My wife and I installed the front and rear camera setup this weekend in my 2014 Audi A4. Bottom line - Challenging but the results were worth it. And the money saved was pretty good too! A few notes: We started with the trunk camera which was fairly easy though the old handle was a PITA to remove. The dash assembly removal was quite troublesome, but we got it done. Just remember you don’t want the thin (silver in my case) trim you want a chunk of the dash so go deep with the trim tools. The glove box had way more screws than I would have thought and ate up 20 minutes on each side of the installation process at least. This phase was a good two hours for us. The most pain was transitioning the front cable assembly from the cockpit to the engine bay. Best advice: drill big and don’t sweat it like we did. Long forceps and a forked trim tool helped immensely. After that, it’s all downhill. Note the dip switches when setting up the front camera. We went with option 2 manual mode and love it. A few other noteworthy items….we didn’t need the 13mm wrench, fuse tap, or OEM solution. All is done by the T-Harness. Also, use the wire diagram for your package as it was the most accurate compared to video (least accurate) or the written instructions (generally accurate). The video doesn’t show how to pack away the interface box but we pushed it to the left of the glove box inside the center console compartment, adjacent to the LCD and it works well with no movement or rattling. Also, make sure you study the wires for the interface box and note which ones you need to use and which ones you don’t. I rubber banded together all the ones I didn’t need to make it easy. It also wasn’t without casualties. During re-install of the dash I knocked and lost the little wire that controls the driver’s side vent louvers rendering it in-op. Second, my car now shows the trunk as open when it’s closed. Not sure if we bumped or pinched the handle cable assemble or what. If you have solutions - hit me up. In all, it was 8 hours of work that left us impressed when we turned on the camera. Better quality resolution than expected - very high quality actually. So, while I won’t say its for the faint of heart it is certainly doable. And when you consider the money saved, it’s a great deal. My thanks to the Carsgadget guys and their product. It made my daily driving life much easier.
Hi Travis, thank you for your feedback. It looks like you were following one of our oldest videos. We have a new video on our website available to our customers. With a new power cable you don't need to remove glove box, this saves a lot of time. You could place the interface unit behind the climate control panel for easy access just incase you will decide to change DIP settings or adding Mirrorlink in the future. Usually the installation takes about 4-5 hours for those who are doing it for the first time and 2-3 hours for a professional installer. Regarding the trunk lid: double check trunk lid plastic trim. Make sure it seats properly in its place, most likely it's off its correct position which prevents closing the lid all the way and causes the light showing up in the dash. If you have more questions please let us know.
Hi,ive brought a Chinese interface for audi a5 2011, with front and rear camera, I have connected this interface to my car,and both cameras to interface but nothing showing on screen. Both long cables (1 side rca to rear out put ,2nd cable rca to front out put, and both small red wires to purple wire. As for the other end of both cables... I didnt connected red wires to any power supply, where should I connect them for front and rear or I shouldn't connect them at all? It's manual audi. Please help me out
@@totamarianrazvan4941 hi did you get your camera to work I had the same problem but on the interface there are 4 buttons I changed the last one then I had photo.
Do you have a video of what it looks like in working order? I thought this video would show the camera and how to turn it on after install but it does not. Would love to see this in action.
I’ve had 360 cameras installed on my 2017 A5 but the drivers side camera is back to front. The fitter thinks it’s the coding but can’t figure it out. Any ideas? We’re probably going to have to try a new module next, hopefully not too expensive.
Hi my front camera have one long wire with a connector to the camera like your and one red and one wire the other end have the yellow connector for video and one red how do I connect them ?
Thanks for your vid. I have a A6, the android module is located at passenger site, does anyone know how I can come under the hood of my car? In this video of an A4 they first have to go to driver site, for me it will be much easier to enter to hood from the passenger site.
We are of WY but we don't do the installation. CarsGadget is an online store only. However, we do have installers in LA and NY areas. We also have CarPlay for Audi. Please visit our store www.carsgadget.com
I followed this to a T, however the trunk latch doesn't work. The reverse camera works as expected, but the actual switch on the latch doesn't work. I use the remote as a work around. I'll need to dive back into this eventually.
You need to check the trunk power connector and make sure its inserted all the way. Some customers even forget to connect the connector at all. Just double-check the connector and all should be good.
Did you guys have to do any coding ? I installed a whole new headunit from rsnav and the camera screen stays black but shows the lines for turning on the screen.
Aref Eshghi It does work without front camera. The front camera is optional and it’s only switching to front camera if it’s installed. But the thing is, I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t want to install front camera as well at the same time. It’s awesome feature to have both cameras.
@@CarsGadget about 12v rear and front camera wire have to be in the same line? is there no problem with that? even if they dont active at the same moment...
Здравствуй друг, скажи пожалуйста, есть ли у тебя схема, как подключить видео камеры сзади и спереди на Audi A8L 2004 4E и где это всё можно купить? Спасибо
Thx for this great video .. we just bought a Audi Q7 premium plus with only back camera and now feel that we want the front and side under mirror cameras too ... is this possible to add the Audi original cameras ? Thanks a lot for your reply
First of all thanks for your videos, Im trying to watch all of them. How can i find your grill nickelage or alu metal not sure about name but if you tell me the store wiil be happy. Best regards.

