This 1200 was CHEAP, needs a bunch of work, but its got a ton of nice part son it, clean and the engine is rock solid. It also Dyno'ed a 152rwhp with the mods it has, so super SPICY!
I’ve owned an 09 R6, 16 & 19 tuono factory, Duc 999,Duc 900ss , 16 & 21 hypermotard .The funnest bike in the twisties so far been the hypermotard 939 & 950. Looking forward to hearing your comparisons to your previous and current bikes.
The Hypermotard used to be even more of a hooligan bike. The first couple generations of it was that open dirtbike-esque looks with the top-tier engine from the superbike. So imagine a 1098 engine in that thing, I'd lose my license from all the tickets.
I just bought a 2012 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, the engine is straight out of the RSV1000R (only bored out) and it Dyno'ed 152rwhp with the mods it has, absolue cruise missile!
You gotta try that 701 sm on track and compare it to a hypermotard whether it be the mono or the fake one (i already forgot the name i love big singles). Its a whole nother experience tracking the damn things because they're just so light and so flickable.

Congrats, given the KTM motor reliability with camshafts I think this is a better purchase in 2024. I also almost bought a mono two weeks ago but bought a Triumph scrambler 1200 xe instead. I never thought I'd enjoy a non-road bias bike so much. The hypermotard is next, God willing.
The 690 engine isn't the one with issues. It's the 790/890 that is eating cams. That being said, they changed the heads for 2924. So time will tell us if that fixed the issue.
we have similar slow race here in the philippines but in a lower CC bike and it's called slow drag maybe you can do it for your next event or with your friends ride safe ingat palagi boss big fan
You can’t go wrong with a Hyper with just jumping on and just messing about.. few little tweaks, reduce a bit of weight and you’ll forget about the height - I have
O went to a Ducati dealership in Minnesota to trade a bike in for a 2018 Aprilia dorsoduro 900. They just got in a used 2019 Ducati hypermotard and almost got that instead, but i didn't have $8500 cash(plus my trade ) They couldn't do payment by debit card for that much. I got the Aprilia instead. It was half the price and had half the miles.
Hi there brother! Just want to say I have been watching you for a while and love to see another prior-enlisted here (I was a Corpsman for 8 years). I feel you're pain only being 5'7" myself and have found myself falling in love with taller bikes I can't reach the ground on (I have a 7 bike which most are tall supermotos to include the 701). My Tuono use to be my favorite go to bike in my garage until I got my 701 and that's what I ride 98% of the time now. I have thought about getting this bike here or the Dorsoduo but the weight of them are like you said, basically a naked bike cosplaying as a supermoto so I never got one. How would you say those two would compare/feel vs the Husky 701? I also have a DRZ400sm which is comparable in weight to the 701 but they don't feel like they are even in the same solar system. Hell I would say my Tuono feels more similar to the 701 than that DRZ400SM does. Sorry for the long ramble, keep up the awesome work brother!
The 701 is much lighter so it’s great for hooning around, but I think the hyper is a better long distance bike. If you wanna swap for a hyper, the hyper can hoon ok, but the long distance will be more comfy. Visa versa on the 701
Bro, best bike ever. I had one but blew the engine doing 146mph 😔 I traded it for a Streetfighter V2 but the hyper was way more fun tbh. Enjoy that beast bro
I rode my buddy's Hypermotard SP and besides it being super tall for me, I didn't like the power. It's probably because I was riding my 1290 Super Duke and we switched bikes.

The hypermotard will forever have a special place in my heart for being the first bike to break my eardrums (real story: my uncle used to own one, sold it after an accident which left him with a really bad back injury. But it was cool to see one up close in person not to mention backpacking on one)
