One of the most underrated falsetto voices of the 70’s was possessed by Johnny Wilder. Effortless and silky smooth. Wilder is up there with Eddie Kendrick, Don McPherson, Philip Bailey and Russell Thompkins Jr., in my opinion.
Johnnie had a dreamy voice. The kind that makes your toes curl...and the harmonization of those boys! Wow, that is a beautiful era of music. It takes me back in such a good way.

I still have the "Too Hot To Handle" album, where this jam is from. Looking back, Heatwave had a lot of great songs from the first five albums they recorded between 1976 and 1982. I think they were underrated after their "Central Heating" album in 1978. Their albums "Hot Property (1979)", "Candles (1980)", and "Current" (1982), had great songs that I felt that should been more recognized.
It's ALL good. The best stuff was produced by Barry Blue (my opinion). When Johnnie got hurt it derailed their whole thing (public persona) and they still put out 3 fantastic studio albums. I have 'em all. Can't get enough of Johnnie.
Rumor has it that Rod Temperton offered “Rock With You” to the band before giving it to Michael Jackson.Heatwave turned it down and MJ sang it and the rest is history as they say!

Heatwave, smooth and they try to show men whats it like to be a real man and take your time when it comes to dealing with a lady. I take their songs to heart and try to be a gentleman about things. Heatwave is awesome
Ta-rod Andrews Sr. They accomplished so much despite the fact that the band seemed to be dogged with one tragic event after another. Original guitarist Jesse Whitten was stabbed to death, Mario Mantesse was stabbed (but survived) by his girlfriend, Johnny Wilder was paralyzed in that auto mishap. It is amazing to me that they had any success at all.
+Ta-rod Andrews Sr. I agree, you know that the only reason that Michael hit the big one is because Wilder was in an accident. Rod Temperton is the one that really is the operator. Please study his history. I love both of these artists.
