburgh is gorgeous and I'm glad you guys were able to visit and remember your uni days.
Thanks so much for watching 🥹

Thanks so much for watching, Patrick! Funnily enough, Ashleigh and I were saying the same thing, that we’ll have to redo our tour when it’s reopened 😊

Seeing the Old College at the end instantly reminded me of One Day haha. A very nice video :)
I must watch One Day soon!! I’ve heard it showed Edinburgh off beautifully 😍 thanks for watching.

The best location for a Uni ☺
I thoroughly enjoyed it! ☺️
I’ve just started as a 1st year at Uni of Edinburgh so I’d love to hear some tips on good coffee/ study spots etc :)

Beautiful university Shawna.
@@hasan.basaran thanks for watching, Hasan! Edinburgh University has so many lovely parts (and some not as picturesque too 😅)
Too intrigued by that 1 second of Soderberg treat footage! What did you end up getting? .)
Hahah it was the tiniest chocolate cookie 🙊 I wasn’t very hungry but since my friend was getting something, I didn’t want to feel left out 😂
Wow the architecture of Gordon Aikman Lecture Theatre (George Square Theatre) looks something straight out of a Frank Lloyd Wright building
Haha it does actually! Maybe they were inspired by him 🙊