Yes, you can do so.
i'm on the same road currently, did you do it? i wonder how to use power cables for this setup
Bonjour comment avez vous fait pour le branché les fils de la camera avant Merci
Do u need to do any VCDS/Vagcom coding to enable the cameras?
No you don't. It's plug and play.
Where are you located? Surely wish you could do my setup. Will this work with the base Radio or do I have to upgrade to the Navigation Unit?

Don't we need to connect wires to reverse light or I missed that part in video?
No need to connect to the reverse light.
wasted 10mins and no demonstration on how it looks!!!!

Where does the power for the camera come from? Don’t you have to connect the red wire to a power source?
Without the interface going mounted a Chinese rear camera on the Audi A4 b8 MMI 3G?
Hi - do you sell a front camera only? I already have a reverse camera fitted. Audi A7 2012
Yes, we do. But you would still need to buy interface and the front camera.
hello. by adding up your equipment, the front and rear camera. as when traveling activate the front camera, a button? Audi A4 B8 2009yer ... Thanks
Yes, it's only available in AMI camera interface, check our website: www.carsgadget.com

would like to see a rear camera install video made for a 2014 AUdi Q5.
you can look for Q5 installation on Audiworld.com pages there was a thread from our customers up there.
Did you guys have to do any coding ? I installed a whole new headunit from rsnav and the camera screen stays black but shows the lines for turning on the screen.
Our product doesn't need coding, it's plug and play. Can't speak for other manufacturers and how their product works.
Hi do you need to buy a head unit or can you buy the cable connectors and plug it into the head unit via the tailgate camera
Hi, you will need to buy camera interface to make these cameras working. www.carsgadget.com
Does it work if you do not install the front one? Wouldn't it be a 10 second blank screen once you shift from reverse(R) to drive(D)?
Aref Eshghi It does work without front camera. The front camera is optional and it’s only switching to front camera if it’s installed. But the thing is, I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t want to install front camera as well at the same time. It’s awesome feature to have both cameras.
Thanks. Yes, it's a good feature to have, but I don't want to go through the installation for the front camera.
The only way to connect the front camera is make a hole on that side? About audi a3 2014?
You can also drill a small hole behind the glovebox and run the wire with a rubber grommet.
Well in that case; i think is better to use your way. Thank u!

When you put the transmission in reverse you can see the view of the rear camera. So how do you switch to the view of the front camera?
It switches to front camera automatically after shifting from reverse.
+Евгений Сулима okay, thanks. I'll be getting this in the near future.
